Claims that Michael Jackson needs a lung transplant because of a rare respiratory disease are a "total fabrication," according to a statement from Jackson's official spokesperson, Dr. Tohme Tohme, released by the Los Angeles firm, Scoop Marketing, Reuters reports. Word of Jackson's supposed condition – that he was suffering from Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency – had circulated after writer Ian Halperin, at work on an upcoming biography of the 50-year-old music legend, was interviewed in Britain's Sunday Express newspaper. – Stephen M. Michael Jackson is not only not suffering from a life-threatening lung ailment, he's so healthy he's planning a world tour! In response to recent comments made by celebrity conspiracy-theorist Ian Halperin, the pop icon's rep issued a statement Monday saying that "wild allegations concerning Mr. Jackson's health are a total fabrication." "Concerning this author's allegations, we would hope in the future that legitimate media will not continue to be exploited by such an obvious attempt to promote this unauthorized 'biography,'" Jackson spokesman Dr. Tohme Tohme said of Halperin's in-the-works bio, which claims that the Thriller artist is suffering from a genetic »

Michael Jackson Medical Thriller—Does He Need New Lung?

22 December 2008 1:40 PM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Is Michael Jackson really facing a life-threatening genetic condition? The reclusive King of Pop's camp is remaning mum after a biographer with a penchant for tabloid-friendly fare claimed Jackson is in desperate need of a lung transplant. Author Ian Halperin, who made a minor splash by writing a book theorizing Kurt Cobain was murdered and who is apparently trying to drum up interest in his in-the-works Jackson biography, insists that the 50-year-old entertainer is suffering from a sometimes-fatal genetic condition called Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency. Jackson's condition has worsened over the years to the point where "his quality of life is severely diminished," Halperin tells In Touch »

Michael Jackson is reportedly suffering from a life-threatening lung disease and is in need of a transplant. The Sun reports that the pop icon's health is rapidly deteriorating due to genetic disease alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency, which causes a lack of protein to protect the lungs. Jackson is allegedly suffering internal bleeding and has lost vision in his left eye, according to his biographer Ian Halperin. "He needs a lung transplant, but may be too weak to go through with it," Halperin is quoted as saying. "He also has emphysema and (more) »

Hey, High Mercury Counts Happen…and So Did This Stuff

Do not laugh at Jeremy Piven. What if you were suffering from a sushi-induced mercury malaise? Wouldn't be so funny, now would it? Why, if you were like Piven, you wouldn't even be able to muster a guffaw on account of your "literally paralytic" condition. So, no, no matter how funny David Mamet is, do not laugh at Piven because he bailed on Broadway to "pursue a career as a thermometer." Unless, that is, you're going to be fair about it, and mock all the other stars who've covered questionable or controversial moves with lame interesting excuses explanations. Well, all right then. We know the kid actually is his son, but was Billie Jean, in fact, Michael Jackson's lover? A woman named Billie Jean Jackson (no, really) filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Wednesday claiming she is the mother of 6-year-old Prince Michael Jackson II—otherwise known as Blanket—and requesting joint legal and physical custody. Additionally she is asking for visitations on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, participation in the child's education and a whopping $1 billion (again, really...we have the documents to prove it). Blanket is the youngest of Jackson's three children. He was born in 2002 as the result of artificial insemination from a surrogate mother and Jackson's sperm, »

'X Factor' obituary: Jls

13 December 2008 3:42 PM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Boyband Jls emerged as the X Factor runners-up in tonight's live final. Louis Walsh's final hope came second in the public vote, losing out to victor Alexandra Burke. The four-piece - Marvin Humes, Jonathan Gill, Ortise Williams and Aston Merrygold - survived the early rounds of the competition with ease and drew plenty of praise from the judging panel. However, Cheryl Cole often accused Louis Walsh of trying to turn the guys into a Westlife-esque group. In week one the boys performed Boyz II Men's 'I'll Make Love To You' and followed it up with 'The Way You Make Me Feel' in Michael Jackson week. They covered Dean Martin's 'Ain't That A Kick In The Head?' for Big Band week and performed 'Working My Way Back To You' in week five. Quigg began the competition with performances of 'Imagine' by John Lennon, Michael Jackson's 'Ben' and a well-received cover of Nat King Cole's 'L-o-v-e'. The Irish hopeful was never criticised by any of the judges until week eight and was praised highly by Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole in particular. He covered Barry Manilow's 'Could It Be Magic' in week four and followed it up with a version of 'Anytime You Need A Friend' for Mariah Carey week. Jackson Memorabilia To Be Sold

10 December 2008 8:05 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Items of memorabilia from Michael Jackson's personal collection are set to go under the hammer next year.

The pop superstar is selling off more than 2,000 personal belongings in a live TV auction on 21 April 2009.

Items for sale include the singer's glittery black glove which featured in his 1983 video for Billie Jean, and the gates which once led to his beloved Neverland Ranch.

The property was transferred to an investment firm last month whose bosses will rename it in a joint venture with the pop star.

Jackson plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from the auction to MusiCares, a charity which aims to help musicians in need. The sale will be broadcast live in the U.S. on Auction Network. »
