‘Jim Henson’s Labyrinth’ Board Game Review

2 hours ago | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

As a child of the 1980’s, I spent a lot of my time recording movies at Christmas on my mum and dad’s Vcr. From blockbusters like Star Wars and Indiana Jones to classics like Oliver, I probably had thirty or forty tapes that I watched over and over, occasionally bumping a bad movie from my collection and recording over it. As a result of this, I have a near perfect recollection of Christmas adverts for Scs, Argos and Toy’s R’ Us, but that’s hardly something I should burden you wish.

One of the movies I had a particular love for was Jim Henson’s Labyrinth. I would fast forward the opening scenes of Sarah faffing about in the rain and arguing with her parents and usually, I’d hit play right around the talking worm scene. I’d skip other scenes too – the masquerade ball for example »

Ed Catto: Great Graphic Novels, Old and New

2 October 2017 5:00 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

There’s a peculiar mix of older graphic novels and new graphic novels in our home right now. The new stuff is all part of a top-secret project I’m working on with my daughter, Tess. We can’t let the cat out of the bag yet, but you can check out her showcase of street art for the sneak peek tease. (And now that I think about it, who even puts cats into bags ?!?)

I’m struck by the wide variety of engaging, superlative creative endeavors we cram under the umbrella term “graphic novel.” While there’s one line of thinking that argues Geek Culture has outgrown the phrase “graphic novel,” it’s still handy and flexible enough for hardcore fans, casual fans, librarians, and bookstore owners.

Here are a few of the so-called Old Graphic Novels floating around here:

The new season of Riverdale hasn't even started yet, but the show's stars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart are already deep in drama—this time with a famous pig. Chrissy Teigen Shaded by Kermit the Frog in Twitter Tattoo Tiff

Sounds like Chrissy Teigen might have gotten under Kermit the Frog’s skin a little bit, figuratively if not literally. The “Lip Sync Battle” host and the “Sesame Street” icon got into a mild social-media spat on Thursday, after Teigen declared that she was glad she never had the famous frog’s image permanently inked onto her body. The semi-heated back-and-forth began when Teigen told her 7.5 million Twitter followers that she dodged a lifetime of regret when she opted not to get a Kermit tattoo when she was younger. Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal: The Board Game Actually Exists Now

It’s funny how nostalgia hits around a certain time every year. Out of everything Jim Hensen ever did this was perhaps one of the most iconic movies of all time and one of the most beloved by so many. Walk up to anyone on the street and I would guess that at least seven out of ten times if you asked about The Dark Crystal people’s faces would absolutely light up once you mentioned it. This time-honored classic has become a favorite of many movie buffs and has even translated fairly well into current generations. Obviously the effects aren’t entirely

Concert Review: ‘Muppets Take the Bowl’ Is Timeless and Clever for All Ages

9 September 2017 10:58 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The Muppets have succeeded where few pop cultural phenomena have, maintaining their relevance and celebrity status among both adults and kids from the moment they first landed on the scene in the late 1950s. In a world in which almost everything invented pre-iPhone has been eclipsed by something shinier and sleeker, the Muppets have never lost their unflappable charm and indefatigable ability to entrance audiences young and old.

While their voices have changed over the years (and the puppeteers inside them), and there have been crises of character along the way (Kevin Clash, the original voice of Elmo, was accused and later cleared of sexual abuse charges), Jim Henson’s zany gaggle of whimsical, hilarious, furry friends have remained iconic, inimitable and downright cool.

Which is why the Hollywood Bowl Friday night was filled to the hilt with moms and dads — some tipsy on chardonnay; others designated sober carpoolers — and children, in »
