Keanu Reeves is going to make you believe he's a lawyer in 'The Whole Truth'

17 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Clip It: Each day, Jon Davis looks at the world of trailers, featurettes, and clips and puts it all in perspective. What happens when you're accused of murdering Jim Belushi? You call Keanu Reeves. That's what you do. It's the first call I'd make, I know that.  Last time time I saw Keanu play a lawyer was Devil's Advocate, in which Keanu sold his soul to the devil (Al Pacino) in order to make partner. Or something like that. This is more reality based and if it weren't for the cast, it would probably be a made for TV movie. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Somewhat related, there's been some pretty watchable John Grisham movies out there  with awesome actors in them.  Are you interested in this movie? We know that the kid couldn't have killed his abusive father. That wouldn't be satisfying. Did Renee Zellweger do it? The »

The evolution of Noel Clarke

7 September 2016 12:26 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Simon Brew Sep 10, 2016

From Doctor Who’s Mickey to a one-man film industry, and Brotherhood. So why doesn’t Noel Clarke get more respect?

Over the past weekend, the final part of Noel Clarke’s The Hood trilogy of movies, Brotherhood, hit big in the UK. The movie has earned £1.98m in its first seven days on release, on just 220 screens. It did so in spite of Clarke at one stage struggling to raise the finance for the film (only two companies ended up putting in tangible offers), and also in spite of it being eight years since the release of its predecessor, Adulthood.

In a summer of box office disappointments, Brotherhood has offered a very welcome contrast.

The box office numbers were being reported as a surprise, and not unreasonably. Rounding off a trilogy that’s been off screen for many years is a gamble, and a trilogy too »

'Jason Bourne' Again: In Praise of Matt Damon, Action Hero

1 August 2016 12:37 PM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

Go back to December 1997, courtesy of whatever streaming service you favor or your vast DVD collection, and head directly to the 22-minute mark of Gus Van Sant's artisanal version of a feel-good movie, Good Will Hunting. Maybe you remember seeing that baby-faced lead actor before as one of the School Ties' anti-Semites, or that wraith of a military-veteran junkie in Courage Under Fire, or that eager-beaver legal eagle in the John Grisham potboiler The Rainmaker.

But chances are good that Hunting is the movie where Matt Damon initially »

John Grisham Says His New 'Non-Legal Thriller' The Tumor Could Potentially Save 'Millions of Lives' - Here's Why

23 February 2016 3:45 PM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

John Grisham has written dozens of novels over the past 27 years - including the bestselling legal thrillers A Time to Kill, The Firm and The Pelican Brief - but he says his latest work, The Tumor, is "the most important book he has ever written." So important, in fact, that he's made the book available for free. The author's new thriller is unlike any of his others. A fictional account of how a real medical technology could impact the future of medicine, The Tumor tells the story of Paul, a 35-year-old man with a loving wife and three children, who »

The Choice (2016) – The Review

4 February 2016 3:28 PM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

2016 is five weeks old, so the new model is rolling off the assembly line. You might think I’m referring to an automobile company like Ford or Lincoln. Well, we are dealing with a brand name, one associated with popular novels instead of cars. Stephen King is still king of the horror/suspense novels, John Grisham has the legal thrillers, and Nicholas Sparks is best known for the swoony, sweeping romance paperbacks that fill the spinner racks at airport gift shops and often protrude from the tops of canvas beach bags. His best sellers quickly grabbed the attention of the movie studios, and almost a dozen have been translated to the big screen (easy to see why since they don’t require costly CGI action set pieces or big name superstars since Sparks is the name that draws ’em in). Back to the assembly line reference, there’s been a »

3rd Rock from the Sun Turns 20, Plus 10 Other Roles That Led Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Stardom

13 January 2016 8:45 AM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Twenty years ago this week, an oddball NBC sitcom introduced viewers to a family of space aliens who, in the grand tradition of Alf, Mork and Mindy and My Favorite Martian, were attempting to hide out on Earth. It was a silly premise, but 3rd Rock from the Sun ended up outlasting those other three shows, running a full six seasons. And we can credit its success to a talented comedic cast that included John Lithgow, Kristen Johnston, French Stewart and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who was only 14 when the show premiered. Seriously, look at him - babyfaced and long-haired and oh-so »
