Hollywood New Leaders: Agents and Managers

18 October 2017 8:00 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Each year Variety’s New Leaders feature profiles the most prominent up-and-comers in the entertainment business. To determine this year’s worthies, Variety looked for go-getters across disciplines, from television, digital, music and film, to law and finance, as well as content creators. They were proposed by their bosses and peers who have worked with them and seen their rise. All are age 40 or under, and Variety has measured them by the progress of their career trajectories: do they take calculated risks? How fast have they risen in their companies? Are they innovative and employ solutions to problems that are creative? While it’s hard to pinpoint the “it” factor, these folks embody that intangible. The people on the list have helped build the brilliant careers of their clients, shepherded hit television shows and successful movies, created small-screen series, films and animated shows, launched digital platforms, fostered hit music, counseled top dealmakers and financed them, and are some »

Family Guy: Season 15 Ratings

17 October 2017 12:43 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Last season, Family Guy dropped again in the ratings. Thanks to its numbers in the 18-49 demo though, it remained one of the top 10 scripted Fox TV series, so it seems less likely to be cancelled than other shows. Still, the sitcom is aging, and Seth MacFarlane debuted The Orville this fall -- a live-action sci-fi comedy. Could the end possibly be nigh? Will Family Guy be cancelled or renewed for season 16? Stay tuned. A Fox animated comedy, Family Guy centers on Peter Griffin, his family and friends, and their crazy mishaps in the Rhode Island town of Quahog. The voice cast includes MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis, and Mike Henry.Read More… »

Rollback Review: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 4

17 October 2017 12:40 PM, PDT | The Cultural Post | See recent The Cultural Post news »

And thus, a new era began.

Buffy Season Four is a controversial Season amongst fans. To put it simply – it’s not the favourite for many. This was a bit of an interesting year for the show – for one thing, it lost two of its principle cast members to a newly launched spin-off, the familiar high school location was no more and the characters were officially adults. Times were moving on for Buffy, and the things that we had gotten used to were going to have to change.

Thus, the show moved onto the life of a Slayer at College, and the adventures that ensued. Adventures that are a little, well, daft at times. Don’t get me wrong – Season Four is by no means a failure, and does hit some serious heights on occasion. If anything, it lacks the consistency of Season Three and the brilliance of Season Two. »

Nycc: Seth Green says It star Finn Wolfhard’s Richie Tozier is “fantastic”

6 October 2017 1:45 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

While nowadays most know actor Seth Green as the voice of Chris on Family Guy or a co-creator of Robot Chicken, it’s easy to forget his humble beginnings as a child actor, and in particular his role in the 1990 miniseries It.

During a Thursday night panel at New York Comic Con for Crackle’s SuperMansion: Drag Me to Halloween, Green, an executive producer on the show, was asked by a fan to recount his fondest memories from being a 15-year-old on the set of It. In addition to answering the question, Green offered up his thoughts on the new It, including Finn Wolfhard’s performance as the comedian of the Losers’ Club, Richie Tozier.

Green said, “I thought that new version was awesome. I was excited to see the whole thing rendered with an R-rating. I love Finn, that kid from Stranger Things who plays Richard Tozier. He was fantastic. »

Are there any actors that you’d like to see guest star on future episodes of the show? I know you had Lake Bell and Phil Lamarr on this episode.

Matthew Senreich: That’s a tough one. We joked at one point about getting Aaron Paul to play with Cranston. I think that would be a lot of fun. »

M. Night Shyamalan's Glass Begins Principal Photography

M. Night Shyamalan has begun production on the third film of the Unbreakable/ Split Universe titled Glass. Here’s all we have so far on the upcoming film.

Right off the bat I just want to say Spilt was fantastic. James McAvoy was so good in the role of Kevin Crumb a man with 24 different personalities one of which gives him super human abilities. The film then gave us an ending where it was revealed that Bruce Willis’s character from Unbreakable David Dunn also exists in this universe. And instantly I was back on board for that famous M. Night twist ending, well done sir.

TV Critics Pick the Best Animated Voice Actors of All Time — IndieWire Survey

3 October 2017 9:01 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)

This week’s question: Who is your favorite voice actor for animated characters on TV? Why?

Dave Trumbore (@DrClawMD), Collider

My knee-jerk reaction was either Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill for their roles as Batman/Bruce Wayne and The Joker, respectively, because “Batman: The Animated Series” is always on my mind. But thinking a moment more, my favorite voice actor (and arguably the best in the biz) is Frank Welker.

The 20 Best Adult Swim Comedy Series, Ranked: From ‘Rick and Morty’ to ‘Robot Chicken’

3 October 2017 8:00 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

There are few communities as obsessive as Adult Swim fans. The Cartoon Network nighttime programming block debuted in 2001 as a subversive spin on the animated channel’s daytime fare, and soon grew into a catch-all for bold creators. It eventually shook off its animated-only ethos to allow for surreal visions and adventurous filmmaking that fostered some of Hollywood’s most off-the-wall thinkers, and even brought in game celebrities to join in the insanity. Nearly every As title has disparate cults to fight for the programs that speak to them, whether it’s the rockers who ride for “Metalocalypse,” the Tim & Eric faithful who crowd the duo’s live shows, or the chemically enhanced who get their kicks on “Off the Air.”

Here are our picks for the network’s top 20 original comedy series, taking cultural influence into account alongside laughs.
