Sandra Bullock to Lead 'Ocean's Eleven' All-Female Reboot

30 October 2015 5:58 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Sandra Bullock returns to the big screen this weekend with Our Brand Is Crisis, portraying a political campaign strategist, a role that was originally written for her Gravity co-star George Clooney. The actor stayed on to produce that film, and now they are re-teaming for another gender-swapping project, with Sandra Bullock attached to take on George Clooney's lead role in an all-female remake of his 2001 hit Ocean's Eleven. The Playlist reports that this Ocean's Eleven reboot has been in the works for over a year, with Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) signing on to direct.

The project reportedly came together last fall, originated by Ocean's Eleven star George Clooney, director Steven Soderbergh and producer Jerry Weintraub. The trio have enlisted screenwriter Olivia Milch (Queen & Country) to tackle the script, which she has been working on for several months. There was speculation the project might have been delayed, after producer »

Cast This: Actressexual Ocean's Eleven

30 October 2015 9:47 AM, PDT | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Hi, everyone. Coco here, with a fantastic opportunity for all agents and casting directors out there...

Indiewire reports an Ocean's Eleven sequel is in the works, and that it will feature an all-female caper crew. Clooney is producing, Olivia Milch (Little Women) is writing, and Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, Hunger Games) is directing. The biggest news for Actressexuals: Sandra Bullock has landed the Danny Ocean role.

Bullock's star-persona is a little goofier than Clooney's ultra-suave schtick, but she seems like a great choice nonetheless. Very few performers ooze of charisma as strongly as Bullock. I mean, I still find myself thinking of her speaking "Chinese" at the Oscars from time to time.

The bigger question, though, is what other wonderful actresses should join her and her team of madcap con artists. Here are some options:

Melissa McCarthy: McCarthy and Bullock had great chemistry in The Heat, so who wouldn't love a reunion? »

Ocean’s Eleven reboot on the way

30 October 2015 12:57 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

An Ocean’s Eleven reboot is on the way with Sandra Bullock leading an all-female cast this time around. The George Clooney and Brad Pitt starring original was released back in 2001, and that movie was actually based on a Rat-Pack flick from decades ago, but it seems that Hollywood has run out of ideas once gain, and wants a remake.

Clooney and the Ocean’s 11, 12, and 13 director Steven Soderbergh are actively involved behind the scenes, while Olivia Milch will write the screenplay.

There’s a chance that Clooney may also cameo in the new movie too, but one question remains; what will they call it? The ‘Ocean’s’ in the title referred to Clooney’s character, Danny Ocean, so will Bullock’s character potentially be related?

The original movie revolved around a group of thieves’ plans to bust three Las Vegas casinos. Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Elliot Gould »

Review: Electric Boogaloo – The Wild, Untold Story Of Cannon Films

2 October 2015 12:42 PM, PDT | | See recent Icons of Fright news »

For most genre fans, it doesn’t get much better than Cannon Films. A staple in action, horror and complete insanity, the studio that dominated the 1980’s were put down by bigger studios, frowned upon by most mainstream critics, and completely adored by genre fans. Led by Israeli cousins Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, the fledgling company put out more films per year than most of the other studios, with everything from Masters Of The Universe, Cobra, The Last American Virgin, Lifeforce and hundreds of other varying films that were all across the genre board before shutting down in 1994. Machete Maidens Unleashed/Not Quite Hollywood director Mark Hartley uses the rise and fall of the studios and its two leaders as his subject in Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story Of Cannon Films, a film that focuses more on the notorious past of the studio and less on what did go right. »

Let the River Run: Boden & Fleck’s Melancholy, Character Driven Road-Trip

Filmmaking duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck return with their best collaboration since the 2006 break out title Half Nelson (a film which Boden only shared co-writing credit). Considering their last effort was the 2010 dramedy It’s Kind of a Funny Story, it’s with definite pleasure to see them return to their talents for concocting acute characterizations and capturing impressive performances with Mississippi Grind, a rambling, gambling tumbleweed of a film. Gilded with a palpable sadness in its exploration of hollow lives desperately chasing impossible dreams, the film pays homage to Robert Altman’s 1974 classic California Split, which starred Elliott Gould and George Segal. Boden and Fleck transport us to the modern day Mid-West, utilizing the eponymous river as journey through the threadbare humanity on the road.

Katherine Heigl’s Giving TV Another Shot

24 August 2015 3:07 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Katherine Heigl will attempt another stab at TV with a starring role in a pilot for CBS's Doubt. TheWrap reports that Heigl will play a defense attorney named Sadie, who "becomes romantically involved with one of her clients charged with a violent crime." KaDee Strickland was reportedly attached as the show's original star, but Heigl will replace her in a reworked script fashioned by Grey's Anatomy's Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, and directed by Adam Bernstein. Other initial castings — including Laverne Cox, Elliott Gould, Dulé Hill, and Dreama Walker — will remain intact, according to the trade, and Phelan, Rater, Bernstein, Carl Beverly, and Sarah Timberman will be executive producers. Heigl's last starring TV role was in NBC's State of Affairs, which was canceled after its first season in May. If this shot doesn't work out, no word yet whether Katherine intends to say "bye-gl" to television. »
