“Funny how secrets travel,” David Bowie croons as the music thumps. The camera zooms down a dark desolate highway, illuminated only by the twin beams of a speeding car’s headlights. This is the beginning of David Lynch’s Lost Highway, and it sets the mood for the chaos to come.

Lynch rose to auteur status with unflinchingly distinct films crafted with a fetishistic fever. They were challenging and downright weird films that made unsuspecting audiences uncomfortable while simultaneously earning the director acclaim. They were the types of films that seemed to exist within their own self-contained universes where the past and present would collide, often violently. April 28th Blu-ray & DVD Releases Include From a Whisper to a Scream, The Boy Next Door

Genre fans have a very light week of home entertainment releases to look forward to on Tuesday, April 28th. Scream Factory is giving the Vincent Price cult classic From a Whisper to a Scream a high-def upgrade with their latest Blu-ray, and Universal Studios is bringing home J.Lo and her cookies with their DVD and Blu-ray for The Boy Next Door. Lord of the Flies is also making its bow on Blu-ray this week, courtesy of Olive Films, and the indie vampire flick Hunted is making its way onto DVD as well.

Unity Documentary Opens Worldwide Beginning August 12; Features 100 Celebrity Narrators

Documentary ‘Unity’ Set for Aug. 12 Release with 100 Star Narrators

Shaun Monson’s documentary “Unity,” featuring 100 celebrity narrators, will be distributed by SpectiCast at 1,000 to 1,200 screens worldwide beginning Aug. 12, Variety has learned exclusively.

The  film comes a decade after Monson’s documentary “Earthlings,” which explored humanity’s relationships with other animals. Produced by Melissa Danis and Monson through Nation Earth, “Unity” explores the interconnectivity of all life on Earth and what it means to be human, exploring themes of love, tragedy and hope.

SpectiCast has partnered with Fathom Events for the domestic release on select U.S. screens. The deal was announced Wednesday at CinemaCon.

The family that once held the largest private fortune in America has suffered yet another bizarre and tragic misfortune with the death of Andrew Rork Getty, 47, who was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Tuesday. The grandson of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty was discovered "halfway in the bathroom in the hallway," L.A. coroner Ed Winter tells People. "He was partially clothed and it looked like he was trying to get to the bathroom." Winter says Andrew had told his assistant he was feeling ill several days earlier, and believes the cause of death was "probably gastrointestinal bleeding inside. »
