The show, which stars Cruel Intentions actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, has been running for seven seasons but Whedon expects the final show of the current season to be the last ever. Although he admits there is no official decision in place, Whedon believes that Gellar's flourishing big screen career will bring the series to a natural conclusion. He says, "It's starting to feel official. She hasn't told me one way or another, but I know she has movies she wants to do. She has been doing Buffy for seven years, so if she did decide that this was her last year, it's certainly a decision I'd respect." »

Buffy Gets Immortalized in Wax

21 October 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Cult heroine Buffy The Vampire Slayer is to be immortalized in wax - as part of a Halloween special at London's Madame Tussaud's. The character, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, will appear in the Chamber of Horrors part of the museum, complete with a coffin. The statue took five months to mold, after newly-married Gellar posed for it during work on her hit film Scooby-Doo, while modeling work on it began in Los Angeles last November. As part of the exhibition of the new model there will be a game where kids must spot the other celebrity statues that have been bitten by Count Dracula. A spokesperson for the top tourist attraction says, "Buffy is one of the most popular kids' characters - and the dads will no doubt be showing some interest too. The trick for the kids is to find out which 20 celebrities have already become victims. Judging by some of his early victims, Dracula has terrible taste." »

Sarah Michelle Gellar Gets 'Dirrty'

15 October 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar gave fans a thrill on Saturday night, when she performed an even dirtier version of Christina Aguilera's raunchy video "Dirrty." The Scooby-Doo beauty made her third appearance on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, where she performed a number of wacky sketches. But the segment which really got fans sitting up in their seats was the actress's own rendition of the "Dirrty" video, which Aguilera made with rapper Redman. Dressed in a blonde wig and a raunchy outfit, Gellar, in character as Aguilera, said, "I'm really excited about Redman being in my video because he's so dirty. We had sex a bunch of times but we never met formally. I feel so free with this video because when people see this, they're gonna stop seeing me as a bubblegum music industry 'ho and start seeing me as an actual 'ho!" And Aguilera's many suggestions during the take-off scene included calls for more urine in the fog machine to make the video more 'dirty' before Gellar chimed in: "It just ain't skanky enough. I ain't no director, but I could ride somebody's leg while they f**ted." But Gellar wasn't satisfied with the video's level of 'dirtiness' until the video's director, played by American funnyman Jimmy Fallon suggested that she don a "a large rubber baboon's a**" over her rear, which she cheekily flashed for cameras at the end of the sketch. When asked about why Gellar chose to do a parody of the promo she simply replied, "Have you seen the video?" »

They claim the star's wedding pictures, which recently appeared in a 15-page feature in the magazine, made them a "six figure" sum. And Leslie Sloane - spokeswoman for the two stars - confirms, "A US magazine buzzed over a pre-wedding dinner in a helicopter the night before. We had to move the wedding to another location. We figured after all that, they were going to get photos anyway and we might as well have some control." Sloane is quick to insist the pair will not make a profit from money paid to them by Hello! She says any money left over after paying for the wedding will be donated to a charity that helps animals. »

The End For Buffy?

7 August 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Sexy actress Sarah Michelle Gellar plans to give up Buffy The Vampire Slayer following the success of her latest movie Scooby-Doo. The 25-year-old star has played high-kicking evil-conquering lead character Buffy Summers for the past five years since the hit TV show began. But she now sees her future on the big screen following the box-office success of Scooby-Doo, in which she played Daphne Blake. She says, "It's important for me to go out on top. I don't want to be part of a show that runs eight years only to have people say of it, 'That should have ended years ago'." The producers of the show are now working on ways to continue the series, which will otherwise end after its seventh run. The most likely possibility would see Buffy's role taken by her teenage sister Dawn, played by Michelle Trachtenberg. There is also a chance that Sarah may be persuaded to make regular cameos. Buffy executive producer Marti Noxon says, "I'm not sure that Sarah will come back. It would be very hard to continue without her, although program makers 20th Century Fox might try." Sarah has been forced to miss out on a string of top movie roles due to the time- consuming constraints of the Buffy schedule and has also complained about the toll the show's stunts take on her body. However in addition to Scooby-Doo she did star in 1999's acclaimed Cruel Intentions and in 2001 flick Harvard Man. »

She says, "There's nothing worse than working an 18-hour day in the sand, coming back all covered in sweat and grit, and really, really looking forward to washing it all off in a long, hot shower, only to be told, 'Sorry - there was no sun today, which means we have no hot water!'
