With their pulpy, entertaining sci-fi film Life now in theaters, star Jake Gyllenhaal and director Daniel Espinosa are already set to re-team for another cinematic outing. According to The Tracking Board, the pair are set to adapt an article by Rolling Stone about a group of Americans who fight alongside the Ypg against Isis. Titled The Anarchists vs Isis, Gyllenhaal will lead the project, along as joining the film as a producer. Espinosa is set to direct and they are still on the hunt for a writer to adapt the article, hopefully one that adapts such a recent set of events in compelling form.

Last month, actress Lindsay Lohan made headlines when she sent out a side-by-side Instgram photo that featured both the actress and the animated version of Ariel from the Disney classic The Little Mermaid. The studio is currently developing a live-action version of this classic tale, with the actress throwing her hat in the ring to play Ariel, although it may be quite some time before this project reaches the casting phase. The actress also revealed on Instagram that she wants Beauty and the Beast director Bill Condon to take the helm, and now the filmmaker has responded. First, though, take a look at Lindsay Lohan's full statement from Instagram last month.
"I will sing again, as #ariel #thelittlemermaid. @disney approve that. #billcondon directs it along with my sister @alianamusic singing the theme song for the soundtrack. Also @kgrahamsfb plays Ursula. Simply because, she is the best. Take one. @disneystudios. »
Per Deadline, the new recruits now join Liam Neeson – Hollywood’s rejuvenated action icon if ever there was one – for Hans Petter Moland’s Rocky Mountains-set actioner, itself an English-language remake of Moland’s own Norwegian pic, In Order of Disappearance. Frank Baldwin is on board to hash out a screenplay with the Scandanivan filmmaker, while Michael Shamberg will produce on behalf of StudioCanal.
Details on how Forsythe and/or Rossum factor into the plot remain few and far between; so far, the only logline confirms Neeson as Nels an “upright snowplow driver in a glitzy ski town whose life is turned upside down when his son is murdered by the powerful local drug kingpin. He then seeks to dismantle the cartel, but his vengeful crusade »

Stars: Kenny Johnson, Bill Goldberg, Mindy Robinson, Tyler Mane, William Forsythe, Kane Hodder, Krista Grotte, Michelle Lee, Fred Williamson, Olga Safari, Ricky Harris | Written by Thomas J. Churchill, Aj Perez | Directed by Thomas J. Churchill
Apparently “inspired by true events” (or so the opening title card says), Check Point is the latest film from Thomas J. Churchill who – until now – has worked extensively in the horror genre. Here he not only brings his experience to the action movie genre, but also some acting talent too – the film features Jason Vorhees actor Kane Hodder and former Michael Myers, Tyler Mane, too! But that pair are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Check Point‘s cast: just look at the cast list above – it reads like a who’s who of genre talent. Old school performers William Forsythe and Fred Williamson share screen time with the likes of »

Nearly 30 years after Disney's timeless animated classic The Little Mermaid hit theaters, the studio announced last year that they are putting together a new live-action adaptation with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Universal was also readying their own live-action adaptation with Chloe Moretz set to star, before she dropped out. While it remains to be seen what will happen with those projects, there is a new live-action Little Mermaid movie coming out later this year, and the first trailer has been released today.
This Little Mermaid movie comes from Conglomerate Media and Kingsway Productions, with the trailer debuting on YouTube. The project doesn't have a release date set at this time, but it is expected to debut later this year, possibly this summer, although it remains to be seen when a release date will be announced. This story takes a much different approach to the original Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale. »

Back in August, Disney revealed that the studio is teaming up with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken, who are set to write new music for the studio's The Little Mermaid remake. We haven't heard any more on the remake since then, including who will be cast, or who will serve as writer or director on this coveted project. Today we have word that actress Lindsay Lohan may be throwing her hat in the ring for the Ariel role, after a new post on Instagram this weekend.
While Lindsay Lohan doesn't specifically state that she wants the Ariel role, she posted a side-by-side picture of herself with red hair, and the redhaired animated version of Ariel. She didn't state anything else on Instagram, only using the hashtag #TheLittleMermaid. It isn't known if the script is even ready or if the studio is ready to start the auditioning process, but we don't »
Ahead of its VOD and DVD release this March, a trailer has arrived online for the new action thriller Check Point, which sees WWE star Bill Goldberg starring alongside Kenny Johnson (The Shield), William Forsythe (Boardwalk Empire), Fred ‘The Hammer’ Williamson (From Dusk Till Dawn) and the late Ricky Harris (Everybody Hates Chris) in his final screen role.
Check Point follows a local vagrant (Johnson) who discovers a ‘sleeper cell’ home-grown Terrorist plot in a small town where everyone knows each other, or so they thought. With the help of his best friend (Goldberg), he must gather a team of unlikely heroes to rise up to protect their country. In Ricky Harris’ last film role, the late actor played a former U.S. Army veteran who helps foil the plot to attack the U.S. government. The film touches on difficult topics, such as war veterans and Ptsd.

Harris, who died of a heart attack in December at the age of 54, left an indelible impression on everyone he met, actor William Forsythe tells People.
“He had this way about him — such humility,” he says of his costar. “We met on set and he came over and was so respectful. The way he presented himself was impressive. We had an instant bond — it took place right there on camera.”
Forsythe stars as The Sheriff in the upcoming film »
