Why You Should Be Watching: Reign

31 May 2014 12:05 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Period drama, 22 episodes aired

Created by Laurie McCarthy & Stephanie SenGupta

Starring Adelaide Kane, Megan Follows, Torrance Coombs, Toby Regbo and Alan van Sprang

Returns to The CW for a second season in the fall

Of all the new offerings from The CW in the 2013-14 season, Reign outclasses its competition by delving totally and unashamedly into its melodrama. Historical accuracy be damned, this series ranks among the best of its genre (including Downton Abbey) by being ridiculous and ridiculously fun. Not since the first season of The O.C. have I seen a debut that has burned through story so quickly without faltering much along the way. Of course, that series couldn’t quite match the creative energy of its first season for the rest of its run, but Reign is poised for a solid second season after smartly turning its attention to a show-wide conflict in its first finale. »

As the CW hit's King Henry (Alan Van Sprang) descends further into madness, the rest of the royals will be forced to make some difficult decisions, especially our resident queens, Mary (Adelaide Kane) and Catherine (Megan Follows). Yes, you know things are bad when these two enemies are forced to team up. We've got an exclusive sneak peek at tonight's episode of Reign, fittingly titled "Long Live the King," which finds Mary plotting against her husband, Francis (Toby Regbo)! Will Mary really be »

CW's ‘Reign’ First Look: Lesbian Sex by Order of the King (Exclusive Photo)

20 March 2014 11:36 AM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

King Henry II (Alan van Sprang), you so crazy. He takes a kinky turn on Thursday's episode of The CW's “Reign.” We already knew Henry was an 11 on the freak meter, but we learned on last week's episode that sometimes he just wants the attention of his alpha queen. Catherine's (Megan Follows) hand in his face and a “Don't ruin it” shut that down quickly. So on Thursday's episode, he's back to tapping the ladies-in-waiting of the castle — extra emphasis on the plural “ladies.” Also read: CW Renews ‘Supernatural,’ ‘Vampire Diaries,’ ‘Arrow,’ ‘Originals’ & ‘Reign’ for 2014-15 Seasons In TheWrap's exclusive photo. »

Reign's Wedding Bombshell: Torrance Coombs on Mary's "Heartbreaking" Choice, Upcoming Time Jump and More Scoop

6 March 2014 7:00 PM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Congratulations are in order. And funeral preparations. Spoiler Alert, major Reign spoilers ahead! That's right, in a move we did not see coming, Reign actually had Mary (Adelaide Kane) and Francis (Toby Regbo) say "I do" in tonight's episode of the CW drama. For real. But wait, what about Nostradamus' (Rossif Sutherland) prophecy that their union would mean the end of Francis' life? Oh, he thought Clarissa, Catherine's (Megan Follows) true first-born filled that, but guess who didn't really die in last week's episode? Francis' death is back in play! Gulp. As for Mary's other love and Francis' half-brother Bash (Torrance Coombs), he was left heartbroken when »

Reign's Clarissa Explains It All! Katie Boland Talks Acting Under a Burlap Sack and Shia Labeouf Plagiarizing Her Look

27 February 2014 10:30 AM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

It's not every day you start an interview with this very serious question: "Are you glad you finally got to take the bag off your head?" Then again, not every role on TV is quite like Clarissa (Katie Boland) on Reign. First introduced as a castle ghost, sneaking about in the shadows, at once protecting Mary (Adelaide Kane) and killing her friends. (Rough twist, Aylee!) But the CW hit finally revealed Clarissa's true identity (and face!) in its last episode: She's Queen Catherine's (Megan Follows) illegitimate daughter who was believed to be dead. "I am definitely glad that I finally got to take the bag off of my head, though it was an interesting challenge acting under a bag," Katie »

'Reign': Megan Follows, Torrance Coombs talk Clarissa, Olivia's return, a Francis-Lola connection, and more

27 February 2014 8:00 AM, PST | EW - Inside TV | See recent - Inside TV news »

It’s just about time to return to France, and therefore, the complicated lives of our favorite royals (and not-so-royals). When we last visited Reign, Francis was no where to be found, Clarissa was outed as Catherine’s daughter, and Mary was taking a bath. Well, that was before her bath was poisoned by Queen Catherine, who was quickly reprimanded and taken to chambers as Bash rescued his beloved.

So what does the rest of the season hold for the doomed Catherine, her disfigured daughter, and the always evolving love triangle? We caught up, separately, with Megan Follows (Catherine) and »

'Reign': Megan Follows On Clarissa's Revenge

27 February 2014 7:46 AM, PST | Access Hollywood | See recent Access Hollywood news »

Earlier in the season, "Reign" producers promised that fans would get the real story about Clarissa, the mercurial force in the walls of the castle. And now that her identity has been revealed (she's Queen Catherine's firstborn, secret daughter), Clarissa will become a major source of drama.

"I think what you'll see is that Clarissa's dangerous to me because I don't understand her and I don't control her, and she brings up something that I don't want," Megan Follows, who plays Queen Catherine, told "And I think that's the difference that you'll see between myself and Mary, is ...

'Reign' star Megan Follows: 'Clarissa scares the bejesus out of Catherine'

27 February 2014 6:02 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

When "Reign" returns on Thursday (Feb. 27), the entire royal court of France must deal with the fallout from Queen Catherine's secret -- that the castle ghost is actually Clarissa, the product of an affair with one of King Henry's friends -- when Clarissa kidnaps Catherine and Henry's two youngest sons.

Star Megan Follows, who plays the intimidating queen, tells Zap2it that her character is confused by Clarissa since she's the only person she can't control. Read on for more on the big reveal, how her betrayal will affect Catherine's relationship with Henry, when Francis will come back into the picture, and more about the episode, "Royal Blood."

Zap2it: When did you find out that Clarissa was Catherine's daughter?

Follows: I had my suspicions. Even on before it was revealed I had a suspicion -- episodes and episodes and episodes before -- my maternal spidey senses had me just know that Clarissa was mine. »

Let me tell you a not-so-secret secret: Catherine, and her portrayer Megan Follows, is the true Mvp of the show. Adelaide Kane is a fantastic lead and Mary Queen of Scots is a likable and interesting teenage royal. But Catherine, and Megan Follows, makes this show spin on all wheels, cylinders, or other spherical objects.

Except, tonight might just be too much. No, excuse me. It is Way Way too much. »

'Reign' sneak peek: Queen Catherine sasses Mary's Ladies-in-Waiting

30 January 2014 7:00 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Everyone loves a villain -- they always have the best one-liners. That might be why Queen Catherine (Megan Follows) is one of the most fun characters on "Reign" (though maybe not a straight villain). Zap2it has a sneak peek at Thursday, Jan. 30 episode of the CW hit, titled "Sacrifice," that features some of Catherine's best verbal quips.

When the Queen is suspected of orchestrating a plot to kill Bash, Mary's three Ladies-in-Waiting share some words with an under surveillance Catherine. She asks, "The three of you have come to buck each other up because I'm so frightening, or did you all just want the pleasure of seeing me brought so low?"

Quips Kenna, "I suppose a little bit of each, actually."

Catherine has a few words for her -- and Greer and Lola too. Check out the clip below, and tune in to "Reign" on The CW at 9 p. »

Reign Bombshell: A Wedding Will Happen By Season's End! Get Scoop on What's to Come for Mary and the Royal Brothers

23 January 2014 7:00 PM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Is it too late to change the name on the wedding invitations? Reign returned with a roar tonight, completely shaking things up at French Court when Mary (Adelaide Kane), in an attempt to save both Francis (Toby Regbo) and Bash (Torrance Coombs), proposed a so-insane-it-might-just-be-brilliant plan to the king: legitimize Bash and allow them to be married, securing an alliance and Francis' safety. And guess what? It worked, much to Queen Catherine (Megan Follows) dismay as she stands to lose everything on the CW hit. So how in the world will Reign top its midseason return? With a lavish affair. Yes, that's right—showrunner Laurie McCarthy exclusively told E! News that two characters will be swapping vows »
