23 August 2016 8:15 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Midnight Run, 1988.

Directed by Martin Brest.

Starring Robert De Niro, Charles Grodin, Yaphet Kotto, John Ashton, Dennis Farina and Joe Pantoliano.

Synopsis:

Midnight Run arrives on Blu-ray in the Us in a new Collector’s Edition from Shout! Factory that includes a new interview with Robert De Niro along with the interviews that were part of the Blu-ray released in the UK in 2015. A vintage “making of” featurette is also included. The disc features a new 2K scan of the film.

In the annals of great screenwriting, Midnight Run is an underrated classic. It’s one of those movies with a great setup and nearly flawless execution through acts two and three. The story twists and turns in unpredictable but satisfying ways, reversals of fortune happen at the right moments, and the ending isn’t a surprise, but it feels just right. Throw in a great cast and top-notch directing, »

‘Family Guy’ Won’t Do Any More ‘Star Wars’ Parodies, and Here’s Why

23 July 2016 2:05 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Don’t expect to see any more “Star Wars” parodies from Fox’s animated hit “Family Guy.”

The show produced three “Star Wars” homages (2007’s “Blue Harvest,” 2009’s “Something, Something, Something Dark Side” and 2010’s “It’s a Trap!”) several years ago. But that was back before Disney acquired Lucasfilm and jumpstarted the franchise.

“The new regime is a little more difficult to deal with,” executive producer Alec Sulkin said. “Before we were just dealing with Lucasfilm. Seth [MacFarlane] had a good relationship with them. It’s not that Seth has a bad relationship with Disney, but they’re a bit more rigid.”

Executive producer Rich Appel said it was understandable, as “they’re a little more careful now that they’re rolling out new movies.”

There’s going to be a TV show based on Guy Ritchie’s ‘Snatch’

20 April 2016 11:51 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

A TV series based on Guy Ritchie’s 2000 movie Snatch is in development over at Crackle.

The planned show was mentioned in an official press release sent out by the U.S. streaming service just yesterday. Here’s a bit more about it from that original release.

New 10-episode, one-hour drama series based on the world of the wildly popular Guy Ritchie movie, Snatch.

Much like the television series, ‘Fargo,’ Crackle will carry the spirit of the setting in the original feature film, while creating a new world born from the original movie. Informed by a real life gold bullion heist in London, the show centers on a group of twenty-something, up and coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime. Happy Leap Day - and Leap Year, too, of course. And if you're one of the few who happen to be born on this day, happy birthday - finally! Leap Day is literally the rarest of dates on which anything can happen, but it's not without its merits and its not without its share of historical happenings. It's just that it gets a lot fewer of them, as a result of a cruel quirk of the Gregorian calendar. In case you've written this day off as just an extra 24 hours tacked randomly onto the shortest month, well here's a list »

Bottle Shock – The ‘Tribute to Alan Rickman’ Review

31 January 2016 4:44 PM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

I Hate wine!  Seriously, no kidding, I cannot drink it, smell it and I don’t like to talk about it.  The origin of this distaste for fermented grape juice?  It was when I was in the Navy (there he goes again!) I was on liberty in Brindisi, Italy (Bill remembers!)  We were in a restaurant on a bright, sunny Italian Sunday afternoon.  We ordered food and wine.  The wine came in pitchers, not bottles.  I don’t recall the food ever arriving, don’t remember leaving the restaurant, going back to the ship, none of that, complete blackout.

Literally one minute in the restaurant, the next lying face down in my rack strangling on my own sick.  I won’t go into any more sordid details, I’ll spare you that.  Sufficient to note I was in trouble with the Navy, had gotten horribly sick on a liberty boat, »
