While we're filing this one strictly under Rumour Control, it's certainly interesting: Robert De Niro might be joining the Machete movie. Robert Rodriguez has been harboring plans for a while to turn his Grindhouse trailer into a full fledged riot of violence and blood. And now Bloody Disgusting has a tip that he is lining up cast members. The biggest name? Robert De Niro. He's apparently planning to play an evil senator in the film, taking over the role from Jeff Fahey, who appeared in the original trailer. Also considering...

Those of you lucky enough to have seen Grindhouse during its theatrical run can attest that the faux trailers were arguably the best part of the whole experience. And while we’re still waiting for the Weinstein Company to do the right thing and offer fans The Complete Grindhouse Experience on DVD and Blu-ray, Robert Rodriguez isn’t waiting any longer to turn his trailer for Machete into a feature length film!
Machete himself, the awesome Danny Trejo, talked to Gordon and the Whale about the soon-to-be rolling project and confirmed that it would begin shooting in five weeks' time.
This is awesome news. The Machete trailer is, of course, attached to Planet Terror, making it the only Grindhouse trailer available on home video. Let’s hope Rodriguez can get Cheech Marin and Jeff Fahey back in their respective roles as well for maximum kick-assery!

Though no plot details were released Andrew did share with us a mighty fine pedigree of actors and production talent he is lining up for his film. He has an in-talks cast of Will Patton, Jeff Fahey, Karl Urban, Danny Trejo, Tom Savini and Zoe Bell. The score will be provided by Andrea Morricone, the son of the legendary composer Ennio Morricone. Andrew has shared with us some great news. His production has been given a few dollars more and they will now be going as a live action shoot in New Mexico moved back to mid-August. In the mean time he thought it would be neat to share a few words from Sergio and we

The makers of what looks to be be a fascinating independent retrospective documentary about the Psycho films and their spin-offs, The Psycho Legacy, have released a new trailer. It comes ahead of a possible release of the film later this year. It can be viewed by clicking on the Trailer tab above.
The original Psycho will be 50 years old next year. It was directed by Alfred Hitchcock from a script by Joseph Stefano based on the novel by Robert Bloch. The film helped to make a star of Anthony Perkins, who played the murderous Norman Bates. Psycho became notorious for a scene in which the character of Marion Crane (played by Janet Leigh) is knifed in the shower. It is also remembered for the iconic image of the Bates Motel.
Psycho spawned two theatrical sequels, Psycho II in 1983 and Psycho III in 1986, as well as a fourth made-for-television prequel, Psycho IV: The Beginning

Well now, here’s an intriguing fusion of the old and new. Executive producer Sergio Donati (Once Upon A Time In The West) is backing Andrew McKenzie’s Hired Guns, a spaghetti western due to start shooting in July with an in-talks cast of Will Patton, Jeff Fahey, Karl Urban, Keith David, Danny Trejo, Tom Savini and Zoe Bell and the score provided by Andrea Morricone who, yes, is the son of Ennio. This alone would be enough to catch the attention. The cast fits, Donati obviously knows the score and speaking of the score ... well, it’s hard to argue with the Morricone heritage, now isn’t it? But here’s where things get interesting: The film is going to be shot digitally on the Red camera and then put through the same rotoscope animation technique pioneered on Waking Life and subsequently employed for A Scanner Darkly and others.

Tom Savini, whose recently-released and well-reviewed documentary project His Name Was Jason (see our review here) was in Chicago promoting that film, and took a moment to share details on some upcoming projects, along with some statements about what Fangoria means to him.
“His Name Was Jason just came out and of course just before that was Fantastic Flesh. As far as acting, I’m supposed to play an English bare-knuckle boxer in this one thing but we don’t have the contracts yet. I’m supposed to play a gunfighter who is also pretty good with a bullwhip in a Western called Hired Guns shooting in Vancouver and they’ve also got Jeff Fahey and Zoe Bell. And of course the school is launching the fourth semester of the film program and directing Chill Factor episodes so I’m really busy.”
Savini was quick to point out the importance

Chicago – ABC’s “Lost” returns next Wednesday, January 21st, with a pair of episodes that more than live up to the expectations and the high bar set by season four, one of the best of 2008.
Perfectly balancing a healthy mix of answers to questions set up by the end of last season and asking new ones for what promises to be an excellent fifth season, episode 5.1, “Because You Left,” and episode 5.2, “The Lie,” are very likely to satisfy everyone who tunes in.
Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Jorge Garcia, Naveen Andrews, and Josh Holloway are back and one of the best shows on television has returned from its time off without missing a single complicated step.

The upcoming episode of "Cold Case" proves that journalism can be a very risky business. The team re-opens the case of a 1988 murder in Philadelphia where a news anchor named Jane Everett was found dead.
When Jane joined the team of anchors, the show jumped to number 1 in ratings and she consequently earned a resentment from her co-worker, Mort. Her dream of becoming a great news anchorwoman was ended when she uncovered a scandal involving a local factory's deadly asbestos levels. She was found strangled in the park in the middle of the night before she managed to report her findings.
Titled "Breaking News", the episode will air January 11 on CBS.
On other news, it was recently reported that Jeff Fahey who played the copter pilot in "Lost", will make a guest star appearance in an early 2009 episode of the show. He will take the role as a boutique motorcycle
