In a few short hours, many of us will finally be celebrating 2013. However, the year 2012 for Rupert Grint and his fans has been a fantastic one. First came the premiere of Into The White in which Rupert played Gunner Robert Smith to much praise in the Norwegian press. The film is currently out on DVD in many countries. In the UK it is known as Cross of Honour, and for those with a blu-ray player you'll be able to see the film without any region restrictions on it. He also took on the role of Carl in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman opposite Shia Labeouf which will premiere in January at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. He also signed on to play in the Beach Boys drummer Brian Wilson biopic The Dummer as Stan Shapiro opposite Aaron Eckhart and Chloe Grace Moretz. He also recently completed the film Cbgb »

With Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy now at a close and seeing how I offered up a "Paused" article for both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight back before The Dark Knight Rises hit theaters I felt it was only appropriate to complete the trilogy by offering a full look at the Dark Knight trilogy in still images, including 33 new screen captures from Rises. Over the course of the next pages you will find screen captures from all three films in order as I compiled the previous "Paused" installments for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and added the new images from The Dark Knight Rises. You can begin by clicking on the corresponding metaphorical logo below or just scroll to the bottom of the post and click to the Next Page to begin the journey. In all, including the three images below, there are 85 images from the trilogy included in this retrospective. »

Gerard Butler Actioner ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Gets New Poster!

20 November 2012 6:30 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Since his breakout role in Zack Snyder’s visually-stunning swords n’ sandals epic 300, Gerard Butler has dabbled in a number of other genres, yet always looks his best in action man mode (although Gamer gave me a damn headache). After tepid romantic and comedy roles, it’s the likes of Law Abiding Citizen and Machine Gun Preacher that live longer in the memory.

Olympus Has Fallen is the latest action-thriller that sees Butler as our hero. It’s directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) with the Scottish heartthrob as a former Secret Service agent working against the clock to prevent an imminent terrorist attack on the White House. It does sound a little similar to Roland Emmerich’s forthcoming White House Down but Fuqua’s effort may have an advantage by arriving a few months earlier.

Second Olympus Has Fallen Poster

17 November 2012 10:37 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Olympus Has Fallen is one of two movies arriving next year that feature a terrorist takeover of the White House. It will beat White House Down to theaters by three months, and it's usually the first film out of the gate that makes the loudest impact.

White House Down stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx. Olympus Has Fallen stars Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman. So, it sounds like they are on equal turf in terms of cast. White House Down is directed by Roland Emmerich, who makes loud, bombastic action movies, and he certainly likes destroying shit. So expect to see the White House reduced to a pile of crumbs by the end. Antoine Fuqua, on the other hand, is an actor's director, and he led Denzel Washington to an Oscar for Training Day.

So, essentially, one will be a classy meal out at a nice restaurant, while the other »

Second Trailer For The Host Online

13 November 2012 7:55 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Turns out Will Smith, Aaron Eckhart, Tom Cruise and Lukas Haas were all wrong. You don’t need weapons (or country music) to fight off an alien invasion. You just need emotions. Actually, based on this trailer for The Host, the weapons might still come in handy (maybe not the music). Check out the new footage above.Following on the heels of the poster comes this new promo, which uses more of the material from the Comic-Con presentation we saw back in July.Saoirse Ronan stars as Melanie Stryder, a human girl living on a near-future Earth that has been almost completely taken over by the ‘Souls’, a parasitic alien race that takes over human bodies by infiltrating the brain and replacing the consciousness with their own.But when Melanie is captured and the alien Wanderer is inserted under emergency conditions, the new arrival in her mind-space finds that she »

New Poster for Antoine Fuqua’s Olympus Has Fallen with Gerard Butler

13 November 2012 7:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Next year, the White House will be taken over by terrorists in not one, but two action/thriller blockbusters. Led by Gerard Butler, Antoine Fuqua’s Olympus Has Fallen will be first out the gate, hitting Us cinemas in April. And following shortly after will be Roland Emmerich’s Channing Tatum-led White House Down (the first images from which we saw during the week).

With half a year left to go before Fuqua’s hits cinemas, a new poster with Butler front and centre has made its way online.

Olympus Has Fallen is an action thriller starring Gerard Butler, a disgraced Secret Service agent who is called back to duty when the White House is taken over by terrorists.  The movie also stars Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, Cole Hauser, Ashley Judd, Melissa Leo, Dylan McDermott, Radha Mitchell and Rick Yune.”

First Poster For Gerard Butler’s Olympus Has Fallen

10 November 2012 10:13 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Competing films are becoming a bit of a trend in Hollywood lately. Currently, The Girl and Hitchcock are duking it out for who can offer up the best portrayal of the master director and back in the Spring, Mirror Mirror and Snow White and The Huntsman battled over who could present the best version of the classic fairytale.

Now, we have another pair of competing films in White House Down and Olympus Has Fallen, which both present a story revolving around the White House coming under attack and the fate of the nation falling into the hands of a Secret Service agent. Compelling stuff, right?

Though we haven’t seen much from either film just yet, we did get some official stills for White House Down last week and today, we’re seeing the first poster for its competitor, Olympus Has Fallen, which is being helmed by Antoine Fuqua.

Fairytale films are in fashion – but can Hollywood deliver a happy ending?

9 November 2012 2:35 PM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Next year's flurry of fairytale film adaptations promises some sinister thrills – but fairy stories have always been dark at heart

Harry's long gone, but wands are still selling. 2013, comme 2012, promises a score of classic fairytale film adaptations – a legion of Pinocchios, Peter Pans, Cinderellas and Wizards of Oz. A cursory squint into the crystal ball that is the Imdb website confirms that most of the upcoming fairytale films will be tormented, adult-oriented affairs; expect the adjective "twisted' to appear with some frequency. The sort of films in which for every lie, Pinocchio has to wash blood off his hands. With sandpaper mittens. That sort of thing.

The Dark Heart of Fairy Tales, a season of older films currently playing at the Barbican, proves Hollywood isn't doing anything new. The screenings mark the bicentenary of the first publication of the Brothers Grimm stories, while acknowledging that popular fairy stories mainly derive »

Exclusive: Melissa Leo Talks Flight

2 November 2012 4:18 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Melissa Leo Talks Flight, in theaters Friday, November 2nd

Oscars have been won with less screen time, but don't bring up the subject to Melissa Leo, who shares a short, but very intense and important scene with Denzel Washington in Flight. The actress worked on the Robert Zemeckis directed drama for one day, and would rather not dwell on any award aspirations for her work. Despite her first Oscar win, she claims to be a blue collar actress. Someone who sees the craft as a job, not a cause for celebrity.

We recently caught up with Melissa Leo to talk about this and more on the eve of Flight's release. It's Robert Zemeckis' first live action movie in more than a decade, and it proves that the director is still at the top of his game when it comes to dealing with real flesh and blood people on tangible movie sets. »

"Olympus" To Hit Before "Down"

28 October 2012 10:33 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

War has officially been declared between duelling action thrillers about a terrorist takeover of the White House.

FilmDistrict has scored the domestic distribution rights to Antoine Fuqua's "Olympus Has Fallen" and has set an April 5th 2013 release date.

That puts it nearly three months ahead of Roland Emmerich’s "White House Down" which is currently slated for a June 28th 2013 release.

On the surface this is essentially the same scenario as earlier this year with rival "Snow White" projects "Mirror Mirror" and "Snow White and the Huntsman". However, those films were aimed at entirely different audiences and featured completely differing approaches.

While no publicity materials from either film has really hit yet ('Olympus' does have a film market poster), both sound remarkably similar with the action focused on a Secret Service agent trying to stop a hostile force invading the U.S. President's residence. In fact, 'Olympus' was at »

Antoine Fuqua’s ‘Olympus’ Will Fall in April; Sorry, Roland Emmerich

26 October 2012 5:00 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Tough day to be Roland Emmerich. Since news first hit the wire that we’d be getting two White-House-taken-over-by-terrorists films in 2013 (one from Emmerich, one from Antoine Fuqua), the heat has been on and the question has remained: which one will we see first? According to Deadline Hollywood, that would be Fuqua’s Olympus Has Fallen, which FilmDistrict will release on April 5, 2013. Emmerich’s White House Down will trail behind it nearly three months later, arriving on June 28, 2013. Just to clarify, Olympus is the film that stars Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, and Angela Bassett. It centers on Butler’s character, a Secret Service agent, who attempts to stop a hostile takeover of the White House. White House Down stars Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and James Woods. That film centers on Tatum’s character, a Secret Service agent, who attempts to stop a hostile takeover of the White House. You »
