Check Out Aaron Eckhart in Battle: Los Angeles

29 December 2009 8:09 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

I like Aaron Eckhart and I’m actually looking forward to his next movie where he leads a platoon of Marines against… aliens! How can that not be good? The film is called Battle: Los Angeles and the title says it all (except the aliens part).

Ekchart was cast as the lead back in November of 2008, following the success of The Dark Knight and this summer, it was announced that Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena and Bridget Moynahan would be joining the fight as well, alongside Ramon Rodriguez (TF2: Revenge of the Fallen) and R&B singer–songwriter/record producer/actor, Ne-Yo.

Two new photos surfaced over the holidays for the sci-fi action flick; one depicting Eckhart in battle attire and the other of an explosion.

Aaron Eckhart and Aliens Battle: Los Angeles

29 December 2009 5:16 AM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Aliens just love to take out Los Angeles, don’t they?  It seems, in recent memory, anyway, they don’t have any problems taking out the land of milk and Hollywood honeys, either.  Well, they’ve never had to contend with a pissed off Aaron Eckhart, have they?  The guy pretty much wiped out the Mob single handedly, and he did it with half a face.  Imagine the kind of destruction he can cause to bad guys when his looks are intact.

io9 got these shots of the upcoming film Battle: Los Angeles.  Some of them, the ones with the giant e’splosion, were taken by a local Louisian-ian(?) who described the scene being filmed as a “Mushroom cloud of fire caused when production company explodes bus.”

Set Photos from Battle: Los Angeles Starring Aaron Eckhart

23 December 2009 4:43 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Some new set photos from Battle: Los Angeles have popped up online.  They’re not bad for set photos when you consider one of them shows a mushroom cloud going up.  That’s slightly better than an actor in costume leaving their trailer.  I guess that’s the true power of mushroom clouds.  Oh, and they’re the effect of an explosion killing thousands upon thousands of people.  That’s also one of the things they’re known for.  There’s also a photo of Aaron Eckhart in costume looking like a bad-ass.

Here’s the official plot synopsis so you know what causes mushroom clouds and bad-ass Eckhart: When unknown forces put the City of Angels under attack, it’s up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to come to the rescue. As the invasion hits the streets of L.A., the Marines become »

Battle: Los Angeles Set Photos Reveal A Rugged Aaron Eckhart

After Love Happens, I.m thrilled to see Aaron Eckhart looking rough and tough again. Jonathan Hoffon (via Slash Film) snapped an awesome close-up of Eckhart on the set of Jonathan Liebesman.s Battle: Los Angeles. Eckhart plays a marine staff sergeant who leads his platoon into battle against alien forces. The story is told in real-time from the perspective of the Marines. To get a taste of what they.re up against, check out the second photo posted by manwithscaryspouse spotted by i09. The photographer describes the scene as .Mushroom cloud of fire caused when production company explodes bus.. The image was captured back in September just before the shoot relocated to a set in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Unless someone gets some more set photos, don.t look for much more material from Battle: Los Angeles for a while; the film isn.t expected to hit theaters until early »

Photos from the Set of Battle: Los Angeles Appear

23 December 2009 3:30 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Battle: Los Angeles is a real-time alien invasion thriller staring Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez and Bridget Moynahan, directed by Jonathan Liebesman, who previously took charge of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and The Killing Room. It deals with a platoon meeting an invading alien army and two set photos have sprung up and point to an Independence Day for the 21st century.

I was a fan of The Killing Room, and Liebesman is certainly moving from the minimalist to the massive with his take on an alien invasion of Los Angeles (the title is kind of unambiguous) and I’m hoping writers Scott Silver and Christopher Bertolini can find something new in this road most travelled by. Eckhart looks suitably disgruntled and I’m hoping the real-time angle will bring a momentum to the film.

Best of the Decade #10: The Dark Knight (2008)

16 December 2009 7:20 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Some people are going to love this choice, and others are going to hate it, while a smug few will simply roll their eyes and call it predictable, but as far as I'm concerned, The Dark Knight is a necessary inclusion on any Best of Decade list. Jay already talked about the ubiquity of comic book movies over the past ten years in his Spider-Man 2 write-up [1], and yet this is so much more than just another blockbuster superhero flick. The performances, the writing and the direction all treat the material like a top notch crime drama that is both deep and gripping. It just so happens that the two main characters also dress up like a bat and a clown. The death of Heath Ledger certainly played a role in making this movie appear larger than life, and created a compelling real-life narrative outside of the film that the »

Golden Globe-Nominated 'Hangover' Takes A Swig, 'Inglourious' Storms Shelves And More, In The DVD Report For Dec. 15

15 December 2009 4:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Getting some of the funniest guys in show business and dropping them in Vegas for a bachelor party sounds like a winning formula, but nobody expected "The Hangover" to gross a whopping $450 million dollars worldwide. Now the film is hitting DVD and Blu-ray, and is our lead film for this week's DVD Report.

Todd Phillips already had hits like "Old School" and "Road Trip" in the bank at the time he was begged to director "The Hangover," and the veteran comedy helmer pulled together a cast of unproven but fan-favorite stars. Headlining the zany misadventure romp would be Bradley Cooper (best known as the quintessential a-hole in "Wedding Crashers), Ed Helms ("Daily Show" and "The Office" alum) and underground comedy icon Zach Galifianakis. While all three shared a level of success, none had ever held a film together on their own, making this a considerable experiment for all involved.

2010 Golden Globe Nominations By The Numbers

15 December 2009 11:00 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

In case you missed all of the yapping that we and other media outlets have been doing today, the nominations for the 2010 Golden Globe Awards dropped this morning. As is the case every year, there are some obvious picks, a few surprises and plenty of discussion points to get the talking heads... uhhh... talking.

The best place to start is with a straight-up numbers breakdown. Of the 12 completely open movie categories -- Best Foreign and Best Animated don't really apply, as they're so specific -- there are some interesting trends to consider. The Golden Globe Awards are traditionally viewed as a barometer for what to expect at the Academy Awards later in the year. Reading it isn't foolproof of course, and the landscape could well be changed next year due to tweaked voting rules and an expanded Best Picture category, but it never hurts to ponder the possibilities.
