Many changes are afoot for "Cougar Town." Not only is the Courteney Cox-fronted show jumping to a new network (TBS), but production will be in the hands of a new showrunner: Ric Swartzlander, reports EW, who previously helmed "Gary Unmarried."
The news comes less than two weeks after "Cougar Town" creators Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel stepped down.
"As a producer, I can't wait. This is a fresh start," Cox told Vulture when Biegel and Lawrence left. "It will feel like the same show, but we're going to have a new [showunner], there will be new people, new changes."
Biegel and Lawrence will still be "actively" involved in the show, but Swartzlander will run day-to-day operations. Meanwhile, Lawrence will develop new projects for Warner Brothers TV.
TBS plans to start airing a new 15-episode fourth season in 2013 and holds an option for a fifth season, too. »

In the wake of TBS picking up "Cougar Town" after ABC dropped it, Courteney Cox tells Zap2it, "I am looking forward to being on a network where we will get a lot of support."
No need to read between the lines. She pretty much says what had long been known in the industry -- the cast and showrunners had felt ABC was not helping the show enough.
"They will promo us like crazy," Cox says of TBS, which will begin airing new episodes of "Cougar Town" early next year.
Co-creator Bill Lawrence is stepping down as showrunner, but Cox says, "I feel like he will take care of us in whatever capacity he can, as much as he can. But I feel like we will be taken care of. And he is so amazing."

In case you hadn’t noticed, EW is just a little excited about Magic Mike, the upcoming male stripper movie in which Channing Tatum finally takes off his shirt. While exotic lady dancers have been baring it all on film since before Edison invented the Kinetoscope, their Y-chromosome counterparts haven’t had nearly as much onscreen exposure.
We’re tempted to call Magic Mike an important, pioneering movie about naked dudes — but it’s not the first to shatter Hollywood’s onscreen stripper glass ceiling. Tatum and his costars are pelvic thrusting on the shoulders of giants who are also doing pelvic thrusts. »

Although Cougar Town was saved from cancellation by a last-minute move to TBS, like its near-weekly screenings of the movie Road Trip, some things will be missing. Namely, series co-creators Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel, who will step down from their day-to-day showrunning duties and instead take on more of a "consulting" role in its basic-cable incarnation. The news was first reported by Vulture during an interview with Courteney Cox, who called Lawrence's leaving a "fresh start"—an optimistic assessment that naturally led to enough people freaking out, apparently, that Lawrence had to issue the following edict on Twitter »

With Wednesday's announcement that Cougar Town would officially be coming to TBS, we couldn't help but ask star Courteney Cox the second burning question on our minds: Has she, like her alter ego Jules during last night's episode, ever forgotten to flush? "I actually don't flush a lot," she admitted to Vulture at the Turner networks upfront luncheon at Del Posto. "That's because I pee about five times during the night. If I flushed every time, somebody would would wake up. I flush when it's important, you know?" So that's settled! As for the move from ABC to a new network, the actress couldn't be happier about the cul-de-sac crew boozing into the New Year, and it's all thanks to series creator Bill Lawrence's "never say die" attitude. "You know, Bill kept saying this show is not going to go away, it's not going to go away. When he »

TBS welcomed "Cougar Town," its new star acquisition, Wednesday morning at the TNT/TBS 2012 Upfront presentation.
"Cougar Town" is "the only show that consumes more red wine at the upfronts than you do," TBS executive vice president and head of programming Michael Wright quipped when he introduced the comedy -- which Turner saved from it's not-so-bright future with ABC -- to assembled media and advertisers.
As the show's cast took to the stage, Courteney Cox spoke warmly about "Cougar Town's" move from ABC to TBS. "Everyone at 'Cougar Town' is thrilled to be a part of this new home at TBS. This network is a destination for new comedy and we know that 'Cougar Town' and TBS will be a perfect fit."
The other major development of the upfront presentation was Turner's plan to accelerate original programming to a year-round schedule on both networks.
As part of that strategy, »

Well I can’t be too mad at ABC for its many Cougar Town preemptions because last night we got a double dose of our favorite cul-de-sac crew. (Also, cheers to TBS!) So in lieu of a normal recap, we’ll just recount the night’s most memorable moments and lines. And with a full hour of Jules & Co., there was plenty of funny.
In the first episode, “Square One,” Jules and Grayson were forced to move in together after last week’s hurricane damaged Grayson’s house. Meanwhile, Ellie and Laurie fought over who was the sexiest. They enlisted »

So here is a slight change of pace – I'll be branching out into other areas apart from Doctor Who, including film franchises, TV shows and comedies. How's about kicking off with a scary movie series then? Newbies be warned – there are so many spoilers in this article, that Doctor Who's River Song would explode with smug rage.
By the middle of the 1990s, the horror film had seemingly died for good. Just like Dracula slowly rotting away to a skeleton, the horror genre had slowly ebbed away for the past decade or so. Hammer Horror classics from the 1960s and 1970s had given way to popular horror franchises in the 1980s such as Friday The 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street, but even by the mid-1990s, these had seemingly vanished into the ether. However, acclaimed director Wes Craven along with Kevin Williamson were to breathe new life into the rotting genre. »

TBS is rolling the dice on ABC's Cougar Town starring Courteney Cox by taking over the series for at least the next season, the show's fourth.
This past season on ABC, Cougar Town hit a slippery ratings slope when the network moved it away from its effective Modern Family lead-in to Tuesday nights. Even though 61 episodes were already in the can and only two seasons were left to reach syndication, ABC was thought to be on the cusp of axing the show or cutting its episodes back to 13.
Don't expect TBS to cut corners on Cougar Town just to ride it out to 100 episodes. They picked up one season guaranteed for 15 episodes, more than ABC would have been able to offer, and have an option open on a second.
Co-creator Bill Lawrence dropped some additional information about the Cougar Town move to TBS during a chat with TVLine earlier today. »

Actors Courteney Cox, Busy Phillips and Josh Hopkins are celebrating after finding a new network to call home for their U.S. comedy Cougar Town.
The TV sitcom's future has been in jeopardy over the last few months, with Cox and Phillips famously launching independent promotional campaigns in a bid to boost ratings amid fears the show, which premiered in 2009, was facing cancellation.
The Friends star also took a stand against ABC network bosses and accused them of failing to properly market the series, but on Thursday, it was announced that executives had landed a deal with rival channel TBS to give the show a new lease of life.
Cox and her co-stars are overjoyed at being given the chance to make a fourth season of the comedy and they wasted no time in taking to Twitter.com to share the news with fans and thank them for their continued support.
An excited Cox writes, "Cougar Town is moving to TBS!! So happy we get to continue making our show! We cannot thank you all enough for your support. Seriously, guys. Thank You".
Phillips tweeted, "It's Official: Cougar Town Jumps From ABC to TBS in Two-Season Deal," and Hopkins added, "CougarTown trending world wide. Thanks all".
Cox's estranged husband David Arquette, who serves as the show's co-executive producer and makes a cameo in the upcoming season finale on 29 May, also raved about the news, posting, "Attn (attention) Cougar town fans... Thanks for your support - thank you TBS". »

Apparently ABC just couldn't justify keeping Cougar Town around for another season, but fans need not worry about losing the Courteney Cox led comedy series. Today TBS sent out a press release announcing they had rescued the series and picked it up for a fourth season that will begin airing sometime in early 2013. All the stars will be back for at least one more round, and if the ratings deliver on the cable network, we may get even more than a fourth season. It's refreshing to know that series have more options for survival at this point in TV history when primetime networks aren't willing to keep a show around to please fans. And yet they wonder why they have to cancel and scarp so many terrible shows after they cancel the good ones? If Community sticks around like we're all hoping, maybe we'll get some more crossover action too. »

This isn't just time to open a bottle of wine. It's time to break out Big Carl and call all your neighbors over for an impromptu party.
"Cougar Town" has been picked up by TBS, where the comedy's fourth season will air in early 2013. According to TV reporter Josef Adalian, the next season of the show, which stars Courteney Cox as the ringleader of a group of wine-loving friends and neighbors, will consist of 15 episodes.
The network has also picked up the rerun rights to the 61 episodes in the show's first three seasons. In other words, much wine will be drunk on TBS starting early next year. ABC's loss of the lovable Crew (which also includes Busy Philipps, Ian Gomez, Dan Byrd, Brian Van Holt and Christa Miller) is TBS' gain.

The cul-de-sac crew is moving to a new home: "Cougar Town" is heading to TBS for its fourth season.
The cable channel announced Thursday (May 10) that it will pick up the show from ABC for a fourth season. TBS has ordered 15 episodes for Season 4, which is expected to air early next year, and also grabbed rerun rights to the first three seasons.
"'Cougar Town' is a smart, whimsical sitcom that draws its humor from likable, relatable characters," TBS/TNT/TCM president and head of programming Michael Wright says. "We are thrilled to have 'Cougar Town' moving to the TBS neighborhood as the network continues to expand its slate of original comedy series."
"Cougar Town" has struggled some on ABC this season, averaging about 5.2 million viewers and a 2.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. Reports of a move to cable first surfaced late last week, and a »
