Wigs worthy of Joan Collins, a perceptive dog, and a comeback for Madeleine Stowe … We're hooked already. Here are 10 reasons to watch Revenge, which starts on E4 on Monday May 28 at 9pm
See a gallery of the characters here
It's a classic whodunnit
Revenge begins on a beach in the Hamptons, playground of New York's ultra-rich. Pop pop! A man is shot as a party sparkles in a mansion behind him. It's instantly gripping: "Who is he? Who shot him? And why?" Then it's distracting: "Just look at their fantastic skin, and those outfits, and their abdominals, and the interior decor, and the actual Van Gogh perched on an easel in what we're guessing they call the Champagne Brunch Room … "
It's a tale of hidden identity
Our heroine is Amanda Clarke (Emily VanCamp). When she was a girl, her daddy got framed by his powerful Hamptons mates and was killed in prison. »

No, we're not talking about a remake of the jazzy little Seventies flick that saw Joan Collins battling giant ants. What we have here, kids, is another book adaptation that's coming at us faster than an ant can pounce a sugar cube. Read on for details.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Korean production/distribution giant Mirovision will adapt Empire of the Ants, the best-selling sci-fi novel by French author Bernard Werber, for the big screen. Mirovision, headed by Jason Chae, is showing the first promo trailers for the $25 million, 3D animated feature, to buyers in Cannes.
Korean director Kim Moon-saeng, who shot animated fantasy film Wonderful Days (2003), is on board to helm the English-language production and will produce with his Anima House shingle and production partner Kay Hwang. Young Gi Lee of Korea's Wonderworld Studios will also produce.

Dynasty legend Joan Collins has urged British officials to employ more border staff after she was one of thousands of passengers held up in airport chaos on Tuesday.
The actress was appalled to find lengthy queues of travellers waiting at passport control after she arrived at London's Heathrow Airport, and took to her Twitter.com page to voice her frustration.
She tweeted, "Arrived (at) Lhr after great trip on British Airways but 1000s waiting at passport control."
Collins then implored Home Secretary Theresa May to hire more immigration officials, adding, "Listen up Ms May - need more officers."
Keith Vaz, chairman of the Commons Home Affairs Select Committee, who was also at the airport, explains, "I felt pretty ashamed as a British MP. It was absolutely packed. There were people with babies running to beat the queues."
British politicians are facing increased pressure to minimise travel delays this summer before an influx of tourists arrives in the capital for the Olympic Games. »

Steve Carell's "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" has got nothing on 70-year-old virgin Pam Shaw, a British cabaret singer who says she's ready to give up her V card.
Shaw tells The Sun that she doesn't believe in sex before marriage, and since this busy lady has never married, she's just remained celibate.
"Now's the time. I'm ready to take the plunge for the right bloke," says Shaw, who sings under the stage name The Sexational Pam. "My standards are still very high, though. I'm hoping to bag a tall, dark and handsome millionaire. ... You are never too old for anything. Just look at Joan Collins."
What celeb do you think would be a good match for Shaw? Might we suggest Larry King? »

The director and columnist on David Cameron, being a grump, bad restaurants and refusing an OBE
You dated your wife, Geraldine, on and off for 55 years before finally tying the knot last September. Has being married made a difference?
It's much the same as it was before. I say: "Darling, you're absolutely right" a lot more than I used to.
Do you argue?
The atomic bomb at Hiroshima has nothing on Geraldine. You can't row with her, you just sit back and pray you're not going to be killed. I don't mind a row. I've had screaming rows with people and we've all made up and we're friends.
Do you regret never having children?
I'm not good with children. When they're young, they make a noise. You go to someone's house for dinner and suddenly they bring on these children and say: "Aren't they wonderful?" Well, no, they're not.

'The message is simple: unless you're stuffing your face with a Snickers, you'll suffer a sugar crash and become a diva'
No man of social standing can ask for a Snickers. It sounds like you're demanding a pair of knickers just as your mouth is hijacked by a wet sneeze. The association with female undergarments ("Snickers, mate, and a Rowntree's Bra for my rock-hard brother") has meant that, for many now-grizzled males, the last time they tasted the satisfaction of nougat, caramel and peanuts in thick chocolate was while rolling their shoulders to Groovy Train by the Farm in 1990, that terrible year for UK confectionery when Mars Inc decided the British Isles should rebrand its much-loved snack from Marathon to the internationally accepted Snickers. In protest, we allied with hauliers and turned to Yorkies in our droves.

The Apprentice | Elizabeth Taylor: Auction Of A Lifetime | Beautiful Minds | Decked Out | Sons Of Anarchy | 2012 Olympic Games – 100 Days To Go

It is hard to decide what is more worrying about The Apprentice: the dodgy calibre of the characters upon whose shoulders our entrepreneurial future apparently rests, or the sheer sadism of those willing to watch them make such excruciating spectacles of themselves. This week, watch between your fingers as the teams pitch dance and weight-based gym programmes to health and fitness chains, with disaster surely in the offing. David Stubbs

London, April 14: Elizabeth Taylor had a great love of jewels, especially diamonds, her friends have revealed in a new documentary.
Screen divas Joan Collins and Liza Minnelli - each famed for their own diamond-encrusted lives - are among the contributors to the new documentary about Taylor, who died last year.
Collins talks of the moment a real royal - Princess Margaret - dared to tell Liz Taylor she thought her diamond ring was vulgar. Taylor convinced her to try it on, then said, with satisfaction, 'Not so vulgar now, is it?'

Recently the masterminds behind the Dallas reboot gave a nod to their source material by releasing a promotional image of the cast in Bobby Ewing-approved shower attire. A longtime fan of time capsule beefcake (and occasional chronicler of same in the Ae Movie Club), I thought it might be the perfect opportunity to revisit Bobby and his scantily-clad contemporaries in a look back at the prime men of the primetime of days past.
Note that this is just the tip of the iceberg - we'd love to hear about your faves (included here or not) in the comments!
Patrick Duffy in Man from Atlantis and Dallas
Long before he was the appendage of a South Park creature and even prior to that abysmal sitcom he did with Suzanne Somers, Duffy was the glistening star of the late-'70s show Man from Atlantis. Allow me to share some highlights:

The comic and writer in the living room of his ancient Ashford house, which was once the home of Noël Coward
After the wonderful welcome from Julian Clary's dog Valerie, the first thing you notice about his living room is the chickens. There are lots – pictures on the walls, ornaments, even a chicken cushion. "Yes, there's a slight obsession with chickens," he says, looking around. "It must have happened when I became a rustic person." His favourite is the chicken on the mantelpiece, from his mother Brenda. It's near the sherry decanter, which is from director Neil Bartlett (they worked together on the 1995 adaptation of the play Splendid's).
There are a lot of things Julian's bought with his mother. He wonders if the antique bucket in the corner, which he picked up when they were "talked into" doing a celebrity version of Bargain Hunt, is too rustic. "It certainly »

Joan Collins thinks P. Diddy is 'super smooth'. The 78-year-old actress met a string of famous faces while attending post-Oscars parties last month and was particularly impressed by the hip-hop mogul, actress Sofia Vergara and designer Victoria Beckham. Joan - who attended the bashes with husband Percy Gibson and sister Jackie Collins - told Britain's Grazia magazine: 'In the ladies loo I spoke to Sofia Vergara, who is a true beauty with a woman's body, not a stick insect like so many of the starlets. 'I also spoke to P. Diddy, who was super smooth and very complimentary to me. 'Percy brought Ben Stiller to say hello and he was taller than I expected. Then I spoke to the Beckhams. »
