President and Mrs. Obama In Talks To Produce Series For Netflix — Report

  • Indiewire
ObamaFlix? According to a New York Times report, former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, are in talks with Netflix to produce programming for the streaming service.

Nothing is official, and Netflix couldn’t be reached for comment on the news. But the New York Times pointed out that the Obamas don’t plan to use the shows to comment on the Trump Administration or politics, but rather, to explore important subjects near to their heart.

“In one possible show idea, Mr. Obama could moderate conversations on topics that dominated his presidency — health care, voting rights, immigration, foreign policy, climate change — and that have continued to divide a polarized American electorate during President Trump’s time in office,” the newspaper wrote. “Another program could feature Mrs. Obama on topics, like nutrition, that she championed in the White House. The former president and first lady could also lend their brand

Did Andy Griffith Pave the Way for Donald Trump? (Guest Blog)
It seems that these days we watch the duplicitous face of Richard Nixon — refusing to resign, denying all charges — as often as when he was in Watergate hell. We also are once again seeing footage of Bill Clinton giving his “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” testimony. Those are the real historical figures that political journalists are comparing to our current leader, Donald Trump, as he faces special counsel Robert Mueller — and Stormy Daniels. As for the reel ones, history also offers films that reflected Trumpish behavior. “Network” often is the handiest comparison, with...

Martin Sheen Endorses Sterling K Brown For ‘West Wing’ Reboot President

Well then, Martin Sheen tells TheWrap he would definitely endorse that candidate. Last fall, “The West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin told The Hollywood Reporter his idea for a possible reboot of the series — for which he says he has a “standing offer” from NBC — saw the “This Is Us” star in the Oval Office and “some kind of jam” brings Sheen’s Bartlet in to advise Brown’s Potus “in the way that Bill Clinton...

And as the Republicans in Congress and the White House work to strip away the Affordable Care Act, Jones is “more concerned than you can imagine” about what that means for Americans who are also in need of preventive care.

“Preventive health care is what saved my life,” the former talk show host and national ambassador to the American Heart Association (Aha) tells People. “So I’m not speaking in theory. I’m speaking in fact.

Hollywood Struggles With Bill Clinton’s Past as 2018 Midterm Elections Loom

Gearing up for the 2018 midterm elections, Democrats are finding themselves in a conundrum: what to do with former President Bill Clinton? Clinton, a prolific fundraiser, has a history of harassment accusations, a history that has become a liability for Democrats looking to embrace the #MeToo movement as a direct rebuke of President Donald Trump, himself accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. “The toxicity level of Bill Clinton is rising,” Jack Pitney, professor of government at California’s Claremont McKenna College, told TheWrap. “As the #MeToo movement continues to gain steam, people are reflecting on what Bill Clinton did in the ’90s.” Also...

Trump Falsely Touts State of the Union Ratings as a Record

Trump Falsely Touts State of the Union Ratings as a Record
Updated: Washington — President Donald Trump again keyed in on crowd size, this time claiming that the 45.6 million who watched the State of the Union address was the “highest number in history.”

It’s not.

President Barack Obama’s first State of the Union in 2010 drew 48 million viewers, and Bill Clinton and George W. Bush also garnered larger audiences for their first Sotu addresses. The audience for Trump’s State of the Union also didn’t match his first speech before a joint session of Congress, which was 47.7 million.

“Thank you for all of the nice compliments and reviews on the State of the Union speech. 45.6 million people watched, the highest number in history. @FoxNews beat every other Network, for the first time ever, with 11.7 million people tuning in. Delivered from the heart!” Trump wrote.

Donald Trump’s First Sotu Address Audience Dwarfs Barack Obama’s Final One

  • The Wrap
Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address drew an estimated 45.6 million total viewers across 12 channels, per Nielsen. That’s up quite a bit from Barack Obama’s final Sotu (31.3 million viewers), but nowhere near the Trump predecessor’s first one (52.4 million) back in 2009. Obama’s second turn, with 48 million viewers, also out-performed last night’s total-viewer tally. The recorded-history record still belongs to Bill Clinton, who addressed 66.9 million people back in 1993. Ratings: Trump's First State of the Union Draws 46 Mil, Trails Predecessors

Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address on Tuesday night drew a decidedly smaller crowd than his year-ago address to a joint session of Congress.

Across ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC, Trump’s Sotu amassed 19.8 million total viewers, down 16 percent from the preliminary, broadcast-only numbers (23.6 mil) for last year’s address. (Predecessor President Barack Obama’s numbers similarly dipped from his first address to a joint session of Congress vs. his first official Sotu; George W. Bush’s, coming four months after 9/11, did not.)

Stormy Daniels Appears on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ After State of the Union Address

President Donald Trump’s reported paramour and adult film star Stormy Daniels appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Monday night just hours after Trump finished his first State of the Union speech.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, kicked off the segment by watching the State of the Union address with Kimmel.

“Okay, enough of this,” Kimmel said, pulling out a puppet version of Trump. “Stormy, show me on the puppet what he did to you.” To which Clifford pulled out a puppet in her shape with tape over its eyes and looked knowingly at the camera.

“Hmm, kinky,” Kimmel said.

In his opening monologue, Kimmel referred to a 2011 InTouch interview in which Clifford had stated “that she could definitely describe Donald Trump’s junk perfectly – if she ever had to. And at long last, that moment has arrived. She has to.”

Clifford was first reported as having had an affair with the president in a January
