Continuing his career resurgence, Andrew Dice Clay has signed with Gersh for U.S. representation, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. The stand-up comic earned critical admiration last year for his turn as Cate Blanchett’s blue-collar brother-in-law in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine. He’ll continue to work with high-profile talent as a cast member in HBO’s untitled rock ‘n’ roll drama pilot, from producers Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and The Wolf of Wall Street’s Terence Winter and starring Bobby Cannavale. Clay will play “obnoxious, cocaine-addled” radio station executive Frank “Buck” Rogers in the 1970s New

Blue Jasmine

Cate Blanchett is in Oscar-winning form in this sensational comedy drama that sees Woody Allen back at the top of his game. As Jasmine, a pampered Manhattan socialite brought to Earth with a stony broke bump, Blanchett commands the screen with a turn of incredible complexity. Alec Baldwin, Sally Hawkins and even controversial comedian Andrew Dice Clay also impress in this ambitious examination of the haves and have-nots, corporate greed and the lies we tell ourselves. »

James Jagger, Andrew Dice Clay Join Cast of HBO’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Drama Pilot

James Jagger, Andrew Dice Clay and P.J. Byrne are among the latest additions to the large cast of the pilot for HBO’s rock ‘n’ roll drama project from Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter and George Mastras.

Mick Jagger is among the exec producers of the untitled project set in late-1970s New York in the height of the disco era and stirrings of punk rock. Production on the pilot is under way in Gotham.

James Jagger, the oldest of Mick’s three sons, is set to play the lead singer of punk band Nasty Bits — a role that should come naturally not only because of his parentage but also from his time as the frontman of rock band Turbogeist. James Jagger has logged time on the U.K. stage among other acting gigs.

Clay plays the cocaine-fueled owner of a chain of radio stations. Byrne will play the head of »

Woody Allen Wednesdays – To Rome with Love and Blue Jasmine

11 June 2014 9:17 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Every Wednesday, FM writers Simon Columb and Brogan Morris write two short reviews on Woody Allen films … in the hope of watching all his films over the course of roughly 49 weeks. If you have been watching Woody’s films and want to join in, feel free to comment with short reviews yourself! Next up is To Rome with Love and Blue Jasmine

Simon Columb on To Rome with Love

You could easily mistake this for a foreign film considering the amount of Italian spoken. Indeed, Woody Allen is a writer who has sharp wit and snappy dialogue sewn up in the English language, at least the Italian verbal acrobats don’t seem out of place. To Rome with Love is familiar Woody Allen, recycling his best narrative devices – a kind-of, but-not-really imaginary figure (The Purple Rose of Cairo); a glorious, picture-postcard location portraying flowing, Trevi fountains and Roman ruins (Manhattan, »

Photo: Nicolas Cage Wears Nicolas Cage Shirt to Guns N' Roses Show

10 June 2014 7:11 AM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

Guns N' Roses are still touring and recently did a show in Las Vegas. Soon after, the band posted a photo on their Instagram page, giving us a look at their two famous fans, Nicolas Cage and Andrew Dice Clay. What's interesting about the photo is Cage's t-shirt. While some fans would wear Guns N' Roses shirts to a show, the actor decided to go in a different direction and wear a shirt celebrating someone else he admires, himself. Cage's t-shirt features a shot of his own face with a crazy expression from "Vampire Kiss." It seems that the actor is having some fun with becoming an internet meme. And with time maybe he'll start wearing Nicolas Cage cats shirts as well. Photo: (click to enlarge) »

Nicolas Cage Wore a Nicolas Cage T-Shirt to a Guns N' Roses Concert

9 June 2014 9:05 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Nicolas Cage's offscreen persona has become the subject of multiple Internet memes and even a running joke on Saturday Night Live, but he may have outdone himself in the silliness department this time. The actor was spotted backstage at a Guns N' Roses concert while holding a cane and wearing a cowboy hat, leather chaps, a purple fringed coat, and what appeared to be a t-shirt with his own face on it. The snap also showed Nicolas chatting with Andrew Dice Clay, who was wearing one of his trademark outlandish outfits. Nic later joined the band on stage for their last bow, so his strange ensemble may have been just for show. Now all he needs to do is pull a Macaulay Culkin and take this Nic Cage-on-Nic Cage photo to the next level. Source: Instagram user gunsnroses »

Nicolas Cage Wears a Shirt with His Picture on It

9 June 2014 6:15 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

One of the most frequently asked Nicolas Cage questions (Fancq's) remains, is he in on the joke? Does he know about the memes? The videos? His strange second life as an Internet celebrity? This shirt is Exhibit A in the argument that, yes, Cage knows exactly what's going on. Guns N' Roses (at this point, Axl Rose and a rotating cast of stringers, including, coincidentally, a former member of The Replacements) posted this picture on Instagram after the group's June 7 show at the The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Nicolas Cage Wore a Nicolas Cage T-Shirt to a Guns N' Roses Show (Photo)

9 June 2014 5:30 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

It's always funny when you see that guy (or gal) at a show: the person who wears the band T-shirt to the band that they're seeing. It's a little redundant and goofy and unnecessarily super-fan-ish, especially since these are the people who are most likely to buy another T-shirt from that same band at the concert. But what are the rules when you're Nicolas Cage and you go to a concert wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with Nicolas Cage? Is that alright? Or what's the deal?

Guns N' Roses, who, yes, are still touring, posted a photo to their official Instagram account (via Vulture) of The One True God standing next to Andrew Dice Clay backstage at a show the band performed in Las Vegas. And the photo is more incredible than "Use Your Illusion 1" and "2" put together. First of all, Andrew Dice Clay is still sticking to his "Dice Man" look, »

‘The Blacklist’s’ James Spader Helps Lure Top Villain Guest Spots

7 May 2014 10:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The Blacklist” has been full of pleasant surprises for NBC this year. One of the most unexpected aspects of the Sony Pictures TV drama — the freshman success story of the season by any measure — is how much the series has been able to do with guest stars in the villain-of-the-week slot.

The show’s conceit demands a strong presence in each episode for a guest actor. James Spader’s Raymond “Red” Reddington is a master criminal now helping the FBI catch crooks — although to what end is part of a larger storyline that drives the show.

“Blacklist” blends the mystery that envelopes its main characters with a specific puzzle for Red and his youthful FBI liaison, Liz, played by Megan Boone, to solve each week. Red’s long career as “the concierge of crime” has seen him tangle with all manner of high-level bad guys and gals, some with exotic aliases such as the Stewmaker, »

Cate Blanchett on working with Woody Allen at Independent Spirit Awards

1 March 2014 7:50 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Santa Monica - Cate Blanchett, who picked up a best actress win for Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine" today at the Independent Spirit Awards, is just as enthralled by the drama of award season as the rest of us.  After being introduced to the press following her win, the Oscar winner asked the room if they wanted to wait to see who won best actor. As Matthew McConaughey took the stage, Blanchett watched his speech from on a monitor in the press tent, before turning her attention back to her "Blue Jasmine" victory.  The film was Blanchett's first time working with Allen, and she commented on his writing and directing style. "99% of the direction happens in the script," she said, explaining that he employs a sort of "benign neglect" with his cast. "He lets you go and see what you're going to throw against the material," she elaborated.  "I think »

Oscars Picks: Variety Critics on Who Should Win Best Supporting Actor/Actress

Best Supporting Actor

Justin Chang: Bonjour, Peter. I know you’re still settling into your new Parisian digs as we speak (I’m picturing you at your laptop in an “I Louvre Paris” T-shirt with a cafe au lait at the ready), so I appreciate your taking the time to discuss this year’s Oscar nominees for supporting actor and actress — specifically, the ones we’d love to see win, the ones we’d rather see lose, and the grievous omissions in each category.

To start with the latter: I was saddened, if not exactly shocked, that the Academy didn’t give James Gandolfini a supporting-actor nomination for his wonderful performance as a divorced dad navigating the perils of midlife romance in “Enough Said.” Some suggested early on that the actor’s death, just three months before Nicole Holofcener’s film made its world premiere at Toronto, would surely earn »

Blue Jasmine DVD Review

Director: Woody Allen

Starring: Cate Blanchett, Sally Hawkins, Alec Baldwin, Bobby Cannavale, Louis C.K., Andrew Dice Clay, Peter Sarsgaard

Certificate: 12

Extras: Cast Press Conference, Featurette: “Notes from the Red Carpet”

Woody Allen has been intrepidly working with a new release each year and when it was announced that Cate Blanchett would be teaming up, excitement ensued but no-one could surely know how truly excellent and Oscar-worthy her performance would be in Blue Jasmine.

There are immediate inklings to the kind of character Jasmine (Cate Blanchett) is from the first moment we meet her sat aboard an aeroplane, talking endlessly to an older lady next to her. You’d initially assume that she’s making small-talk but alas Jasmine is not, she’s divulging her existence regardless of self-awareness and her fellow passenger sums up her persona so very quickly by saying “She couldn’t stop babbling about her life…” as »
