Dean Cain still wants Lois & Clark season 5

Rob Leane Jun 23, 2017

"I think we still need a fifth season", says Dean Cain, on the topic of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman...

We're living in the age of the belated TV show comeback, with the likes of The X-Files, Twin Peaks, Gilmore Girls, Arrested Development and Full House getting revivals many years after their original runs.

One man is now lobbying to get his 1990s show revisited: Dean Cain, who's been chatting about Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman, and how he'd like to go back to that world.

"Well, you know what, we ended our show after four seasons in a weird way because we’re supposed to do a fifth season," Cain told 7 News Sydney.

Dean Cain Wants To Play Superman Again In A Lois & Clark Revival

22 June 2017 4:45 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Every generation has their favourite Superman and chances are those who grew up in the 1990s remember Dean Cain as their preferred Man of Steel. The actor played the big blue boy scout on Lois & Clark (also known as The New Adventures of Superman), opposite Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane. As the title suggests, the show was just as much about the love story between Supes and Lois as it was the superhero’s exploits. It ran for four seasons from 1993 to 1997 before being cruelly torn from the airwaves.

Now, twenty years later, Cain has been speaking about how much he’d love to feature in a Lois & Clark revival. Talking to 7 News Sydney, he explained that the show was only prematurely cancelled due to his co-star falling pregnant, which would have complicated Hatcher’s filming schedule.

“Well, you know what, we ended our show after four seasons in a weird way because we’re supposed to do a fifth season. Teri [Hatcher] got pregnant in between and couldn’t work on that fifth season so they decided to shut it down. I would have liked to done that fifth season, I think we still need a fifth season, we need something, at least part of a fifth season. So I’m hoping that we get a chance to maybe finish up the series.

“Maybe it’s six episodes, maybe it’s 10 episodes, maybe it’s a two-hour movie. But I think it would be really interesting to catch up with these two characters 20 years down the line and see what’s happened in their lives. If they have had children or what’s going on with their kids, I think it’s really interesting and I’m certainly willing to.”

Fans will remember that the series ended on a massive cliffhanger, as a baby wrapped in a blanket marked with the ‘S’ symbol was left on Lois and Clark’s doorstep. It would be nice to finally get an answer to this mystery, but it does seem like an outside chance that the show could return.

Probably the best thing that we can hope for is that the Arrowverse reveals that the Lois & Clark world is part of the multiverse as established on that show. The 1990s Flash TV series has already been revealed to be just that, so it isn’t ridiculous to think they could do the same for Lois & Clark. After all, Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher have both appeared in Supergirl. »

Dean Cain wants a Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman revival

22 June 2017 6:32 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Back in 1993, the only on screen version of Superman to be found was on Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. The show wasn’t heavy on action, and focused primarily on the relationship between Superman, Lois Lane, and of course Superman’s alter-ego Clark Kent. The show had a good run; it was a hit with a wide demographic, and its final season ran in 1997.

Since then, we haven’t heard much from Lois and Clark star Dean Cain. He was a host on Ripley’s Believe it or Not for a while, but his career definitely mellowed out a little after playing Superman for four seasons. Well, it looks like Dean Cain has resurfaced after several years, and after returning to the DC universe with a guest role in Supergirl, it seems he is now up for donning the cape on more time. Speaking to Australia’s 7 News Sydney, the actor revealed that he would love to play the Man of Steel again in a Lois & Clark reunion:

“Well, you know what, we ended our show after four seasons in a weird way because we’re supposed to do a fifth season. Teri [Hatcher] got pregnant in between and couldn’t work on that fifth season so they decided to shut it down. I would have liked to done that fifth season, I think we still need a fifth season, we need something, at least part of a fifth season. So I’m hoping that we get a chance to maybe finish up the series.”

What do you think? Would you like to see Dean Cain as Superman one more time? Or do we already have too many Super-men on screen at the moment? Let us know in the comments below!

A Lois & Clark Reunion! Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain Stage 'Soaring' Selfie 20 Years After Series Finale

20 June 2017 1:15 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

They reached the heights of fame together on their four-season run of 1993’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. And on Tuesday, Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain reunited over 20 years later for a high-flying selfie snapped from the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

“Soaring together again,” Hatcher, 52, wrote on both Twitter and Instagram. “So fun to reunite. Thanks to #bridgeclimbsydney.”

Hatcher was all smiles as her arms wrapped around her 50-year-old former costar, similar to what her character, Lois Lane, had so often done with Superman.

Superman and Metropolis Celebrate John Ostrander!

18 June 2017 5:00 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

So – where was I last weekend? I was in Metropolis, that’s where, down in the Southern tip of Illinois attending the 39th Annual Superman Celebration. Way back in 1972 the city got DC’s permission to call itself Superman’s home and later that year the Illinois legislature passed a resolution confirming it. By the late 70s, the city decided to capitalize on all this by staging an annual Superman Celebration on the second weekend in June, a festival for the Man of Steel. Damn good idea, I sez.

The Celebration includes media guests connected with Supes. This year it was Margot Kidder, Dean Cain, James Marsters, and Sarah Douglas… as well as a few of us comic book types. I was the featured writer about six years ago and it seems I didn’t burn too many bridges because they had me back again this year along with Jimmy Palmiotti, »

Dean Cain has made 3 more Christmas movies

7 June 2017 3:17 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Kirsten Howard Jun 7, 2017

Lois & Clarke actor Dean Cain has added another three new Christmas movies to his legacy, but only one of them has a dog in it (we think)...

In the last 16 years, Dean Cain - former Superman and current Superdad - has made 16 Christmas movies.

Important to note, here, that he hasn't made one a year. No. During 2014, for example, he made 4 in a row (Merry Ex-Mas, A Belle For Christmas, The Three Dogateers and Small Town Santa).

If you're new to Den Of Geek (or just weren't aware) we've watched nearly all of them, including the many made-for-tv ones where his co-star is a talking dog (and, in a lot of cases, multiple talking dogs).

Well, since we last updated our article, Mr Cain has made three more Christmas films - Beverly Hills Christmas, »

Film Review: ‘Illicit’

5 May 2017 12:00 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Illicit” begins, believe it or not, with a title card offering the dictionary definition of its title, which may or may not speak volumes about just how slow on the uptake filmmaker Corey Grant assumed his potential audience would be. The movie itself could be defined as the latest and least in a long line of “Fatal Attraction” knockoffs, if only it didn’t devolve into something much sillier during its final 20 minutes. Indeed, even during the first 99 minutes, the overstated melodrama frequently veers close to self-parody as the predominantly African-American cast is called upon to histrionically underline and italicize the introduction of every major plot point.

On the other hand, there is one thing that distinguishes “Illicit” from most other “Fatal Attraction” wannabes: This particular tale of ill-considered adultery offers equal opportunities for unfaithful spouses. Sasha Curtis (Shireen Crutchfield), a beautiful former model, is by turns neglected and dominated »
