Controversial comedy character Dapper Laughs wraps debut feature 'Fanged Up'

Exclusive: Screen can reveal a first-look image from the comedy-horror.

Daniel O’Reilly, aka controversial comedy character Dapper Laughs, has wrapped shooting on his debut feature film as an actor, the vampire comedy Fanged Up.

Directed by Christian James (Stalled), the film’s cast also features Steven Berkoff (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Lauren Socha (E4 series Misfits), Danielle Harold (Eastenders), former WWE wrestler Stu Bennett, and Joe Egan (Sherlock Holmes).

The film was shot entirely on location in Portsmouth. It follows a young rogue (O’Reilly) who is thrown into prison for the weekened, unaware that the guards are blood-sucking vampires and the inmates are their victims.

Fanged Up was produced by Terry Stone (Anuvahood) and Richard Turner (Nativity!), with Chris Howard (The Messenger) as executive producer. It was financed by film financer Investor Profit Portfolio and The Wealth Advisory.

Steven Berkoff begins shooting 'Shakespeare’s Heroes & Villains', 'Tell Tale Heart'

Red Rock Entertainment and Ck Films producing theatrical adaptations.

Actor and playwright Steven Berkoff, known for film roles ranging from A Clockwork Orange to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, has begun shooting adaptations of two of his most successful theatre productions - Shakespeare’s Villains and Tell Tale Heart.

UK independent film financier Red Rock Entertainment announced the start of shoot principal photography on the double bill, which are produced and directed by Stephen Cookson (Stanley, A Man Of Variety) and his London-based company Ck Films.

The two features will shoot back to back over a six-week period with filming taking place from today in London.

Peter Keegan (Stanley, A Man Of Variety) is co-producing the films with Ismael Issa as director of photography (We Still Kill The Old Way) and Terry Bamber (World War Z; The Man From U.N.C.L.E.) as first Ad.

"You're a liar, you're an imposter, you're a deserter." BFI has unveiled a new trailer for the re-release of Stanley Kubrick's underrated period piece Barry Lyndon, following the story of Redmond Barry in 18th century England. The film is getting a re-release in the UK for its 41st anniversary this year, so anyone who wants to see all 184 minutes of this on the big screen can catch it in the theaters (at least in England). The cast includes Ryan O'Neal as Barry, as well as Marisa Berenson, Patrick Magee, Hardy Krüger, Steven Berkoff, Gay Hamilton, Frank Middlemass and others. This is one of Kubrick's films that is not always mentioned, but there are many fans of it, and many others who probably haven't even seen it yet. Signature teams with Red Rock, Procam on trainee scheme

Initiative gives young unemployed people the opportunity to gain experience in the film industry.

UK production company Signature Pictures has partnered with film financier Red Rock Entertainment and digital cinematography and broadcast hire facility Procam to launch Signature Shorts 2016.

The programme will see at least 30 young unemployed people recruited through Jobcentre Plus’ client base in the north and south of the UK. With their help, three short films will be developed and produced.

Continuing its partnership with the UK’s Jobcentre Plus, the scheme aims to expand the opportunities open to young people who wish to gain training and work experience in all aspects of film production.

Each of the three short films, which will be filmed in different locations around the UK, will feature new directing and writing talent.

As well as providing opportunities for new entrants into the industry, the slate has been designed and developed to provide emerging British talent, including producers »

Steven Berkoff to reprise theatre roles on film

The actor will star in feature film versions of his shows Shakespeare’s Villains and Tell Tale Heart.

Actor and playwright Steven Berkoff, best known for villainous screen roles in Octopussy and A Clockwork Orange, is set to reprise two of his most successful theatre productions on film.

Shakespeare’s Heroes & Villains and Tell Tale Heart, both written by Berkoff, will be co-produced by Red Rock Entertainment (That Good Night) and Ck Films with Stephen Cookson (My Angel) directing. Both are currently in development.

Shakespeare’s Heroes & Villains will be adapted from the Berkoff-penned stage production Shakespeare’s Villains. The one-man play, which had its first run at London’s Theatre Royal in 1998, explores and analyses some of the Bard’s most villainous characters, including Macbeth, Iago, Richard III and Coriolanus.

Prince leaves memorable movie legacy

Iconic American musician Prince, whose death was announced yesterday, made memorable contributions to cinema through his music and performances.

Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson), who rose to fame in the 1980’s with records such as ‘1999’, ‘Sign o’ the Times’ and ‘Parade’ and went on to sell more than 100 million albums, died aged 57 at his home in Minnesota. 

The pioneering musician provided soundtracks to a number of productions including the 1989 Tim Burton directed Batman and Spike Lee’s Girl 6 – which played in Un Certain Regard at Cannes in 1996.

His songs were used in dozens of films during his nearly 40-year career, including Baz Lurhmann’s Romeo and Juliet and Paul Brickman’s Risky Business.

In 1985, he won an Oscar for his score of Purple Rain. ‘When Doves Cry’ from the same film was also nominated for the Golden Globe for best original song, an accolade that Prince picked up twenty years later for ‘The Song of the Heart »

Lionsgate has unveiled a trailer for a crime thriller called Manhattan Night, a sort of contemporary noir starring Adrien Brody as the pulp writer stuck in the middle of a crazy mysterious story of sex and lies and deceit. The cast includes Jennifer Beals and Yvonne Strahovski, plus Campbell Scott, Linda Lavin, Steven Berkoff and Kevin Breznahan. The trailer sets up the plot better than any text explanation can - this nice family man meets a "seductive stranger" and gets wrapped up in his own twisted story.
