She first approached writer Virginia Duigan and her husband, director Bruce Beresford, about using film to draw attention to his story, and subsequently found her way to de Crespigny.

Should There Be a Gossip Girl Movie?

22 May 2012 6:39 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

The upcoming sixth season of Gossip Girl, set to premiere in October, will be its last.

Sad as this fact is, as the show's stars gear up to say sayonara to the Upper East Side on the CW, could some of them be persuaded to reunite for a Gossip Girl movie down the line, a la Sex and the City?

"It's funny because I just got that question recently," Chace Crawford told E! News.

"It had never even crossed my mind so it was like, that's weird ... I don't know if I want that, or do not want that. I don't know what the logistics would be on that. I would imagine it's a long shot. Who knows?"

If it's up to him, Gossip Girl Season 6 will end with a bang. In a manner of speaking.

"Like the end of Die Hard," he joked. "Just walking away from an exploding helicopter. »

Watch: Elizabeth Olsen & Jane Fonda Offer 'Peace, Love & Misunderstanding' In New Trailer

27 April 2012 5:43 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Don't call it a comeback, but it looks like Jane Fonda is ready to get back to work. The actress/fitness guru/activist hasn't been entirely idle on the big screen in the past ten years, but she hasn't been Jessica Chastain either. Back in 2005, Fonda co-starred in the Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy "Monster-in-Law," Fonda's first acting role in 15 years. Despite being hated by critics, the film was a box office success, and seemed to herald Fonda's return to acting. However, after 2007's "Georgia Rule," Fonda disappeared again only to reappear years later with three projects: the comedy-drama "Peace, Love & Misunderstanding," a recurring role on Aaron Sorkin's HBO series "The Newsroom," and, last month, Fonda was cast as Nancy Reagan in Lee Daniels' "The Butler." The excellent trailer for "The Newsroom" arrived earlier this month, and now the first trailer for "Peace, Love & Misunderstanding" has been revealed by Yahoo! »

Elizabeth Olsen Has ‘Peace, Love & Misunderstanding’ In New Trailer

27 April 2012 1:20 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

A new trailer has appeared online for the upcoming comedy Peace, Love And Misunderstanding.

Although she’s the younger sister to the infamously fashionable Olsen twins, Elizabeth Olsen seems to be making a name for herself away from her siblings. Already making waves with her roles in Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011) and Silent House (2011), she now stars in a much lighter role – as adult daughter Zoe, whose mother (Catherine Keener) drags away her and her younger brother Jake (Nat Wolff) to visit their hippie grandmother, played by Jane Fonda. What was originally going to be a short vacation turns into something longer, as each family member starts to unwind and discover themselves, while Fonda runs wild with her meditation-taking, marijuana-smoking friends.

Directed by Bruce Beresford (who directed Driving Miss Daisy in 1989, which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1990) the film premiered at the Toronto International »

‘Peace, Love & Misunderstanding’ Trailer Puts Three Generations of Acting Talent on Display

26 April 2012 6:00 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

At first glance, Peace, Love & Understanding looks like your typical indie film. The focus is on characters – relationships between parents and their children, budding romances – and the humor mostly comes from a political place, throwing uptight suit-and-tie types in a confined space with characters who are on the extreme left and watching them all chafe against each other. Chances are you could watch its first trailer and feel like it was an advertisement for a film that you’ve seen a hundred times before. That is, if it didn’t have such an appealing cast. They kind of set the project apart. Well-worn material or not, it’s pretty hard to catch wind of a movie that’s cast Jane Fonda, Catherine Keener, and Elizabeth Olsen as three generations of very different women and not get a little bit excited. With Fonda and especially Keener, you have a couple of acting veterans who always bring the goods »

Watch: Elizabeth Olsen in the 'Peace, Love & Misunderstanding' Trailer

If you haven't heard of Elizabeth Olsen by now, who is seemingly much more suited for feature films than her twin siblings Mary-Kate and Ashley, then you're missing out on some fantastic performances. She made a splash at Sundance in 2011 with Silent House and Martha Marcy May Marlene and shined again at the festival this year with Liberal Arts and Red Lights. Now she's back in Peace, Love and Misunderstanding, a film about an uptight NYC lawyer (Catherine Keener) who takes her two teenagers to her hippie mother's (Jane Fonda) farmhouse upstate for a family vacation. Watch below! Here's the first trailer for Bruce Beresford's Peace, Love & Misunderstanding from Yahoo! Trailer For ‘Peace, Love & Misunderstanding’ With Elizabeth Olsen, Catherine Keener, Jeffrey Dean Morgan & Jane Fonda

26 April 2012 3:12 PM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Despite the great ensemble, one of the blandest, most by-the-numbers movies I’ve seen in the past year is Bruce Beresford‘s Peace, Love & Misunderstanding. Premiering at Tiff, the film features indie starlet Elizabeth Olsen, who does her best in a limited role, alongside Jane FondaJeffrey Dean Morgan, Elizabeth Olsen, Chace Crawford, Catherine Keener, Rosanna Arquette, and Kyle MacLachlan. It’s a completely harmless film, but one can predict every single story beat from a mile away and a cringe-worth conclusion brings all the pieces together in a perfect knot. One may ask why I’m even giving it attention, but the involvement of last year’s best actress is enough to warrant the mention. Check out the trailer below via Yahoo.

Synopsis:

An uptight NYC lawyer takes her two teenagers to her hippie mother’s farmhouse upstate for a family vacation.

Peace, Love & Misunderstanding arrives on June 8th. »

Acclaimed playwright Stephen Sewell hopes to make his directorial debut with an adaptation of his 2011 novel Babylon.

Production company Jaggi.Shute is currently in the process of financing the $3.5 million film.

Producer Liz Shute told If that she hopes the film will be funded through private equity, state agencies and an La-based sales agent: "We're not going down the usual Screen Australia route."

Babylon tells the story of an English backpacker who gets more than he bargained for when he hitches a ride with an enigmatic man named Dan. Jaggi.Shute first purchased the rights to the novel after Sewell came on board as consultant on another film.

Bruce Beresford (Mao's Last Dancer) and Janine Pearce (The Reef) will act as executive producers, with Beresford hoping to mentor Sewell through the directing process. Casting will be completed by Maura Fay Casting.

Jane Fonda As Nancy Reagan?

26 March 2012 4:17 PM, PDT | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

Somewhat ironically, Jane Fonda, well known for her liberal politics, may end up playing Nancy Reagan, known for her marriage to a right-wing president, in Lee Daniels' White House-set film project The Butler. According to Variety's Jeff Sneider, the Oscar-nominated Precious director has asked Fonda to join his all-star ensemble. Oscar winner Forest Whitaker will likely play butler Eugene Allen, who served an array of U.S. presidents, from Harry Truman in 1952 to Ronald Reagan in 1986. Co-written by Daniels and Danny Strong, The Butler is based on Wil Haygood's report for the Washington Post. Among The Butler's other stellar possibilities are The Color Purple / Beloved's Oprah Winfrey as the butler's wife (Winfrey was one of Precious' credited executive producers), Rise of the Planet of the Apes / The Help's David Oyelowo as Allen's son, Schindler's List / Kinsey's Liam Neeson as Lyndon B. Johnson, and 2012 / The Grifters »
