Jeanine Serralles Heads Inside Llewyn Davis

19 December 2011 | Comingsoon.net | See recent Comingsoon.net news »

Another cast member has signed on for Inside Llewyn Davis , Variety reports. Jeanine Serralles will appear opposite Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake and John Goodman in the next film from Joel and Ethan Coen. The project is based on the life of musician Dave van Ronk, part of the folk music scene that hit Greenwich Village in the 1960's. The script is said to be based in part on van Ronk's memoir, "The Mayor of MacDougal Street." At a talk they did earlier this year at the Lincoln Center's new Elinor Munroe Film Center, the brothers told moderator Noah Baumbach that they were working on a musical-based film, which they compared to Baumbach's own film, Margot at the Wedding , and its dialogue and "music [that's] pretty much all performed live, »

TV And The Novel: Not-So-Strange Bedfellows

Michael Chabon's "The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" could be coming to a screen near you.

According to Collider, director Stephen Daldry wants to turn the novel into a miniseries for HBO.

"I would love to do something for TV," he said. "I wanna do Kavalier & Clay on HBO as an eight-parter. It'll be so much better as a series, honestly."

There's just one catch -- Daldry doesn't have the rights to the book. Paramount does -- though Daldry himself was signed on at one point to direct a film version, the project has continued to languish.

"I spent a year working on it with Michael Chabon, so we're pretty close," Daldry told Collider. "And the rights, good question. Will Paramount give them to me? I don't know. It'll be a really good one. It'd go great with 'Boardwalk Empire.'"

HBO is already working with Chabon and »

Teaser Trailer for Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

10 December 2011 9:02 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Six years ago, Alex the Lion (voiced by Ben Stiller), Marty the Zebra (Chris Rock), Gloria the Hippopotamus (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer) were safely on their way from the Central Park Zoo to a wildlife preserve in Kenya when a botched penguin hijacking found them washed up on the shores of an island off the coast of Africa in Madagascar.

In the sequel, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, the gang decided that it was time that they return to New York City, but their plane crash-landed in the heart of Africa and, of course, trouble ensued. Now, everyone's favorite animal entourage returns in their first 3D adventure, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, in which they once again try to return to their home at the Central Park Zoo only to end up getting stranded in Europe, hooked up with a traveling circus and pursued by »

Noah Baumbach’s ‘Madagascar 3’ Trailer

8 December 2011 5:21 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Alright, so he may not have directed the film but Noah Baumbach has sole screenwriting credit on the third film in the Madagascar saga. The Greenberg director has helped out on studio films like Tower Heist, but he must have had a good experience on Fantastic Mr. Fox, because he is back for animation seconds here.

The crew went back to Africa last time and now they head to Europe in this incarnation. I actually found the first films to have a fun, off-kilter vibe and Baumbach may be the one to push it a little further here. Directed by Eric Darnell (who gave us the others & Antz), one can see the trailer below via Yahoo for the film featuring voicework by Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted arrives on June 8th, 2012.

Watch: First Wacky Trailer for 'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted'

8 December 2011 10:54 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Our last adventure with Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe didn't see our zoo animal heroes return home to NYC, and now the crew seems to be getting into trouble on another continent in the teaser trailer for Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted which brings back Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith as the aforementioned wild animals. But this time Frances McDormand joins the action as a French law enforcement official in hot pursuit of our heroes and, of course, those wacky penguins and Sacha Baron Cohen as the lemur King Julien. Watch it! Here's the teaser trailer for Dwa's Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (via Yahoo! First Trailer for Madagascar 3: Europe’S Most Wanted

8 December 2011 10:31 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The first trailer for the third entry in the Madagascar franchise has been unveiled. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted finds the zoo-friendly characters on the lam in Europe, where they join a traveling circus. It looks as though they might be going the spy thriller route (uh-oh), with Ben Stiller's character doing his best Tom Cruise impression. There are a few cute scenes here, especially with the penguins and Sacha Baron Cohen's character, and kids are sure to eat this movie up, but there's really not much to convince your average adult moviegoer that this isn't a straight-to-dvd cartoon sequel. Noah Baumbach (Fantastic Mr. Fox) penned the screenplay, so hopefully the full film offers something for a more mature audience to enjoy as well. Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also features the voices of Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, »

'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted' Teaser Trailer Surfaces

8 December 2011 9:44 AM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

When it comes to recent animated film franchises, I find the Madagascar films about as uninteresting as I do the Shrek films. Sure, the penguins are funny, the monkeys are good for a few laughs, but the overall stories are terrible. I truly disliked the first Madagascar film and admittedly found the sequel to be a vast improvement, but I have little desire to return to the franchise for Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, which hits theaters on June 8, 2012 and today we have our first look at the teaser trailer. Written by Noah Baumbach (Fantastic Mr. Fox) and once again featuring the voice work of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric The Entertainer and Andy Richter, Madagascar 3 follows Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo and Melman the Giraffe as they continue their struggle to get home to their »

Ewan McGregor Set For Noah Baumbach’s HBO Series The Corrections

28 November 2011 12:00 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

One of the handful of British talents well known and loved on beyond our shores, and in my opinion one of the finest actors working at the moment, Ewan McGregor is now set to join Oscar-nominated writer-director Noah Baumbach’s adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s acclaimed novel, The Corrections, Deadline report.

The adaptation has been set up at HBO, with the first episode already scripted by both Franzen and Baumbach, and the latter is set to direct the pilot, which is brilliant news. McGregor is joining Chris Cooper (American Beauty, The Town) and Dianne Wiest (Edward Scissorhands) in what is shaping up to be a fantastic cast.

Published back in 2001, Franzen’s original novel,

“revolves around the troubles of a Midwestern couple (Cooper and Wiest), and their three adult children as they trace their lives from the mid-20th century to “one last Christmas” together near the turn of the millennium. »

Ewan McGregor Finds The Corrections He'll Join The HBO Drama

23 November 2011 4:52 PM, PST | icelebz.com | See recent iCelebz news »

Back in September, we reported on Anthony Hopkins getting approached to star as an ailing patriarch in Noah Baumbach's adaptation of The Corrections for Us cable network HBO. But while Hopkins has passed on the project, it has still scored some prime British acting talent, with Ewan McGregor signing on to play a key role in the drama.

Though the project - which Baumbach is scripting with novelist Jonathan Franzen - is still only at the pilot stage, it has already attracted Chris Cooper (to play the father figure Hopkins was approached for) and Diane Wiest as his wife.

The Corrections finds the parents gathering together their dysfunctional family (including middle child Chip, played by McGregor) for a final Christmas as the head of the household reveals that his brain is beginning to fail him. You might think that would lead to a short series, but since the book »

Ewan McGregor Joins HBO's The Corrections Pilot

Ewan McGregor has signed on to HBO's adaptation of Jonathan Franzen's best-seller The Corrections, joining Chris Cooper and Dianne Wiest in the highly anticipated project.

The novel follows the Lamberts; an elderly Midwestern couple (Cooper and Wiest) and their three children as they spend one final Christmas together and look back on their lives. McGregor is playing the middle child Chip in this family set up and the other two siblings are yet to be confirmed. This isn't a simple case of happy families as secrets and failures are inevitably revealed.

Greenberg director Noah Baumbach is co-writing the project with author Jonathan Franzen and Baumbach will also be directing the pilot. Scott Rudin, who optioned the film rights to the book back when it was published in 2001, will be producing the drama.

Ewan McGregor Set to Co-Star in Noah Baumbach’s HBO Take on ‘The Corrections’

22 November 2011 2:22 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Super-producer Scott Rudin has been trying to get Jonathan Franzen’s much-lauded novel, “The Corrections,” to the screen for nearly a decade, and it’s finally starting to come together, though possibly in a different format than fans of the book may have first expected. Rudin has been working with Noah Baumbach on adapting the novel for the small screen, in the form of an HBO series. Though the exact specifications of the series’ format is not yet known (episode length, frequency, if the series will run in a limited capacity for a set number of episodes, who else would direct episodes), the cast is steadily rounding out. The book focuses on the Lambert family, and Chris Cooper and Dianne Wiest were previously announced to play the parents at the center, Alfred and Enid Lambert. But what of their wayward children? Deadline Wickenburg is reporting that Ewan McGregor is on board to play middle child Chip, “a »

Ewan McGregor Joins Chris Cooper and Dianne Wiest in Noah Baumbach’s HBO Pilot ‘The Corrections’

[1] Hollywood's had a long history with botched adaptations of beloved novels, but from here it looks like fans of Jonathan Franzen's acclaimed book The Corrections have nothing to worry about. After years of attempting to bring the story to the big screen, producer Scott Rudin eventually turned to HBO -- and things have been shaping up nicely from there. The Squid and the Whale writer-director Noah Baumbach signed on [2] to helm and (with Franzen) pen the drama pilot earlier this fall, while Chris Cooper and Dianne Wiest joined the project [3] several weeks later. Now Ewan McGregor has boarded the series as well, in the role of Cooper and Wiest's screwup middle child. More details after the jump. Franzen's novel received high critical praise when it was first published in 2001, winning the National Book Award and landing on Time Magazine's list of the top 100 English-language novels since 1923. Jeremy Renner Unveils Key 'Bourne Legacy' Details

22 November 2011 12:58 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

This is a big year coming up for Jeremy Renner. He has a major role in the upcoming "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol," is one of the titular superheroes in "The Avengers" and is also launching a new branch of the Jason Bourne franchise. The latter is arguably his biggest project in the future, and the one we know least about. Fortunately, he dished some pretty big details in a recent interview.

When promoting "Ghost Protocol" with Empire magazine, Renner shared that his character in "The Bourne Legacy" will be named Aaron Cross, at least to start. "He ends up having a bunch of different names. For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it's a new programme and new characters," he said. "It's that same deal, it's just a new set of agents with a different leash.
