Cosmic Lovecraft horror novel 'Horror in the Clouds' unleashes

14 August 2017 6:11 PM, PDT | MoreHorror | See recent MoreHorror news »

MoreHorror.com

We're definitely fans of Lovecraft horror stories here at MoreHorror and the Lovecraft universe in general.

Lovecraft fans are pretty particular with film adaptations let alone adding to his beloved universe. The Cloverfield films have proven it can be done and embraced on film if executed properly.

Writer Scott Shoyer is attempting to go down that road with his new novel, Horror in The Clouds from Severed Press. It will be ultimately up to fans to decide if they are open to the idea of introducing "a new breed of Elder Gods", (is that an oxymoron?) into the Lovecraft universe. If anyone can pull it off, it would seem that Shoyer is primed for it.

Check out all the details about the book from the official press release below.

Rebecca Lea Aug 14, 2017

Our Stephen King screen lookbacks arrive at Sleepwalkers, a movie based on an unpublished short story...

The film: Charles Brady (Brian Krause) and his mother, Mary (Alice Krige) are sleepwalkers, which are a sort of werecat vampires who feed on virgin women in order to survive. The only things that threaten them are cats, who show up wherever they go. After draining a girl in Bodega Bay, they set up residence in Travis, Indiana with their sights set on local teen Tanya Richardson (Mädchen Amick) for their next feed. Mary is one mother you don’t won’t like when she’s hangry.

Oh dear, now that’s a cliffhanger.

This week’s episode of The Strain features three separate struggles that are quite gripping and continue to escalate the battle against the strigoi dystopia that has defined this final season.

Two weeks back, the always brave and capable Dutch Vanders was caught trying to free one of her friends from the baby factory she was imprisoned in. In that episode, it seemed like Dutch was caught and was going to become the main course of a strigoi banquet. Thankfully, the strigoi, specifically human traitor Sanjay Desai, saw a use »

Forbidden Tomes: Exorcising God – William Blake’s Poems from Hell

4 August 2017 2:39 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

When one thinks of classic poetry, one does not expect to encounter horror. No, this is space for romance, for musing, for political diatribes, for art. Maybe this makes it even more exciting when one comes across the macabre and the depraved, in classic writing. There are plenty of dark poems throughout history: Poe’s entire oeuvre, Coleridge’s “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,” and Goethe’s Faust are just a few. But few poets went so far as to create their own religion through poetry. Not everyone can be as rebellious and wild as William Blake.

My first encounter with Blake was in high school, and it left a bland taste (not that my palate was developed in any regard at that point). That level of academia focuses on his earlier work. Blake’s most oft-taught poem might be “The Tyger,” an ingeniously phrased rhyme examining a fearsome tiger in the jungle. »

Daniel Licht, ‘Dexter,’ ‘Children of the Corn’ Composer, Dies at 60

3 August 2017 9:36 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Daniel Licht, composer for TV’s “Dexter,” died of cancer late Wednesday. He was 60.

Licht scored all eight seasons of “Dexter,” the Showtime serial-killer drama, from 2006 to 2013. Although he also wrote music for movies and other TV projects, it was his quirky music for “Dexter” – employing unusual sounds using bones, knives, scissors, duct tape, wine glasses, didgeridoo, Irish harp and other instruments – that became his best-known work.

Seven albums of “Dexter” music, all featuring his scores, were released. Licht himself played many of the percussion instruments in a 10-minute orchestral suite of “Dexter” music performed live at Poland’s Krakow Film Music Festival in 2015.

Said “Dexter” executive producer Clyde Phillips: “Dan was an incredibly talented musician and composer, but most of all, he was a dear friend. His passing leaves all of us a bit quieter, a bit sadder, and without the gift of his music and his love »
