The Refreshingly Creepy Trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s “Mother!”

8 hours ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Stuff is about to go to a whole new level with the upcoming Mother! starring Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem. Horror movies on the whole have given us a lot in the trailer most times, but Mother! is giving us almost nothing, and it’s all the creepier for it. Those that want that shocking pulse of action or evil on the screen so that they can understand just how bad things are going to get might be disappointed on the outset with this film at first, but when you really listen to the trailer you can tell that things are

Darren Aronofsky Compares ‘mother!’ To ‘Black Swan’

17 August 2017 8:23 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Darren Aronofsky has always been on the radar for cinephiles. This is after all the director that brought us “Requiem For A Dream,” “The Wrestler” and “Black Swan,” three flat-out great movies. Most directors would kill to have just one of these films as part of their filmography.

Aronofsky’s latest film is “mother!” starring Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Domhnall Gleeson and Michelle Pfeiffer, and all we know is that it’s about “a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.” From what we’ve gathered, Aronofsky wants audience members to know as little about the movie as possible.

Darren Aronofsky Reveals What Drives Mother!

16 August 2017 9:48 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Darren Aronofsky is perhaps most renowned for the depth of his serious musings, as demonstrated by his body of work as writer-director. Projects ranging from 1998’s Pi, to 2014’s Noah – by way of Requiem For A Dream, The Fountain, and Black Swan – all bear the hallmarks of an artistic mind reaching for the light in an all-encompassing darkness. Such history is largely the reason for the intense anticipation that has now built around his upcoming feature film, Mother!

Aronofsky, his cast, and the producers are purposefully keeping the plot of this horror-mystery-thriller tightly under wraps – with only the slightest of clues having been included in the trailers released so far. We know that Jennifer Lawrence plays the lead, and that Javier Bardem plays her husband. We know that Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer show up at their door one night, and we know that things take terrifying turns from there. »

Horror Comes Home In This Extended TV Spot For Darren Aronofsky’s mother!

16 August 2017 9:23 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Similar to David Fincher and other astute directors operating in the wheelhouse of psychological thrillers, Darren Aronofsky is a filmmaker that tends to get under his audience’s skin.

And that’s by no means a slight against the Black Swan helmer; rather, his films are often imbued with such haunting imagery and unforgettable, downright trippy stories that they have an innate ability to leave a lasting impression on their audience. Aronofsky’s latest effort, mother!, is poised to continue that streak in some style.

Anchored by Jennifer Lawrence (Grace) and Javier Bardem (Eli), mother! tells the story of a lovestruck couple who find their home and, by effect, their relationship under threat from a pair of uninvited (?) guests: Michelle Pfeiffer and Westworld‘s Ed Harris. This unsettling dilemma is teed up rather beautifully in the film’s latest and indeed extended TV spot, in which Lawrence’s curious lead »

Paramount has released a new mother! trailer. The upcoming horror film stars Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem, and the story involves a couple that is sent into some sort of tizzy following the introduction of uninvited guests at their home. Details on the plot are still being kept largely under wraps, but the movie looks like director Darren Aronofsky is digging into the psychological horror elements of his story. While the last trailer featured plenty of creepy imagery, this new one presents a powerful juxtaposition where the intense dialogue is played against Lawrence’s character wandering around her idyllic home. … »

Director Darren Aronofsky Likens His Home Invasion Thriller mother! To Black Swan

14 August 2017 3:04 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Even by Darren Aronofsky’s own unique standards, mother!, the upcoming home invasion thriller starring Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem, has been shrouded in secrecy ever since Aronofsky first put pen to paper.

Granted, that radio silence was pierced by the film’s haunting first trailer, in which Lawrence’s Grace struggles to share a roof with two uninvited guests (read: Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer). Things go from bad to worse, too, when our lead begins to uncover a smattering of dark, unsettling secrets linking her husband, Eli (Bardem), with Harris and Pfeiffer’s strangers.

Part home invasion, part thriller, and all very Aronofsky, while speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the esteemed filmmaker drew comparisons between mother! and Black Swan, his Oscar-winning ballad of one ballerina’s descent into full-blown madness. Mind you, there’s no connective tissue between each thriller; rather, Darren Aronofsky is aware that they both exude a similar spirit. »

This week, the full trailer for Mother! was released, leaving us more intrigued by Darren Aronofsky's mysterious new film than ever. While the trailer does hint at the dangers to come, and we do have plenty of extra details, it's safe to say we have more questions than answers at this point. I decided to take matters into my own hands. With just the posters and the trailer at my disposal, I embarked on a quest that no one really asked for to discern what exactly the movie is about. Surprisingly, I actually unearthed some fascinating stuff. Take my hand and descend into this confusing labyrinth, won't ye? Hints From the Title Let's start with the most basic analysis. Mother! must have some sort of matriarchal structure to it. We just have to figure out who the "mother" is. Is Jennifer Lawrence an aspiring mother who wants to bring new life into the world? »

Trailer for “mother!” from Darren Aronofsky suggests something creepy

9 August 2017 12:51 PM, PDT | Hollywoodnews.com | See recent Hollywoodnews.com news »

Fans of filmmaker Darren Aronofsky got a treat (or more aptly, a tease) last week when a Teaser Trailer was dropped for his next film, the mysteriously titled mother!. Now, we have the Full Trailer for mother! to parse through, as it hit the web yesterday morning. It doesn’t totally clear things up, but at least the flick is giving a glimpse of itself. Considering how it’s only weeks away from fall festival debuts as well as it’s release date next month, it’s about time too. Aronofsky is a true talent, so anything he does is noteworthy. The question is just if Oscar can get behind it or not. The movie is a horror film, and a mysterious looking one at that. For months, the only plot description made available has said “A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence. »
