The cast of Piku gets along very well that they’ve become a family by now. With Deepika calling Amitabh Bachchan ‘Baba’ and with the entire cast having their share of inside jokes, they are definitely a happy bunch. And recently we hear that Amitabh Bachchan, acting like a typical father, pointed out specific things about the way she writes!
During the shoot of the film, there was a scene wherein Piku was required to fill out details while checking into a guest house. And while she stood filling out the register, her Baba walked up to her and openly teased her about the way she wrote. Sr. Bachchan even went on to demonstrate and explain to her the correct way of writing. Now isn’t this something all of us have heard in our houses too?
Piku is a family comedy drama that revolves around a quirky father-daughter relationship »

And also Govinda, sometime in my life because I feel like there is nobody in the world who has the kind of comic timing that he does. These are the people from the industry I would like to work with. »

Abhishek Bachchan plays a singer in his next film, the Umesh Shukla-helmed All Is Well. The character is modeled on Abhishek's father's character in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Abhimaan. 42 years ago, Amitabh Bachchan had played a professional singer in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Abhimaan, and then 8 years later, Big B again played a singer in Rakesh Kumar's Yaaraana. Since then this is the first time that an actor from the Bachchan parivar has played a professional singer. Says the director Umesh Shukla, "Yes, it does seem providential that Abhishek plays a singer in my film. It gave me chance to have lip-sync songs in the film." All Is Well went through a series of hiccups after Smriti Irani exited from the project. Now the film's shooting is complete and Umesh is readying the film for release on August 21. Umesh is happy with the success of Shoojit Sircar's Piku which »

The much awaited R Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut, Jimmy Shergill, Deepak Dobriyal and Swara Bhaskar starrer, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, the follow up to the highly successful Tanu Weds Manu, started on an impressive note. The opening can be termed as great in Delhi-ncr, East Punjab and good at other places, except for some stations of South and East India. The icing on the cake was a further pick up during the latter shows, which consolidated the fact that Tanu Weds Manu Returns is a sureshot hit, how big or small time will tell!
Meanwhile, after a decent start (at high end metro multiplexes), Anurag Kashyap's Ranbir-Anushka starrer, Bombay Velvet, crashed badly, second day onwards, ending the first week with a dismal 24 crore (to be validated). The film turns out to be the second disaster of Ranbir Kapoor's career after Abhinav Kashyap's , Besharam.
Concluding with the Amitabh, Irrfan and Deepika starrer, »
In a real life shoot-out, a Bollywood security contractor was shot and critically injured inside Mumbai's Film City complex Friday. The incident occurred quite close to a set where Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan was filming. Reports quoted a police official stating that two people arrived on a motorcycle and fired at least three shots at security guard Raju Shinde from close quarters. The seriously injured Shinde was rushed to hospital where he is undergoing treatment. “There may be a possibility of personal rivalry as he was shot from close range,” the police official was quoted stating as

Amitabh Bachchan had a close shave this afternoon. If the reports are to be believed, a security guard has been shot dead at Mumbai's Film City.
As Big B was shooting in the nearby vicinity, he immediately took to a micro-blogging site and posted about the same. "The 1873 - Okay !! Shooting at Film City .. and a gang war shootout 20 feet from where we are ... !!1 dead .. cops all over .." he wrote
While the exact details are yet to be known, Big B was certainly taken aback! »
The coming Friday will witness the release of one of the most awaited films of the first half of 2015, Aanand L Rai's Tanu Weds Manu Returns, the follow up to the highly successful and almost iconic Tanu Weds Manu. Starring R. Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut and Deebak Dobriyal, the film is expected to rock the box-office, both in India and abroad.
Last Friday's major release, Anurag Kashyap's Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar venture Bombay Velvet, failed to appeal to the masses or the classes. Not only that, Kashyap's hardcore fans too ditched the movie as they felt that he had compromised by going mainstream. As a result Bombay Velvet saw a dismal first weekend , netting 16-17 crore and will face monumental losses. The film has also failed to enthuse the audience in the overseas grossing £95,000 from UK and $300,000 from the Us, during the opening weekend (15-15 May »
Gone With The Wink

Directed by Anurag Kashyap
Smoke-filled hazy but hectic frames jostle for supremacy in Anurag Kashyap’s most stylish film to date.
So far all his gangland gaathas were fiercely homespun. Unkempt unwashed immoral sods firing their desi guns in the sugarcane fields of the Indian hinterland. In Bombay Velvet Kashyap jazzes up his gangland theme, spruces up his act, sharpens his claws and emerges with a story of q hustler’s rise to notoriety in the Mumbai …sorry, Bombay, of the 1960s.
The power of the gun is palpable. The ambience of smokey nightclubs and messy shootouts on darkly-lit sinister nights is impeccable. We can almost touch the terror.
Feel the fear, then, as Johnny Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor) sets out to become a ‘big-shot’ in Mumbai »

If it was not for the success of Mehmood's film Bombay To Goa, Amitabh Bachchan would not have got Zanjeer because it was writer duo Salim-Javed, who were impressed by Amitabh Bachchan's action scenes in the movie and requested filmmaker Prakash Mehra to give Bachchan an opportunity in Zanjeer. And rest is history. But how did Amitabh Bachchan got Bombay To Goa is itself an interesting story. Read on....
During the making of Saat Hindustani, Amitabh Bachchan came very close to Anwar Ali, brother of celebrated comedian and filmmaker Mehmood. In Bombay To Goa, Anwar Ali played the key role of bus driver.
Amitabh Bachchan and Anwar used to spend time together. Once Bachchan was at Anwar Ali's house spending quality time when Mehmood entered. Watching Mehmood, Bachchan immediately stood up obediently and touched his feet. Mehmood was impressed by the young man's ethics and went inside his room, »

We all have seen the Bollywood industry evolve in every way. With time, the actresses have got equal importance and screen space in movies. Not only that, the year 2014 broke the stereotype about women-centric films performing well at the box office.
Many actresses took risks; be it Kangana Ranaut doing a Queen, Anushka Sharma doing a NH10 or Priyanka Chopra doing a Mary Kom. When asked Deepika if Bollywood's outlook towards heroines has changed with the course of time, she said, "Definitely. And I think it's a very exciting time for the movies right now. Like I mentioned earlier, in terms of the scripts that are being written, the kind of risks that the director are taking or the kind of paths that the women are being offered, at least for me, I can say that it is a very exciting time for me in my career."

The coming week will witness the release of Anurag Kashyap's Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar venture Bombay Velvet. The lavishly mounted, authentically vintage looking and much in the headlines, Bombay Velvet, is sure to open to perhaps the best start of the year, both in India and the overseas. Having said that, given the high associated costs (80 crore), Bombay Velvet will have to perform well, even after the expected good opening, to succeed at the turnstile.
Last Friday saw the release of Shoojit Sircar's Amitabh Bachchan, Irrfan Khan, Deepika Padukone and Jisshu Sengupta starrer, Piku. Ask the director Shoojit Sircar if any sequel is on the cards and he says with straight face sarcasm, "We are making it into a TV series. We are planning about 8-9 sequels. "
