20 hours ago | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

A few months back (March 19 this year to be precise), a filmmaker named Ullhas PR filed a complaint against Amitabh Bachchan accusing him of taking more time than mandated, whilst singing the national anthem during the high voltage Twenty20 World Cup clash between India and Pakistan. This time round, Ullhas PR has filed a complaint against Sunny Leone in Delhi's New Ashok Nagar police station (a copy of the complaint is available with Bollywood Hungama). He blamed Sunny Leone for incorrectly singing India's national anthem at the opening ceremony of Pro-Kabbadi league. Ullhas PR, in his complaint stated that, during the rendition of the national anthem, the word 'Sindh' was replaced with 'Sindhu' by Sunny. He also added that there were two cameramen who were just 'moving around' when the national anthem was being sung. News reports state that Sunny Leone said that, despite being nervous, she was proud to »

Several celebrities have been expressing their concern over the constant increase of crime. Similarly, hinting at the increasing number of such disturbing incidents, Amitabh Bachchan too took to his blog to share his thoughts about the same. "Many afternoons evenings and nights did one spend on the walks by the inked sea at this Promenade .. today one gets up with a heavy heart to hear and see its destruction and the trauma it undergoes .. No words can even begin their journey to describe such devastation and remorse .. can we not just sit and talk it out and stop .. !!" He further added, "We sit and we talk and contemplate and discuss and ponder ..but nothing comes of it in any concrete conclusion .. one can only sit back »

Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth to clash on July 22

14 July 2016 3:05 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth, the two mightiest superstars of Indian cinema-with due respects to Salman Khan-are all set to clash at the box office in a most unexpected way. Rajinikanth's new film, the eagerly awaited Kabali opens on July 22, alongside Steven Spielberg's childhood fantasia The Bfg in which Big B lends his voice to the main character of a giant played by Mark Rylance. While this in itself may not be seen as a direct confrontation between the two behemoths frantic efforts are on to avert the "clash" between Rajinikanth and the Bachchan baritone. Apparently, Reliance and Fox-Star, the distributors of The Bfg and Kabali, respectively, are trying to work out an "amicable compromise" so that the two films do not suffer from the impending clash. Says a source close to the development, "Both Kabali and The Bfg are non-Bollywood opuses to be released in multiple languages all across India. »

He also admits that he’d love his grand-daughter Aaradhya to see the film even though, growing up, he never befriended any mythical monsters.

Gulshan Grover and Parineeti Chopra have already been roped in to dub for the same. While Gulshan lends his voice to the Bad giant- The Fleshlumpeater, Parineeti voices for the female protagonist of the film Sophie, played by a 12 year-old Ruby Barnhill.

Release date of Great Grand Masti preponed to now release on July 15

6 July 2016 8:47 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

With the online leak of the entire footage of Great Grand Masti, it's time for its producers Balaji Films to do some serious damage control.

In the effort to contain the damage Balaji Films have decided to prepone the release. The sex comedy will now be released on July 15, instead of July 22, as scheduled earlier, thereby facing competition from Steven Spielberg's The Bfg. Adapted from Roald Dahl's children's story about the bonding between a little girl and a giant, it is diametrically opposed to Great Grand Masti in content, intent and purpose.

Interestingly Amitabh Bachchan has dubbed in Hindi for the Giant in Spielberg's Bfg. So it's Indra Kumar's sex comedy against the Big B and a tale of innocence and adventure on July 15. »

Bollywood stars praise Shekhar Kapur’s daughter Kaveri’s first beautiful song!

29 June 2016 8:56 AM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Hailing from an artistic heritage as the daughter of singer/actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and film director Shekhar Kapur, 15-year-old Kaveri is making waves internationally, having launched her first song, ‘Did You Know’.

Having started her musical training in Hindustani classical music at the age of six, Kaveri then trained in western classical vocals, piano and guitar and subsequently started to write and compose songs at the age of 11, recording her first single at the age of twelve. “Making music is all I want to do,” says Kaveri.

Continuing Kaverisays, “Though I started to sing when I was about six, I didn’t become passionate about it until I started writing and composing my own songs. Writing and singing are the only things I think I will never get bored of. I feel like music is the only thing that makes sense to me. My song writing is largely inspired by »

Junooniyat Is The Stupidest Love Story Of The Decade – A Subhash K Jha review

25 June 2016 11:00 PM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Starring Pulkit Samrat, Yami Gautam

Now get this. Junooniyat is directed by Vivek Agnihotri, whose last film was the political backfire Buddha In A Traffic Jam. And this film, which could be re-christened ‘Screenplay In A Traffic Jam’, stars Pulkit (Salman Khan) Samrat with Yami (Vicky Donor) Gautam who were last seen as couple three months ago in Sanam Re.

Temptation, as they say, comes in many forms.

If you still find the prospect of seeing Junooniyat tempting then go right ahead. You only have yourself to blame for what lies in store. If Mills & Boon were a Bollywood franchise Junooniyat could be the masthead for the sections devoted to morons. The lovelorn tale is one stretched-out he-loves-me-she-loves-me-not yarn-fest based on absurd coincidences that make no sense in this era of instant communication when every misunderstanding between lovers can be cleared with just one click of a phone.

So sample this. »

“Te3n grips from the first frame. It is a thriller with a heart, soul and most exceptionally, a conscience. ” – Subhash K Jha Review

Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sabyasachi Chakraborty

Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta

There is a moment of subdued splendour in this thriller that is both brutal and tender, where a chaprasi in a government office–you know the busybodies who offer to help when the Babus act tough?— gives our autumnal hero John Biswas some vital information.

Then the chaprasi casually asks if there is petrol in John’s rickety scooter. As John parts with his only means of transportation he even helps the bureaucratic broker start the ancient vehicle.

Yes, the scooter has seen better days. So has John Biswas. There was a time when he knew joy.His grand-daughter Angela who was left to John’s care while his father went abroad. In a merciless twist of fate Angela is kidnapped for ransom and killed.

Debutant director Ribhu Dasgputa’s shimmering portrait of distant discontent is about John’s atonement, »

Review: TE3N A Slow Burn That Never Quite Catches

9 June 2016 7:00 PM, PDT | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

On paper, Ribhu Dasgupta's Te3n is a no brainer. A thriller set in Kolkata featuring three of India's most respected actors, produced by thriller specialist Sujoy Ghosh (Kahaani), and based on Korean kidnap movie Montage, it feels like all of the elements for success are there. Unfortunately, the film moves a bit too slowly for its own good and fails to make good use of the assets in its possession, leaving the audience less thrilled than they should be. Amitabh Bachchan is John Biswas, an elderly gentleman whose granddaughter was abducted and killed eight years ago. John has never forgiven himself for her death and has spent the last eight years digging for any clue he can scare up but mostly coming up dry. Every...

Ranveer Singh elated to be named Indian of the Year

9 June 2016 6:22 PM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Ranveer Singh is on a roll, having had a gold run at the cinemas all through last year and this year, the accolades are still coming in for Bollywood’s very own Bajirao. The year saw Ranveer play vastly different characters with equal passion and ease. On one end, the star sunk his teeth into his well-etched role of the Maratha warrior, Peshwa Bajirao in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Magnum Opus Bajirao Mastani and on the other he was playing a natural, distinctly subdued and highly nuanced character like that of Kabir in Dil Dhadakne Do and it was a unanimously acclaimed, stand-out performance amongst heavy weight actors in the same ensemble cast While both the characters lay at different ends of the spectrum, Ranveer’s stupendous performances in both the films won hearts unanimously. After winning all prestigious film awards in 2015, he has now been conferred with the ‘Indian »

Te3n review – Bollywood's sluggish but intricate True Detective

9 June 2016 1:15 PM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

This tentative remake of a 2013 Korean thriller puts Amitabh Bachchan among a trio hunting a lost girl

Riffing, Se7en-like, on the Hindi word for three, this remake of 2013’s Korean thriller Montage splices together a disparate trio hunting a long-gone girl: grieving grandfather Amitabh Bachchan, guilt-racked priest Nawazuddin Siddiqui, no-nonsense cop Vidya Balan. We’re watching Bollywood respond to grimtertainments such as True Detective – hence director Ribhu Dasgupta’s lugubrious, lights-off aesthetic – while wondering whether Te3n (pronounced “theen”) has taken on too much baggage. The first half proceeds at such a crawl, even the songs sound like somebody’s last gasp. Yet Dasgupta’s playing a reasonably intricate long game. The pulse quickens with a mid-film ransom drop, and skilled playing shepherds us through the twisty second hour. A touch tentative – the work of an industry straining to mature in line with its audience’s tastes – but creditably committed to a new realism. »

Film Review: ‘Te3n’

9 June 2016 10:17 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

For years now, the spirit of Bollywood has poured itself into the nooks and crannies of American pop culture (you can see it in everything from “Moulin Rouge!” to the tabla beat of the Nick Jr. girl-power genie cartoon “Shimmer and Shine”). Once in a while, though, the genuine article — a Bollywood movie — gets a wide release in the U.S., and when that happens, it offers a rare opportunity for some serious cultural co-mingling. When “Lagaan” opened it 2001, it was like seeing a cinematic bulletin in the form of a blissed-out epic sports musical. (The most exotic thing about it isn’t that it was Indian — it’s that it was a four-movie movie about Indians learning to play cricket.) Now, the Bollywood industry is unleashing a very different sort of movie in America, different in that it’s actually much closer to what we watch everyday.

Amitabh Bachchan Talks TE3N Character and Vidya

9 June 2016 1:06 AM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Audiences will soon witness screen veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan revisiting the whodunit genre as grandfather John Biswas in upcoming thriller, TE3N.

Talking about the genre and his role he says, “Indian cinema has always been making films like these. It’s just that, given the stage I was at earlier in my career, perhaps nobody thought of doing something like this with me. But now there is an opportunity because of my age, which enables me to play an older, weaker character. You don’t expect him to be able to do something and that’s basically what the outline of the character is. John Biswas is a middle-class man, he is Anglo-Bengali and there has been a tragedy in the family. He only has his wife and son. His family doesn’t live with him, but he’s keen to find out what happened and how. I don’t »

Amitabh Bachchan speaks out in support of Udta Punjab

The Udta Punjab conflict between the film makers and the censor board seems to be getting uglier by the minute. After most of the industry has come out in support of the film's release, we now hear that veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has also joined them. In fact at a recently held press meet for his film Te3n, Bachchan stated that killing creativity can kill the soul of artists. Responding to a question posed to him during the press meet Bachchan said, "I am not quite aware of what the issue is. I have been reading about it. All I can say is that don't try and kill creativity. If you kill creativity, you kill the soul and that is all that we have." Further explaining his stance Bachchan added, "I know that there are rules and regulations... That's something that the government has to decide. But as an artiste and a creative person, »
