Mumbai, June 18: Big B's heart beats for a gentle, female elephant called Bijlee, who is ailing and needs urgent help to survive.
After an appeal by mega-star Amitabh Bachchan on the plight of Bijlee, Mumbaikars, NGOs and even political parties have rushed to her aid.
The 58-year-old Bijlee, owned by a family of priests, was found lying injured and seriously ill on the busy Mulund-Bhandup Link Road, northeast Mumbai last week.
She had collapsed after developing a high viral fever following a large, maggot-infected wound on her hind leg.

Mumbai, June 18: What is Amitabh Bachchan concerned about? The ailing elephant Bijlee. He has appealed to animal lovers to rescue the tusker who had collapsed near Wockhardt Hospital in Mulund last week.
In a series of tweets, the 70- year old said: "Attention! elephant 'Bijlee' lying collapsed in Mulund, suburb of Mumbai...she needs cure...will authorities please extend all help."
He further tweeted: "There is an Ngo Amtm (Animals Matter to Me) working on Bijlee, giving food etc, but she needs to get to a hospital. Authority help needed. Equipment to carry (sic)."

New Delhi, June 15: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, a doting dad of Aryan and Suhana, has been voted India's most popular father in a Father's Day poll conducted by a web site. He got more votes than megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has a daughter and a son.
The results of the poll, conducted among over 11,000 Indian women, by matrimonial site Shaadi.com, were announced a day ahead of Father's Day Sunday.
Shah Rukh received 34.83 percent votes while Amitabh was chosen by 31.58 percent of the women surveyed. Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar took the third spot with 18.61 percent.

The son of a Bollywood couple has been arrested on suspicion of abetting the suicide of his girlfriend, actress Jiah Khan, police said. Suraj Pancholi was arrested late Monday in Mumbai, Officer D. Deokar said. Deokar confirmed Khan, 25, committed suicide at her home in Mumbai last week. A letter she wrote alleges that Pancholi cheated on her, physically abused her and forced her to have an abortion. Police authenticated the letter was from Khan, and Indian media have published it. While 2008's Bhoothnath starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Juhi Chawla released over 5 years ago, producer Bhushan Kumar, fresh off the success of Aashiqui 2, now announces the sequel of the film tentatively titled Bhoothnath 2. Bhushan Kumar is all set up help Abhay Chopra, Ravi Chopra's son, resurrect the banner by producing Bhoothnath 2.
A sequel to Bhoothnath is being put together and this time, Nitesh Tiwari, the Chief Creative Officer in the ad agency Leo Burnett who co-directed Salman Khan's Chillar Party, will be directing the film.
Bhoothnath was a story of a child who befriends a ghost, then starred Amitabh Bachchan in the title role. Even this time around Amitabh Bachchan reprises his role and the cast also includes Boman Irani. Bhushan Kumar confirms, "We are very excited to produce the sequel of Bhoothnath. T-Series to produce 'Bhootnath' sequel

New Delhi, June 10: Production house T-Series will be producing the sequel to 2008 movie "Bhootnath".
The sequel is tentatively titled "Bhootnath 2" and megastar Amitabh Bachchan will reprise his role of friendly ghost.
The movie will appeal to all age groups, says Bhushan Kumar, chief managing director, T-Series.
"We are very excited to announce the sequel of 'Bhootnath'. Amitabh and Boman Irani will be part of the film and it will appeal to all age-groups," Kumar said in a statement.
The 2008 movie was produced by Ravi Chopra and this time his son Abhay Chopra will be creatively involved with the sequel.

There were recent reports which stated that Satyagraha is based on social activists Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal, but filmmaker Prakash Jha cleared the air by stating that the film is about the relationship between a father and a son.
He said to the Times of India, “The film is about a man who is a retired school principal and a man who is successful in life but wants a father. It has nothing to do with Arvind Kejriwal and Anna Hazare.”

Mumbai, June 10: Filmmaker Prakash Jha wants to tap the power of digital media and says he will promote his forthcoming political drama "Satyagraha" through social-networking sites, a platform that has witnessed outpourings on some of the major public outrages.

Mumbai, Jun 8: Actress Shilpa Shetty, who turned 38 Saturday, has received "apologies" from her husband Raj Kundra, who has been questioned in the Ipl betting scandal.
Businessman Kundra, a British national, and Shilpa are co-owners of Indian Premier League (Ipl) franchise Rajasthan Royals. The "truth" in the case will come out soon, Raj conveyed to Shilpa in a tweet.

Mumbai, June 7: Actor Akshay Kumar, who is said to be endorsing about 13 brands, has raised his fee for endorsement, and says it is a give-and-take relationship and therefore no harm in hiking his fees for such endorsements.
"When some thing is selling well, then I don't think there is any problem in increasing the rates. I don't think anyone should have a problem in that. It's a give-and-take relationship," Akshay told reporters Thursday at the unveiling of Eveready batteries' new range here.
