Ricki Lake, Tim Meadows, Cheri Oteri Join ‘Easy To Assemble’ Season 2

12 July 2009 3:34 PM, PDT | From Tubefilter.tv | See recent Tubefilter News news

Shooting has just wrapped for season 2 of Ikea-backed Easy to Assemble from creator-star Illeana Douglas. Word is that Ikea was quite happy with the show's debut season and prompted a renewal for a second helping. The new season which launches this September, will add comedians Cheri Oteri, Ricki Lake and Tim Meadows to the already impressive cast. Returning for the second go-round is of course Douglas herself along with web regulars Ed Begley Jr., Justine Bateman, Tom Arnold and Kevin Pollack. Where the first season was shot exclusively in the Ikea store, complete with hundreds of conveniently pre-made sets, the new season is said to be only half in-store. We'll see the home live series regulars like Douglas and Bateman. The Rewards of Dating and Trust Funds Explored in La Comedy ‘MERRIme’

7 July 2009 8:36 AM, PDT | From Tilzy.tv | See recent Tilzy.TV news

The new web comedy MERRIme begins with an ending. In its first scene, the eponymous main character Merri mourns the end of a relationship by tearing into Krispy Kreme and replaying the last voice mail her ex-boyfriend left her over and over again. Twisting the knife that much further, you can hear another woman’s voice at the end of the call. So what’s a romantically challenged 25-year old rich girl on the verge of an eating disorder to do? Listen to her stepmom’s rabid offer to drink Master Cleanse cocktails? Frown at the maid for taking away her bag of crullers? Or is it to pay heed to her father’s curious demand that if she’s not going to get married at least find a job, otherwise wave goodbye to her stacked trust fund. Interesting side note about that father: played by Tom Arnold! And I

Tom Arnold Set To Wed Wife Number Four

27 May 2009 12:00 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Film funnyman Tom Arnold is preparing to make girlfriend Ashley Groussman his fourth wife, according to reports.

The actor spent a year single after splitting from his wife of five years, Shelby Roos, in 2007 - but he met jeweller Groussman at a Hollywood party last year and was instantly smitten.

According to the National Enquirer, the 50 year old has already proposed, Groussman, 33, said yes, and a date has been set.

Arnold was famously married to comedienne Roseanne Barr, from 1990 to 1994. After that first marriage ended acrimoniously, he wed Julia Champnella, before they split and he hooked up with spouse number three, Roos.

20 Years of Summer Movies, A Love/Hate Relationship

7 May 2009 10:00 PM, PDT | From JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news

With the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the 2009 summer movie season has begun. A cursory glance at the upcoming slate of summer releases looks pretty weak this year, but I’m not here to look ahead. Instead, I noticed that we’ve reached the twenty-year anniversary of the “true” summer movie age. Sure, Jaws and Star Wars were the godfathers of the movement, and the close-following summers since that time often saw two or three big releases looking to cash in on the popcorn-munching crowd, but it was 1989 when the summer movie calendar started to become bloated. The large number of crowd-pleasing titles (and bevy of sequels) included the following: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Batman, Ghostbusters II, License to Kill, Star Trek V, Lethal Weapon 2, The Abyss, Honey I Shrunk the Kids and, to a lesser extent, The Karate Kid: Part III. So on the Platinum Anniversary of the summer flick phenomenon,

The Skeptic (Film Review)

1 May 2009 7:56 AM, PDT | From Fangoria.com | See recent Fangoria news

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: The Skeptic (currently available via video-on-demand and opening in limited theatrical engagements in New York today and Albany and Los Angeles later in May from IFC) is about a man who inherits an old house from his aged aunt after she dies. He decides to move into the creepy old place and…

What, already? Hold on, I’ve only just started.

The reason Bryan Becket (Tim Daly) chooses to relocate into the manse is that things are strained at home with his wife Robin (Andrea Roth). That’s because Bryan, a lawyer by trade, is what a character in the beat-you-over-the-head script by director Tennyson Bardwell refers to as “one die-hard rationalist.” He has no room in his personality for sentiment (“You bet I’m unemotional!” he says at another choice moment), compares religious faith to belief in the Loch Ness

Worth Watching - Apr 25: Tom Arnold in The Skeptic Trailer

25 April 2009 1:06 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

What do you believe? IFC Films has finally debuted a trailer for The Skeptic, another horror thriller about a haunted house of sorts, but I'm featuring this one today because it feels a bit different. This is somewhat of an older film, as it was actually shot in late 2005/early 2006 and is just coming out this year. It stars Tom Arnold, Zoe Saldana, Andrea Roth, and most importantly, Tim Daly, who seems to make all the difference. Maybe I'm just being to optimistic, but it looks like Daly is one of the only really great parts of this. Realistically, it's probably a really bad film anyway, but at least it has a good trailer. Check it out below. Watch the trailer for Tennyson Bardwell's The Skeptic: [flv:http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/skeptic_trailer_854x480.flv http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/skeptic_trailer_854x480.jpg 598 336] After the mysterious death of his Aunt, a skeptic lawyer dismisses reports that her house is haunted and moves in. Still Wrestling 'Fat Kid Thing,' John Goodman Returns to Stage

Unlike millions of Americans, John Goodman hated Dan Conner, the beleaguered husband he famously played on Roseanne . “It’s one of those arrogant things that happen to you when you don’t realize the breaks you’re catching,” Goodman tells the New York Times . But the portly actor has moved on, and is readying his first onstage part since 2005—starring opposite Nathan Lane in a Broadway revival of Waiting for Godot. Despite his success, Goodman remains insecure, which pal Tom Arnold describes as “that fat kid thing.” The play opens April 30, but Goodman says he’s still trying to find his character’s ...

Trailer Park: Counting the Armored Skeptics

18 April 2009 7:03 AM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

Armored

A group of armored car guards plan to swipe several million dollars that have been left in their care. The presence of Laurence Fishburne and Matt Dillon offers some hope, but the basic premise recalls everything from Reservoir Dogs to the Oceans' series. When the youngest member of the gang makes Matt Dillon promise that no one will get hurt I cringed a little. This one hits theaters on September 18.

The Skeptic

I'm torn about how I feel about this one. In the plus column this haunted house flick seems to have some real creep out moments and reminds me a bit of The Changeling. On the other hand I've never seen Tim Daly carry a feature before and the rest of the cast, which includes Tom Arnold, makes me feel like this is a TV movie. For those less skeptical (d'oh!) it hits theaters on May 1.
