The CW Releases First Image And Plot Synopsis For Riverdale

20 May 2016 2:23 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The CW has been building quite a lineup over the years. Its recent acquisition of Supergirl means that its becoming a go-to spot for superhero shows, but it also keeps sight of its teenage and older demographic, too. To that end, The CW has finally released a plot synopsis and first image for its series Riverdale, featuring beloved Archie Comics characters in a slightly darker scenario than the bubblegum stuff we usually think of when we think “Archie Andrews.”

First, the image, courtesy of the Archie Comics Twitter account:

That’s Archie Andrews there (Kj Apa) along with Veronica Lodge (Camilla Mendes), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart). I have to say though that they don’t look much like their comic counterparts. In fact, they look like any group of overly attractive teenagers that appear on our television screens. »

The CW's Archie Comics series 'Riverdale' is just like 'Twin Peaks,' apparently

19 May 2016 6:22 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

By my calculation, the CW's live-action Archie Comics series Riverdale is effectively the ten bazillionth TV show to be compared to Twin Peaks over the last 25 years, and in this instance that comparison is being fueled by some of the cast members themselves. But how similar are they, really? While the Riverdale trailer screened at the upfronts in New York today hasn't yet been made available for viewing online, descriptions of the promo have popped up on various websites, providing us with a bit more context.  From what I can gather so far, here are all the things Riverdale shares in common with David Lynch and Mark Frost's hugely-influential cult series: 1. Twin Peaks alum Madchen Amick (here starring as Betty's mother Alice); 2. An (at least outwardly) idyllic small-town setting; 3. A Lynchian quest to plumb the dark depths lurking beneath said small-town setting ("Riverdale may look like a quiet, sleepy town, »

Detective Raimy Sullivan (Peyton List) has always wanted to prove that she is nothing like her father. In 1996, when Raimy was eight years old, NYPD Officer Frank Sullivan (Riley Smith) left Raimy and her mother, Julie (Devin Kelley), behind when he went deep undercover, got corrupted, and got himself killed. Archie Comics live-action 'Riverdale' show will feature a mysterious death and zombie fog?

19 May 2016 9:04 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

This is…different. Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and the rest of the gang are making the jump to live-action this fall. Riverdale is part of The CW’s 2016-2017 mid-season line-up, but based on the latest information, this isn’t your childhood Archie Comics. More like Twin Peaks meets Dawson’s Creek. Check out this official synopsis that includes a startling new characterization for one Ms. Grundy! As a new school year begins, the town of Riverdale is reeling from the recent, tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom, and nothing feels the same. Archie Andrews (Kj Apa) is still the all-American teen, but the summer's events made him realize that he wants to pursue a career in music -- not follow in his dad's footsteps--despite the sudden end of his forbidden relationship with Riverdale's young music teacher, Ms. Grundy (Sarah Habel). 'The CW' Lists Fall 2016 Schedule: 'Supergirl' Arrives, 'Supernatural' Moves

19 May 2016 6:45 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

The CW has a "super" new lineup for Fall 2016-2017, including the arrival of "Supergirl," which appears to be making a smooth transition from CBS on the same night and time, plus "Supernatural" moving once again for Season 12, this time back to Thursdays. The network really wants to keep fans on their toes with that show (which also has new showrunners). Whatever. Fans will follow it wherever it goes, even if it gets traded to CBS like a network fantasy league.

The president of The CW, Mark Pedowitz, issued a statement with the schedule release:

"We have four terrific additions to our schedule next season, and five great anchors at eight o'clock, every night of the week. [...] We are thrilled to have Supergirl on The CW this fall, joining our popular roster of DC heroes. Plus, we have three new series lined up for next season that perfectly fit our brand, »

CW Fall Schedule: ‘Supergirl’ Lands on Monday, ‘No Tomorrow’ Grabs Post-‘Flash’ Slot

19 May 2016 5:04 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Supergirl” will land in its familiar Monday 8 p.m. time slot when the drama relocates from CBS to the CW in the fall.

The DC Comics superhero series will be paired on the night with the third season of CW’s “Jane the Virgin,” in what the network called the union of a woman with superpowers and an “everyday superwoman.” “We think ‘Supergirl’ will give a real boost to ‘Jane the Virgin,’ ” CW chief Mark Pedowitz said.

Meanwhile, new romantic comedy “No Tomorrow” lands the coveted Tuesday 9 p.m. slot behind CW’s highest-rated series, “The Flash.” Pedowitz said the offbeat show about a romance that blooms as the apocalypse draws near “shares with ‘The Flash’ a blue-sky optimism” that made it a good fit for the time slot.

CW has ordered four new dramas for the 2016-17 campaign (see listings below), with three settling onto the fall schedule. “Riverdale, »

Big Names On "Twin Peaks" Cast List Of 217

The new "Twin Peaks" isn't slated to debut on Showtime until 2017, but a flurry of speculation about it happened last week with a tweet from Go For Locations indicating that filming had wrapped on the "first two seasons" of the series.

The episode count for the David Lynch-directed series was always in question, but that tweet suggested we'd be getting even more episodes than originally planned. Said tweet has since been deleted, so we'll have to wait to see how that pans out.

in the meantime in more official news, Showtime, Lynch and Mark Frost has released the official cast list for the new series with a whopping 217 names across the various episodes - a list that includes some real surprise big name inclusions such as Monica Bellucci, Michael Cera, Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eddie Vedder, Ashley Judd, Ernie Hudson, Jim Belushi, Richard Chamberlain, Laura Dern, »

Rumours suggest at least two new seasons of Twin Peaks

Back in 2014, it was confirmed that David Lynch and Mark Frost would be heading back to Twin Peaks courtesy of Showtime, for what was initially announced as a nine episode limited series.

That number was extended to an unspecified amount of episodes back in May of last year, and now after a mammoth 140-day shoot, it seems we may be getting two new seasons of the cult show, or possibly even more.

The following tweet was posted by Go For Locations – an account which has been reliable with its info on the production – before being removed; check it out via WelcomeToTwinPeaks…

Twin Peaks is set to air in early 2017, with Kyle MacLachlan reprising the role of Agent Dale Cooper. He is rumoured to be joined in the reunion by many returning stars such as Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne), Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer), Madchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), David Patrick Kelly (Jerry »
