Alex Proyas Doesn’t Want ‘The Crow’ To Be Remade

Alex Proyas, the director of the very first big-screen outing of The Crow, has been speaking of the plans for the reboot with filmmaker Corin Hardy at the helm and Jason Momoa in the title role. The Crow Reborn is currently in development over at Sony Pictures and will roll into production next year, but it seems that Proyas doesn’t want the film to be remade. His reasons are simple; he doesn’t want the new film to tarnish the memory of Brandon Lee, who was tragically killed near the end of production on the 1994 movie. The filmmaker took to his Facebook page, and here’s what he had to say:

The Crow would not be a movie worth “remaking” if it wasn’t for Brandon Lee. If it wasn’t for Brandon you may never have even heard of this poignant little underground comic. It is Brandon’s movie.

Halloween 2017: Devil’s Night Double Feature – The Crow and House Of 1000 Corpses

  • DailyDead
[To get you into the spooky spirit, the Daily Dead team is spotlighting double features that we think would be fun to watch this Halloween season. Check here for more double feature recommendations and other Halloween 2017 coverage.]

In horror movies, things usually go so very wrong on October 31st when it comes to the Halloween-themed offerings of the genre. But what about the night before? October 30th, or “Devil’s Night”, can also bring about its own horrific consequences, which is the theme I went with when it came time to put together my double feature of Alex ProyasThe Crow and Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses. Both are coincidentally feature film debuts for each director, they feature killer soundtracks, and this pair of films is also centered around a storyline where the characters will never be the same after their experiences on the night before Halloween.

Based on the comic by James O'Barr, The Crow finds aspiring rock star Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) rising from the grave a year after his death to take revenge on the four thugs (David Patrick Kelly, Angel David,

10 Things About The Crow You Never Knew
The Crow was a massive hit when the comic book tale was eventually released in May, 1994, but sadly, its star was no longer here to witness its success. The Crow is a dark, brooding, gothic, action filled meditation on revenge, justice, love, and the afterlife, strengthened with bits of dark humor and a haunting performance by the late Brandon Lee, who was tragically killed in an on-set accident.

The Crow is remembered for Lee's brilliant portrayal of the movie's hero, musician Eric Draven, who returns from the dead to extract revenge on the Motor City thugs who murdered both him and his fianc&#233. A supernatural bird guides Draven through Detroit on Devil's Night, one year to the date after crime kingpin Top Dollar ordered his henchmen to kill the soon to be wed young couple. One by one, Eric makes his way through Tin Tin, Funboy, T-Bird, and Skank, until

The True Story Behind the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Is Way More Disturbing Than the Movie

Tobe Hooper's 1974 film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is one of cinema's Og horror classics and a must see for any scary movie aficionado. Given how stomach-churning a lot of the scenes in the gory slasher can be, it's hard to imagine that the film's story has any root in reality. Unfortunately, like a lot of movies and TV shows out there, a real-life serial killer served as inspiration for the movie's chainsaw-wielding villain, Leatherface. While a family of cannibalistic hillbillies who prey on unsuspecting teenagers is luckily not part of the original story (that we know of), the idea for Leatherface came out of the case of murderer Edward Theodore "Ed" Gein, also known as the Butcher of Plainfield. He is suspected to have killed several victims between the years of 1954 and 1957 and remains one of the most disturbing and notorious serial killers in history. The Origin of

Drg takes on sales of 'Veni Vidi Vici' starring Thomas Bo Larsen

Mtg’s off-beat Nordic series set in the world of adult movies premiered at Miptv.

UK-based worldwide content distributor Drg has taken on sales of Nordic thriller Veni Vidi Vici, about a washed-up arthouse film director who gets caught up in the world of porn.

It is the latest Nordic series with international ambitions from Swedish production and distribution outfit Mtg Studios.

Both companies are owned by burgeoning digital entertainment company Modern Times Group (Mtg), but Mtg Studios does not automatically distribute its productions through Drg.

Its recent comedy series Swedish Dicks - co-starring Keanu Reeves and Peter Stormare - is being sold internationally by Lionsgate, for example.

In the 10-part series Veni Vidi Vici, Danish actor Thomas Bo Larsen stars as pretentious film director Karsten Daugaard who agrees to direct a porn movie after his latest arthouse romance flops at the box office.

The decision introduces Karsten to the murky world of adult entertainment and will

Movie Review – Ghost In The Shell (2017)

Ghost in the Shell, 2017.

Directed by Rupert Sanders.

Starring Scarlett Johansson, Takeshi Kitano, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, Chin Han, Juliette Binoche and Michael Wincott.

Synopsis:

In the near future, Major is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world’s most dangerous criminals.

The live-action adaptation of 1995’s ground-breaking anime Ghost in the Shell arrives on a tidal wave of controversy; fans are well aware of the concessions that come with adapting Japanimation into a $110 million 12A-rated movie, and that says nothing of the perceived “whitewashing” outrage regarding Scarlett Johansson’s casting as a character who was Asian in the source material.

Though the hardcore faithful are likely to nitpick it to death regardless, it’s an unexpected pleasure to report that Hollywood’s Ghost in the Shell gets much more right than it does wrong,

A New Ghost In The Shell Trailer Is Coming on Monday, But First Here's a New TV Spot

I have no doubt it will be loaded with lots of awesome new action-packed footage. While we wait for that trailer to be released, we've got a new TV spot for you to check out below.

During a recent interview with Marie Claire, Scarlett Johansson once again addressed the "Whitewashing" casting controversy saying:

"I certainly would never presume to play another race of a person. Diversity is important in Hollywood, and I would never want to feel like I was playing a character that was offensive. Also, having a franchise with a female protagonist driving it is such a rare opportunity. Certainly, I feel the enormous pressure of that—the weight of such a big property on my shoulders."

Anyone who's familiar with the source material knows that the
