Take a Look Back at the House Series Finale

22 May 2012 2:35 PM, PDT | BuzzSugar | See recent BuzzSugar news »

House came to an end after eight seasons this week, and the series went out as unpredictably as the curmudgeonly doctor himself. The final episode also saw the return of several original cast members, and whether you watched or not, it's fun to see actors like Jennifer Morrison, Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, and Sela Ward back on the scene. Check them all out as you say your final farewell to House. Photo courtesy of Fox View Slideshow › »

'House' Goes Out With A Bang

Series finale, 'Everybody Dies,' was flawed yet moving.

By Tami Katzoff

Hugh Laurie in the "House" finale

In the eight years "House" was on the air, the title character had plenty of opportunities to die: He'd been shot, electrocuted, in insulin shock and cardiac arrest and involved in a horrific bus crash, and he'd taken enough drugs to kill him many times over. Another chance came during Monday night's series finale — and it was a big one.

(Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

The episode, fittingly titled "Everybody Dies," starts off with the doctor lying half-conscious in a burning building after a heroin binge. Beside him lies his Patient of the Week, already dead. We know that he's facing six months in prison for violating his parole, and his best bud, James Wilson, is dying of cancer. Things do not bode well for Dr. House.

'House' series finale - 'Everybody Dies': Deconstructing Gregory

21 May 2012 11:42 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The final episode of "House" brought back just about everybody (with one big exception) who's played a significant role on the show and presented us with a "This Is Your Life" sort of story for its central character.

It also mixed in some of the storytelling technique of one of the show's finest episodes, Season 1's "Three Stories," borrowed a little from "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and House's literary predecessor Sherlock Holmes and came to, if not the happiest of endings, at least a happy enough one for its central relationship, that of House and Wilson.

"Everybody Dies" was an ambitious episode, both thematically and in terms of production, and it's hard not to respect the show for going for it in its last episode. But for about 53 minutes, it was also kind of depressing. That mood reversed pretty quickly in the final scenes, and in a way that »

'House' series finale recap: 'Everybody Dies'...did House?

21 May 2012 7:09 PM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The big question going into tonight’s series finale of House was whether or not Dr. Gregory House would die.

Between the rumored returns (Kal Penn, Amber Tamblyn, etc.) and the scary-sounding title of the last episode, spoiler-loving folk knew something afoot. Would House have a pre-death trip through his history? Would everyone meet up for a funeral? Would all of House’s friends gather in a big intervention? At several points during the show’s last episode, I thought I had it all figured out, but true to House form, it had me guessing until the very end. Ultimately, »

House Finale Review: Enjoy Yourself

21 May 2012 7:00 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Enjoy yourself. This is the very last thing we hear on House.

Ultimately, Hugh Laurie was right when he gave an interview at the House wrap party. He was asked about one word to describe the finale and after pondering it for a moment, he suggested that, even with a title like "Everybody Dies," the episode was actually "uplifting". I almost don't recognize this feeling I have right now because it's been a rarity. Satisfaction. I feel satisfaction at this ending.

Now, that's not to say that this finale was not without its flaws. But in terms of some of the specific character journeys, I'm left feeling like I can move on from this show without hesitation. The episode opens with House lying on the ground next to his dead patient. I still am unclear about how House and this patient arrived at this point, but what difference does it make? »

CBS Cancels 'CSI: Miami,' 'Rob' & 'NYC 22,' Renews 'CSI:ny'

13 May 2012 11:59 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

It's the end of 10 seasons of investigations, pun-filled taglines and best supporting sunglasses on "CSI: Miami" -- CBS has canceled the long-running series.

Star Eva Larue visited "Live with Kelly" last month to lament the fact that the show didn't get a proper send-off, if that was to be their series finale, after their episode order was cut to 19 to make room for Robert De Niro's rookie cop drama "NYC 22."

"It's not fair, we didn't get to tie it up right," Larue said. "After 10 seasons, we ended in a bar. That doesn't seem right."

But there you have it -- "CSI: Miami," ending in a bar. CBS sent out this quote with the official announcement:

“'CSI: Miami' leaves an amazing television legacy -– a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. »

'CSI: NY' vs 'CSI: Miami': Which should go?

3 May 2012 1:13 PM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Anthony E. Zuiker may argue otherwise, but the CSI franchise can’t go on forever — which is why rumors persist that at least one of the series could meet its maker by May 16, when CBS presents its fall 2012 lineup to advertisers. Common sense would dictate that CSI the mother ship should go first: It’s been on their air since 2000 and has lost three major players (Gary Dourdan, William Petersen, Marg Helgenberger) in the last decade. (We’d mention Laurence Fishburne, too, but honestly … do you miss him that much as Langston?)

But the long-running procedural has recaptured some mojo »

9 April 2012 6:35 PM, PDT | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

A couple make small talk at dinner, interspersed with flashes of what is about to befall them. Their home is invaded and the husband is killed presumably during the attack. It was apparent their marriage is over. Flack (Eddie Cahill) says the wife called for help which must have been a feat itself considering she was bound, gagged and in the bedroom. There were two intruders and both wore ski masks, what we'd call balaclavas. The daughter Megan, (Heather Sossaman) was at the movie theatre. Mac (Gary Sinise) questions all the houses in the neighbourhood to find out "why the attackers chose this one?" Lindsay (Anna Belknap) processes the Cs as we get more flashes of the events from the night. She finds a ski mask under the husband, Ron's (Vincent Ventresca) Db and the empty box that was delivered. Jo (Sela Ward) finds a hair from a slashed painting. »

Mac believes the Db was burned here and accelerant was used. The body was allowed to burn. Mac: "Somebody wanted to destroy the evidence." Sid (Robert Joy) is out of autopsy again and gasoline was used. ‘Bully’ Hits A Chord With Twittering Celebs

29 March 2012 12:46 PM, PDT | Deadline New York | See recent Deadline New York news »

Based on the reviews I’ve read of the documentary Bully, the MPAA’s decision to uphold an R rating that excludes the target audience seems one of the ratings board’s more absurd judgements. Releasing unrated is a gamble, and The Weinstein Co co-chairman Harvey Weinstein and his team tried to stack their odds by taking to Twitter, and the response was resounding. They’ve reached over 105 million followers from individual tweets and another 10 million from organizations. Among the celebs who’ve participated in tweeting the film are: Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson, Mariah Carey, Jonah Hill, Katy Perry, Piers Morgan, Joel McHale, Jimmy Fallon, Ryan Seacrest, Kristen Bell, Ricky Martin, Arianna Huffington, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Kate Bosworth, Kerry Washington, Brad Wollack, Rachel Zoe, Hugh Jackman, Rosie O’Donnell, Chelsea Handler, Khloe Kardashian Odom, Kim Kardashian, Paula Abdul, Kathy Griffin, Jeri Ryan, Jay Manuel, Alyssa Milano, Mandy Moore, »

Serena (Jenn Proske) is distraught over Curtis walking free. Jo is adamant they will get him. The Senator (Jeffrey Nordling) asks how she can say that. Wow Flack actually got the end line before the opening credits. Sid (Robert Joy) actually gets out of the autopsy lab to personally attend the Db at the scene. She was asphyxiated. Jo (Sela ward) estimates there were than fifty on the balcony, plus the marble table. Danny (Carmine Giovinazzo) collects prints from the table. College kids run around a cemetery on Hallowe'en and a girl falls into an open grave and lands on a Db. Jo (Sela Ward) comments, "It's not often you find a Db where it actually belongs." Mac (Gary Sinise) claims he was dead before he got here. Flack (Eddie Cahill) is canvassing the area for a murder weapon and Jo asks, "expecting the dead to speak." The Db was hit before the fall. Nice moment between Jo and Flack that's what gives this show so much more in terms of character development and why it deserves to continue. That and great storylines. Oh okay I've had my rant at the beginning, never mind! The Db has four phones on him, which Flack calls overkill Mac: "...so does dying in somebody else's grave." Hank moved in three weeks ago. His name is written on the door in blood. Mac (Gary Sinise) "Looks like Angela left us a message."
