Halloween 2017: 31 Movies to Watch on Hulu This October

9 October 2017 7:45 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Last week, I gave you guys a few lists from Amazon and Netflix in regards to what they have to offer via their streaming services this fall. As a newbie to Hulu, I only discovered over the weekend that they, too, beyond just being an amazing resource for television programming, offer up a killer selection of genre movies that are free to stream with a standard Hulu membership.

Here’s a look at an assortment of 31 films from Hulu that I think would be great movies to stream this October. I tried to give you guys a wide variety, too, hitting various sub-genres, so hopefully there’s a little bit of something for everyone in this list.

The Faculty

As far as high school horror films go, The Faculty has remained one of my very favorites for years now. Essentially, it’s Robert Rodriguez riffing on The X-Files, and who can resist that? »

‘Finding Your Roots’: Larry David and Bernie Sanders Are Related, and More Shocking Revelations From PBS’ Ancestry Series

4 October 2017 3:14 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Although Larry David had impersonated Senator Bernie Sanders brilliantly multiple times on “Saturday Night Live,” the men’s resemblance was written off as nothing but a joke. After all, they’re both older Jewish men from New York. Of course they’re similar.

On Tuesday night’s premiere of PBS’ “Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr.” though, they discovered they have far more in common than just looks. After running a DNA test on the two, host Gates revealed that they share significantly long sequences of identical DNA. In short, they’re related.

Dave Grohl tricked Christopher Walken into talking funny, which really wasn't very hard

For many people, Christopher Walken isn’t the Oscar winner who cut a stark, gripping presence in movies like The Deer Hunter and The Dead Zone, but rather as the guy who puts an odd emphasis on his words in movies like Click and Joe Dirt (okay, this Joe Dirt scene is actually really funny). Perhaps you haven't heard of Father Figures? That's because when the first trailer dropped more than a year ago, it was called Bastards. The team behind this comedy wised up, changing the title and giving you some time to forget. Now, they have cobbled together a new trailer, for better or worse, and here we are.

Arriving from Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment, the latest footage from Father Figures promises a Christmas comedy that will bring you back home. The movie opens on December 22, and it stars two heavy weights in the genre who've not been so busy lately. The movie teams the great Ed Helms with the always welcome Owen Wilson for the right amount of charm. It doesn't really matter how good or bad the script is, these guys will probably carry the material pretty far on their own.

Zac Efron Picks Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as His Dream Love Scene Partner: 'He's Perfect'

27 September 2017 2:10 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Zac Efron got Vogue’s 73 Questions treatment — and revealed some pretty amazing tidbits from his life.

The best one? Efron doesn’t hesitate when he names Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the person he’d like to have a love scene with.

After saying that the former wrestler was “absolutely amazing” to work with on Baywatch and adding that he’s “perfect,” Efron chooses Johnson for a logical reason: to “finish what we started.”

Efron is obviously referring to the memorable kiss the two shared in summer comedy; a follow-up sounds just as hilarious.

The interview also revealed that a »

I Watched Zac Efron's 73 Questions Video and Now I'm Definitely Pregnant

27 September 2017 11:56 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

From the moment Zac Efron rolls up in his Mustang in the latest edition of Vogue's "73 Questions," it's clear this is going to be a journey - a journey of renewed love, obsession, and holding onto a nearby stationary object for physical support. Over the course of the video, Zac talks about his costars from his new film The Greatest Showman, does an impression of Christopher Walken, admits he owns all of Celine Dion's albums, and talks about that time he decided to spontaneously tackle Macy Gray wearing only underwear. He even talks about High School Musical (which, by the way, is tragically not getting a fourth movie). And really, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Good luck trying to make it through without pausing to admire this beautiful, beautiful man. »

Zac Efron Keeps a Cut-Out of Himself by His Pool, Reveals the Movie That Makes Him Cry in '73 Questions'

27 September 2017 6:53 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

If you thought you knew everything about Zac Efron, think again.

The 29-year-old actor participates in Vogue's "73 Questions" segment, and is as charming as ever while answering candid questions, doing celebrity impressions and standing by a cardboard cut-out of himself at the pool.

Efron makes an entrance by pulling into the driveway of his Los Angeles home in a 1964 1/2 Mustang, a.k.a. the first Mustang model ever made by Ford, that he calls "Gramps," because it was given to him by his grandfather.

One thing fans will quickly learn about the Baywatch star is that he has a name and/or title for everything. His DJ name would be AfroZac, his life as a musical would be Zacalicious, and if he could just change his name, he would like to be called Khaleesi -- after the fierce character on Game of Thrones.

Review: Woody Allen's "September" (1987) Starring Mia Farrow; Twilight Time Blu-ray Release

27 September 2017 6:18 AM, PDT | Cinemaretro.com | See recent CinemaRetro news »

“Love And Angst”

By Raymond Benson

Woody Allen came off an incredible run of five superior films released between 1983 and 1987 (Zelig, Broadway Danny Rose, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Hannah and Her Sisters, and Radio Days) and then delivered one of his occasional “serious” pictures (without his presence as an actor) in late ’87 that was so dire that it only grossed approximately $500,000 in its initial run.

Basically a six-character “play” that takes many cues from the works of Anton Chekhov, September is set in a Vermont country house where depressed Lane (Mia Farrow) is recovering from a suicide attempt. Her best friend Stephanie (Dianne Wiest) is there for moral support. Lane is in love with tenant/writer Peter (Sam Waterston), and neighbor/teacher Howard (Denholm Elliott) is in love with Lane. She doesn’t share Howard’s affections, but Peter, however, is in love with Stephanie. Coming to visit into »

The Oscar-nominated actor sued in June 2015 with the allegation that E*Trade made a "firm and binding offer" to hire him for a celebrity spokesperson advertising campaign. Keitel was approached after Christopher Walken passed on the gig. Ultimately, Kevin Spacey was tapped for the role.

Drive-In Dust Offs: The Sentinel (1977)

23 September 2017 11:27 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

In regards to his filmic output, director Michael Winner was wildly inconsistent at his worst and wholly divisive at his best (and vice versa). The remarkable thing is that those two extreme opinions can be about the same film; some find the kinetic sleaze of Death Wish (1974) powerful and disturbing, others find its ham-fisted social grazing problematic and off-putting. But it was a big hit, so naturally Universal let him ride the satanic tide with The Sentinel (1977), a Good vs. Evil, Portal to Hell potboiler that warms this Fulci-loving heart three years before Lucio even set foot in New Orleans.

Given a limited release in January stateside, The Sentinel barely broke even on its $4 million budget, and the critics hated it, deeming it lurid, reprehensible trash. Which it is; but it’s also ridiculously entertaining and has a few truly haunting moments. Turns out Winner could do horror—and yet »
