The Blacklist: Season Five Ratings

  • TVSeriesFinale
Even though The Blacklist TV show's ratings have dropped significantly each year, NBC still renewed it for a fifth season. Meanwhile, the spinoff -- The Blacklist: Redemption -- was cancelled after just one installment. At the end of this season, the original series should have well over 100 episodes in the can -- more than enough for an attractive syndication package. Is this the end of the road for the Concierge of Crime? Will The Blacklist be cancelled or renewed for season six? Stay tuned. An action thriller, The Blacklist stars James Spader, Megan Boone, Diego Kattenhoff, Ryan Eggold, Harry Lennix, Amir Arison, Mozhan Marnò, and Hisham Tawfiq. The NBC crime drama centers on one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives, Raymond "Red" Reddington (Spader). He offers to help the authorities, if rookie agent Elizabeth Keen (Boone) partners with him. In season five, Red is in

'The Blacklist' Bosses and Star Sound Off on Shocking Death: 'It Won't Be the Same Around Here'
Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you haven’t watched Wednesday’s fall finale of The Blacklist.

The Blacklist said goodbye to a major character in dramatic fashion.

On Wednesday’s jam-packed fall finale, Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) bit the dust after he and his wife, Liz (Megan Boone), came under attack. After being taken to the hospital for their life-threatening injuries, the episode ended with Liz waking up from a coma 10 months later with Raymond Reddington (James Spader) breaking the devastating news that Tom had died.

Tom’s demise had been teased since the season five premiere, when a flash forward seemed to show Red entering the Keen home and pulling the trigger, shooting Tom dead. And it certainly didn’t help that Tom had been investigating the mysterious suitcase of bones that Red so desperately wished to keep hidden from Liz.

James Spader won three Emmys for his role as Alan Shore on David E. Kelley's law drama Boston Legal, but the longtime writer-producer behind Ally McBeal and The Practice said he received pushback from the powers that be when he first tried to cast Spader in the role.

“Bring the dog. Leave the poop,” Reddington charmingly demands Lou, the unsuspecting victim whose job happens to be keeping track of evidence. Reddington makes small talk with Lou, observing that his bulldog may need some medical attention.

With the flip of a switch, Reddington gets right down to business.
