Will Kim Raver return to 24 since ABC didn't pick up her new show? — BrightEyez
Matt: I see where you're going with this. Since Season 8 is set in New York City, you're hoping Jack and Audrey will rendezvous, Sleepless in Seattle-style, atop the Empire State Building. Well, put a pin in that dream for now. For starters, you should be with me in wanting Jack with Renee, not Audrey. Beyond that, ABC's Inside the Box pilot is undergoing retooling/technically still in play, so Raver might not exactly be available. But one Kim you can plan on returning is Jack's daughter — sources tell me Elisha Cuthbert has already filmed scenes for Day 8's first few hours.

The old-school Sam Raimi fans are having a ball this weekend (I hope) with the director's long-awaited return to horror, the very cool Drag Me to Hell. And of course all of you know Mr. Raimi as the director of the Evil Dead trilogy and / or the Spider-Man trilogy, but it's easy to forget that this filmmaker has one rather impressive batting average. Doubly so if you're into good-time matinee-style genre flicks! So here's a chance to look back over some of the man's other films, mostly ones you've heard of (and probably seen by now), but flicks that are certainly worth a fresh look every now and again. I'll start with one of my true favorites ...
The Quick and the Dead (1995) -- Raimi's ode to the old-school western is an addictively entertaining mixture of A) a great ensemble, B) tons of nifty visuals, and C) tongue-in-cheek affection for the old-fashioned western tales.

Ugly Betty actress Ana Ortiz has joined a growing list of celebrities battling a real-estate developer's plan to build a 17-storey apartment building next to New York City's famed Brooklyn Bridge.
Ortiz and fellow actors Gabriel Byrne, Helen Hunt and Gary Sinise have publicly voiced their opposition to Two Tree Management's Dock Street plan in Brooklyn's Dumbo - an area on the edge of the water with views of the Manhattan skyline.
And Brooklyn-born Ortiz, a Dumbo resident, is furious the development will block views of the landmark bridge and the city she loves.
She tells the New York Post, "Little by little, we watch as what is wonderful and unique about the city is paved over and homogenised."

"CSI:ny" star Melina Kanakaredes draws on her Greek heritage for tonight's all-new episode on CBS -- which she wrote! Our own Lara Spencer picked up Melina at the nearby "CSI:ny" set -- just a hop, skip and a jump from the "Insider" soundstage -- for a fun interview. "I've been a big Greek history buff for years," says Melina. "The first 'CSI' had gone to England and 'CSI: Miami' went somewhere else, so I thought we could start out season five in Greece. How cool would this be, because my character is half Greek on the show." In the episode entitled "Grounds for Deception," Melina's character Stella discovers that New Yorkers are being murdered over ancient Greek artifacts. Determined to follow the clues that lead to Greece, she hands over her badge and, together with Mac (Gary Sinise), she uncovers one of the greatest mysteries in history! Between the show and writing an episode,

Brothers at War is the latest score from Lee which posed a special challenge in a way that he had to write a sublime score that wouldn't overpower the movie. The film is directed by Jake Rademacher's who goes to Iraq to understand what his brothers are fighting for. Apart from providing a rare glimpse of frontline life, the Brothers at War also examines the effect of the war on families. The movie was brought added publicity when Gary Sinise (Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump) signed up as an executive producer in order to promote this unique approach to the subject. One could argue that this is not the type of film that needs a score, but Holdridge manages to bring some great music to the table without becoming an overpowering entity that would crush the realistic approach to the war. We're closing this special week with Lee's thoughs about scoring Rademacher's directorial debut.

William Peterson who played Gil Grissom in the first nine seasons of the hit procedural police show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has confirmed that a film version of the show is in production.
Speaking to The Radio Times, the star (who also produces the show) said that the film would probably happen sooner rather than later and that the film would need a solid story - so that it wasn’t just a case of “making it for the money.”
The star also indicated that he would also return to his signature role for the film even though in the series his character was recently replaced by Laurence Fishburne in the smash hit show.
Speaking to the BBC publication, Peterson said that he understood that fans of the series would be worried that a film version might ruin their enjoyment of the show:

Presently known for playing Detective Mac Taylor on the hit TV series, CSI: NY, the talented Gary Sinise has done it all--acting, directing, making music and producing everything from plays to films. Now, Sinise plays the role of executive producer for the recently released documentary feature, Brothers At War. Since Sinise has been nominated for an Oscar (Forrest Gump), a couple of Emmys and a Tony (for directing Sam Shepard's Buried Child), he's a good man to have on board. Though he only got involved pretty much after the principal shooting and editing was done, Sinise signed on to give the film's creator, director and producer Jake Rademacher, a boost in getting the public to come see his family film. Rademacher not only makes his directorial debut, creating this intimate portrait of an American family during a time of...

Forrest Gump star Gary Sinise funded a reprint of beloved horse racing book Seabiscuit in Arabic, so Iraqi schoolchildren can read it.
The actor teamed up with the book's author, Laura Hillenbrand, after learning that kids in Baghdad had become big fans of her tale of a heroic racehorse - following news from a U.S. colonel who had attempted to translate segments for them.
Sinise tells WENN, "Laura wanted to get it translated to Arabic because one of the colonels was reading the book and the Iraqi kids started asking him about it, so he contacted her and asked for Arabic translations of the book.
"We made 15,000 copies of Seabiscuit in Arabic and sent it over there."
That project sparked a connection for Sinise and the writer and they formed Operation Iraqi Children in a bid to get vital school supplies to the children of Iraq and Afghanistan.
The actor adds, "Over the past five years we've sent hundreds of thousands of supplies. Next month American Airlines is taking 25 tons of Operation Iraqi Children supplies over to Iraq and distributing stuff to the troops in Afghanistan to give to the kids."

Mar 13, 2009 On the way out of Brothers at War, one of my esteemed colleagues in the Chicago Film Critics Association summed up a pretty natural response to the documentary when he said, "Well, I guess if we have to sit through left-wing propaganda about the war then we should have to sit through right-wing propaganda too." Propaganda might be a harsh word for Jacob Rademacher's film about his two siblings serving in Iraq, but it's not far off. Rademacher and executive producer Gary Sinise are clearly the kind of people who believe that not only ...Read more at MovieRetriever.com
