Every 2017 4th of July TV Marathon, Ranked by Watchability

3 July 2017 1:22 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

And so we’ve arrived at an ultra-rare Tuesday national holiday in the States. For some, that means an extra-long holiday weekend. Others might be taking advantage of the day off by watching the Coney Island hot dog-eating contest and then departing from the living room for the remainder of the day.

But for those who will remain glued to the couch on this July 4th, the world of TV has once again provided a treasure trove of non-stop programming. By our count, 36 networks are devoting significant amounts of their Independence Day airtime to a single series. In the spirit of comprehensiveness and giving everyone an equal chance to join in on the fun, here’s a list of this year’s TV marathons, arranged by how well they’ll add to the quality of your holiday.

Milo Ventimiglia Has a Lot of Thoughts About Growing Out Your Facial Hair

27 June 2017 6:25 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

To play the role of Jack Pearson, Milo Ventimiglia has had to put himself on a serious facial hair regimen. Most men are allowed to let their scruff come and go as they see fit, growing it out in honor of Movember or through sheer laziness and then shaving it off whenever and wherever the mood strikes them. But as an actor that has now become synonymous with his mustache, Milo doesn’t quite have that luxury. In fact, his facial hair is so crucial it actually serves to mark the passage of time on the hit TV show This Is Us. »

Top 7 Movies to Celebrate Pride!Top 7 Movies to Celebrate Pride!Jenny Bullough6/23/2017 12:03:00 Pm

Pride Month is already well under way! With events, parades, and more, people are coming together to celebrate and show support for the Lgbtq community, and we love it!

But let’s face it, no matter how festive the mood is sometimes the last thing we want to do is go out in the boiling hot sun or pouring rain to stand side-by-side with a horde of sweaty strangers. If you’d rather stay home, you can still celebrate Pride with these movies (and more) from the Cineplex Store!

Boys Don’t Cry

Hilary Swank won an Academy Award for her leading role in this film, which tells the true story of Brandon Teena, a transgender teen living in rural Nebraska. Although Brandon finds happiness and acceptance with his girlfriend Lana, played by Chloe Sevigny, he has a hard time fitting in with the rest of the town -- especially when his secret is exposed...

The Danish Girl

In this historical drama, Eddie Redmayne portrays the Danish artist Einar Wegener. When his wife Gerda, a portraitist, asks him to stand in for a female model, the simple act of dressing as a woman unlocks a longing Einar never knew existed, leading the couple on a journey through the meaning of identity -- and marriage.

Brokeback Mountain

Widely hailed as an instant classic for its sensitive portrayal of forbidden romance, this period drama tells the story of two cowboys, Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal), and their decades-long love affair in 1960s Wyoming. Director Ang Lee beautifully depicts both the rugged scenery and passionate longing between Ennis and Jack. Have tissues handy!

Watch the trailer and click here to rent or buy:

Imagine Me & You

A happily-married newlywed (Piper Perabo) suddenly and unexpectedly falls head-over-heels for a woman she meets at her wedding (Lena Headey), creating a stir among her family and friends and causing her to question her sexual orientation in this surprisingly funny and bittersweet dramedy.

Watch the trailer and click here to rent or buy:

In & Out

When a small-town high school drama teacher is outed as gay by a former student’s Oscar acceptance speech, it sparks a media frenzy. Except he's not gay! Is he...? Kevin Kline, Tom Selleck, Joan Cusack and Debbie Reynolds fill the cast of this hilarious tale of accidental self-discovery.

Watch the trailer and click here to rent or buy:

Carol

The friendship between two women (Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara) deepens into love in 1950s New York, challenging conventional social norms, and the effects ripple through their families and community. Nominated for multiple awards, this unmissable drama was included on many "Best of" lists for 2015.

Watch the trailer and click here to rent or buy:

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Based (very) loosely on the familiar story of Dr. Frankenstein, this campy, outrageous cult classic finds a strait-laced couple (Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick) stumbling upon a party thrown by the "transvestite from transsexual Transylvania" Dr. Frank-n-Furter (Tim Curry). The plot is wacky, but the final message of "don't dream it, be it" certainly fits with the Pride theme of self-acceptance!

"Becoming Bond" Screening With George Lazenby: Cinema Retro's Mark Cerulli Reports

19 May 2017 8:08 PM, PDT | Cinemaretro.com | See recent CinemaRetro news »

(The new documentary "Becoming Bond" is now showing on the Hulu network.)

By Mark Cerulli

Prior to seeing Josh Greenbaum’s illuminating documentary, Becoming Bond, which premiered on Hulu May 20th, I had dismissed George Lazenby’s mystifying refusal to continue as 007 as just another gullible young actor taking bad career advice; like Tom Selleck passing on Indiana Jones, Travolta nixing Forrest Gump, Thomas Jane handing Don Draper to Jon Hamm… but there’s more to it than that, a lot more as it turns out.

Cleverly combining interview footage of Lazenby, still hale and hearty at 77, with well-staged recreations, Becoming Bond dives deep into this complicated and impulsive star to understand How he could casually dump one of the most coveted roles in the history of film. As it turns out, that decision is symbolic of who George Lazenby really is: intelligent, charming, naïve but most of all, independent. »

The Five Saddest Moments on Blue Bloods Season 7

Blue Bloods is one of the best police dramas on TV and that’s thanks mostly to its epic casting. Who doesn’t love Tom Selleck? And, Mark Wahlberg’s hunky real-life brother, Donnie, is not only a member of the hit group “New Kids on the Block” but an amazing actor to boot. In addition, Bridget Moynahan is much too gorgeous to be a prosecutor but she’s all business when it comes to the law. And, Will Estes and Vanessa Ray as police partners are a hot couple even when they’re in uniform. The supporting cast is superb, as well, and the
