Frightfest 2017: ‘The Terror of Hallow’s Eve’ Preview

18 July 2017 11:01 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

One of my most-anticipated from of this years Frightfest offerings is Todd Tucker’s The Terror of Hallow’s Eve which stars Caleb Thomas, Jt Neal, Annie Read, Juliet Landau, Eric Roberts, Doug Jones, Christian Kane, and Sarah Lancaster. Why, you may ask, is a generically titled film, about a wish-granting demon is so high on my must-see list for this years festival? Because Todd Tucker is the man behind one of this decades Best kids movies… Monster Mutt – which is an old-school family film in the most traditional sense: there’s no swearing, no violence and no sex, it really is the epitome of a family movie. Oh and did I mention that it features practical effects thanks to Tucker’s “other” job in SFX?

Given the fact I adored Monster Mutt I have high hopes for The Terror of Hallow’s Eve. Check out the poster and trailer below! »

Doctor Who: what next for Missy and the Master?

After the Doctor Who series 10 finale, what might be the future of the Master's character? Spoilers...

This feature contains spoilers for Series 10 of Doctor Who, including The Doctor Falls, from the very beginning.

See related  Jurassic World review Looking back at Jurassic Park

Peoples of the universe, please attend carefully. In life, nothing is certain but death, taxes and the Master coming back to Doctor Who every once in a while. First appearing in 1971's Terror Of The Autons, Roger Delgado's original incarnation even appeared in every single story of the eighth season, with various nefarious schemes designed to threaten or simply annoy the Doctor.

Over the rest of the classic series, he menaced later Doctors as the decrepit Peter Pratt, the full-on Kentucky fried Geoffrey Beevers, the wry, murderous Anthony Ainley and the 90s action movie baddy Eric Roberts. He was a master of disguise, »

Take A (Master) Class In Doctor Who History With This New Promo

30 June 2017 5:04 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

With John Simm having made his return to Doctor Who for the first time since 2010 in last week’s episode “World Enough and Time,” it seems like an opportune moment to remind ourselves of the long history of the Doctor’s nemesis the Master, doesn’t it?

The short video you’ll see above runs through the Master’s many regenerations at a rather quick pace. If you need some reminding, the uber-villain has gone through seven different incarnations over the decades. First, there was Roger Delgado (1971-73), followed by a horribly disfigured version (Peter Pratt, 1976; Geoffrey Beevers, 1981) and then there was Anthony Ainley (1981-89). The one-off Doctor Who: The Movie featured Eric Roberts as the Master in 1997 before the revived series cast Derek Jacobi in 2007. John Simm then took over, followed by Michelle Gomez in 2014.

A Look at Al Capone in the Movies

19 June 2017 7:42 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Al Capone is America’s best known gangster and the single greatest symbol of the collapse of law and order in the United States during the 1920s Prohibition era. Capone had a leading role in the illegal activities that lent Chicago its reputation as a lawless city and an interesting variety of Hollywood stars have had the leading role as Al Capone in the many films that have been made that featured him as a character.

The first film about Capone was produced when he was still making headlines. The main character may be named Antonio Camonte, but there’s little doubt as to who producer Howard Hughes had in mind when he and director Howard Hawks filmed Scarface during the Great Depression. Camonte shares more than the same initials with one Al Capone, who was about to begin his eleven-year sentence for tax evasion when the movie was released »

Emmy Contenders 2017: Guest Actor in a Drama

Look for returning characters to dominate the category, with last year’s winner Hank Azaria likely to repeat his nom for his role as disgraced FBI Agent Ed Cochran in “Ray Donovan.” Beau Bridges should land his third consecutive nod for “Masters of Sex.” Mark Margolis was last nominated for playing Hector Salamanca on “Breaking Bad” in 2012, and that was with a minimum of dialogue, so he has a good shot for bringing a younger but no less terrifying Hector to “Better Call Saul.” Ben Mendelsohn previously won in the supporting category for “Bloodline” but this year he’s eligible as a guest star. year. And both Dylan Baker and Matthew Perry could earn nods for bringing their characters from “The Good Wife” to its spinoff “The Good Fight.”

The freshman series “This Is Us” could be a powerhouse, with turns from Denis O’Hare, Brian Tyree Henry, Jermel Nakia and Gerald McRaney. But »

Boone The Bounty Hunter – Review

Review by Mark Longden

Coming soon to a VOD platform or Walmart near you is Boone The Bounty Hunter , and it’s one you definitely should be checking out. You don’t even need to be like me, a person who loves movies starring wrestlers and good old 90s-style action, to have a good time watching it.

John Hennigan is our star / producer / co-writer. After graduating from college with a film degree, he wrestled for WWE under the names Johnny Nitro and John Morrison, and he was pretty good at it; he now works for Aaa (a Mexico-based promotion) and Lucha Underground (the MTV wrestling show). But he’s always had a passion for the same sorts of movies I love – 80s / 90s comic action, kung fu, chase movies – and given the chance, he’s made this.

He plays Boone, a TV bounty hunter – his resemblance to any famous TV »

Pop TV Scoops Up Swedish Dicks, Private Investigators With Keanu Reeves

13 April 2017 2:25 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Ardent John Wick fans will remember the moment in which Keanu Reeves and Peter Stormare shared the screen in Chapter 2, when the latter plays Viggo’s snarling brother Abram Tarasov. But the pair’s history stretches back further still to Swedish Dicks, Private Investigators, the single-camera comedy series in which Reeves features in his first major TV role.

Having premiered via Viaplay first, we now have confirmation that Pop TV has swooped in to acquire the property as part of its robust slate of new original programming. Also starring comedian Johan Glans as an aging ex-stuntman, Swedish Dicks, as the name suggests, chronicles the story behind an L.A.-based private detective firm. Stormare dreamed up the idea back in 2014, and two years later the show had developed enough of a cult following to warrant a second season, with Keanu Reeves on board in a recurring capacity.

Cable’s Pop Will Dip Into Drama, Pick Up ‘The Goldbergs’

13 April 2017 6:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The executives behind Pop, the young cable outlet backed by Lionsgate and CBS, think rival networks might be set to burst.

As more new-tech distributors seek to offer narrower “bundles” of content to subscribers eager to get video content on demand, Brad Schwartz believes there will be less room for TV outlets that cannot lure a robust, passionate audience. “I think we are going to see a culling of the herd when it comes to cable networks,” said Schwartz,  Pop’s president. “People are going to have to pick and choose the content they want to invest in. We are going to be one of those networks left standing. Over the next one to three years, there will be more channels that go away.”

He cites Viacom’s recent decision to focus on six core networks and NBCUniversal’s recent move to scrap cable networks Esquire and Cloo as evidence of the trend. Distributors »
