Tom Cruise Races Back To Action In New Mission: Impossible 5 Set Photos & Video

5 hours ago | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

About ten days ago, with rumors circulating about Paramount's Mission: Impossible 5 possibly shutting down production to rework the finale, director Christopher McQuarrie had to come out and quickly debunk the rumor. With that out of the way, McQuarrie and the MI5 team got back to work on the exhilarating finale and over the past week, set photos have surfaced featuring superstar Tom Cruise running back into action as Imf Agent Ethan Hunt alongside franchise newcomer Rebecca Ferguson. The rest of the main cast, which includes Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Alec Baldwin, weren't spotted on the street, but if the finale of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol is anything to go by, they should all be involved in the finale in one way or another. Take a look below at a brief set video of Cruise on the street, courtesy of the DailyMail, and photos courtesy of Just Jared and ComingSoon. »

Christopher McQuarrie denies report that Paramount wants to reshoot Mission: Impossible 5 finale

21 February 2015 12:02 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Yesterday it was reported by THR that production had been shut down on Mission: Impossible 5 in order to provide time for director Christopher McQuarrie to come up with a “new and improved finale” for the latest chapter of the blockbuster spy series.

According to the initial report, Paramount executives were disappointed with the ending to the film and were demanding reshoots to the finale. Well, it seems that might not be the case after all, as McQuarrie has now taken to Twitter to debunk the story, stating that filming had never wrapped, and the plan was to take “a short break to prep the finale properly”.

Mission: Impossible 5 is set for release on July 31st, with Tom Cruise in joined by fellow franchise veterans eremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames and new additions Rebecca Ferguson (Hercules), Sean Harris (Prometheus) and Alec Baldwin (Still Alice).

21 February 2015 10:29 AM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Production was briefly halted on Mission Impossible 5, amid reports that the film's original ending has been reworked.

Paramount has already brought forward the Tom Cruise movie's release date from Christmas 2015 to July 31st.

According to The Hollywood Reporter production in London was recently shut down "for a week or so" while an improved ending was written.

It was reported that director Christopher McQuarrie met with an unnamed writer friend to create the film's conclusion.

Entertainment Weekly subsequently confirmed that production was paused for a week, but has already resumed again in order to film the revised ending.

McQuarrie stated in a tweet - since deleted - that "filming never wrapped [and] we took a short break to prep the finale properly".

He also posted a tweet on Saturday (February 21) making light of claims in the original THR report.

Production has halted on Mission Impossible 5 as the film's ending has been dubbed "unsatisfactory."

Paramount has already brought forward the Tom Cruise movie's release date from Christmas 2015 to July 31st.

According to The Hollywood Reporter production in London on the film has been shut down "for a week or so" as a better ending is thought up.

It is reported director Christopher McQuarrie will now meet with an unnamed writer friend to create the film's conclusion - although the writer will remain unnamed and unpaid.

With just five months until the film's release, one will have to be agreed on and filmed sharpish but a source has said that producers can't be too concerned with the problem as they wouldn't have brought forward the film's release date.

'Mission: Impossible 5' Resumes Shooting; Photos Revealed

21 February 2015 9:58 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Yesterday, it was widely reported that production had halted on the set of Mission: Impossible 5 so that the big climactic finale could be reworked. It seems that report, which generated at The Hollywood Reporter, was a little late in its arrival. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed today that, while shooting did stop, it was just over the course of this past week, and everything was back up and running last night.

In fact, a number of photos have come in from the set, as Tom Cruise filmed a late night action sequence as Ethan Hunt, running through the streets of London. Entertainment Weekly reports that the ending of the film only needed to be slightly tweaked, and what we see in these images is the revised finale as it comes together. The initial THR report claims that director Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise were working with a third unidentified writer »

Production halts on Mission: Impossible 5 to work out “a new and improved finale”

20 February 2015 12:09 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production has been halted on the upcoming action sequel Mission: Impossible 5 to allow director Christopher McQuarrie time to come up with “a new and improved finale” after the original ending was deemed unsatisfactory by Paramount executives.

The site goes on to report that there are no major concerns at the studio, with a high level executive reportedly responding to a question about whether the fifth instalment in the blockbuster spy series is seriously behind schedule with the comment, “Are you kidding? We made World War Z.”

Paramount recently moved up the release of Mission: Impossible 5 from December to July 31st. Joining Tom Cruise in the cast are fellow franchise veterans eremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames, and new additions Rebecca Ferguson (Hercules), Sean Harris (Prometheus) and Alec Baldwin (Still Alice).

'Mission: Impossible 5' Stops Shooting to Find New Ending

20 February 2015 9:56 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Last month, Paramount Pictures made the surprising move to shift their upcoming action sequel Mission: Impossible 5 from December 25, 2015 to July 31, 2015. However, with the release just over five months away, production has halted for "a week or so" after the ending was deemed "unsatisfactory." Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie is currently working on a new ending with an unidentified "writer friend" who will not be paid or credited for his or her work. Here's what an anonymous source told The Hollywood Reporter about the shutdown.

"Chris, Tom [Cruise] and a third person wanted to take a minute to get from what they thought was a good place to a more perfect place."

The source added that the July 31 release date is still intact, and if the studio was really worried about the status of Mission: Impossible 5, they would have pushed the release date. This isn't the first time that Paramount has had third-act story issues. »

Mission: Impossible 5 Will Be Released In IMAX

13 February 2015 12:36 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Paramount Pictures revealed today that Mission: Impossible 5 - the fifth installment in the hugely-popular action franchise – will be granted a simultaneous IMAX release this summer. The last M.I. caper, Ghost Protocol, featured several mind-blowing sequences shot specifically with IMAX cameras to capture the sheer scale of the scenes, so it’s no surprise that the studio is going the same route with this one.

However, this time around, director Christopher McQuarrie hasn’t been tasked with that responsibility, as the new flick has been “digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX Dmr® (Digital Re-mastering) technology.” While it might not offer that same pop as Ghost, judging by the glimpses we’ve seen at the flick – Tom Cruise dangling from a plane at 5,000 feet – there’s no doubt it’ll still be a killer ride. Mission: Impossible 5 Will Screen In IMAX Around The World

13 February 2015 11:58 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Paramount Pictures

I can’t say I’m even the tiniest bit surprised that Mission: Impossible 5 will screen in the big ol’ IMAX format, but Paramount have gone through with the formality of announcing the plans today.

When the film moved from Christmas to the summer it seemed to be a swerve to get out of Star Wars way, but more so on the limited IMAX circuit than in general. There’s more than enough ‘little screens’ for Impossible to come along a week or so after Wars, but the multi-storey IMAX affairs are rarer.

And Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol is probably the most effective IMAX release to date, going right for the easy-press button on anybody who is at all scared of heights. I guess they’re looking to recapture a bit of that magic here, likely with the big set piece where Tom Cruise walks around on the outside of a plane. »
