Want To See What It’d Be Like If David Fincher Directed Halloween?

Because I’m a giant film geek, I absolutely adore those “what if X directed Y” video mashups. Perhaps my all-time favorites are Patrick (H) Willem’s What If Wes Anderson Directed X-Men and What If Ingmar Bergman Directed The Flash. Now, it looks like we have two new challengers: “Jack and Justin” aka Justin Nijm and Jack Bishop, who you might be familiar with from their online comedy shorts – particularly, Dennis Quaid’s On-Set Freak-Out, which was featured on Jimmy Kimmel.

Recently, they served up a cool-as-hell imagining of what a David Fincher-directed Halloween might look like. Clearly, the pair know their Fincher, as they’ve gone to impressive lengths to emulate the aesthetics and atmosphere of one of his movies, complete with a stabilized camera and color correction. On top of all that, they’ve used Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ remix of the Halloween theme, which

Dennis Quaid Raises $100,000 in Harvey Relief for Houston Hometown: ‘This Is Really Personal to Me’
Dennis Quaid rallied his friends and local resources to raise relief funds (and morale!) for his beloved hometown of Bellaire, Texas. Located just over 10 miles from Houston, the town was devastated by Hurricane Harvey in late August.

The actor, 63, recently organized a concert fundraiser, called the Bellaire Block Party, with his band, The Sharks, at his birthplace. There he was able to collect $100,000 in donations to the Bellaire Brave Fund, an organization established to help the nearly 20-percent of city staff who threw themselves into emergency duty for five days straight during and after the hurricane.

“It was such a beautiful time,

Fan Turns Halloween Into a Trent Reznor Scored David Fincher Movie
While the fall holiday has already come and gone, it's never too early (or late) to celebrate John Carpenter's 1978 horror classic Halloween. Two filmmakers known collectively as "Jack and Justin," a.k.a. Justin Nijm and Jack Bishop, have taken footage from the original Halloween movie, and re-edited it to make it look like a movie from director David Fincher. This news comes just as a new Halloween movie is being put together, which brings back Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. Here's what the filmmakers had to say on their Vimeo page about this fan edit.

"What John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) might look like if directed by David Fincher. Contains footage from Halloween (1978) directed by John Carpenter, re-edited, stabilized and color corrected to emulate the look and feel of a David Fincher film. Title sequence consists of various stock footage intercut with effects elements, photographs of Michael Myers and animated text.

The Best Coming-of-Age Movies Ever Made — IndieWire Critics Survey
Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of film critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best film in theaters right now?”, can be found at the end of this post.)

This week’s question: In honor of Greta Gerwig’s “Lady Bird,” what is the best coming-of-age movie ever made?

Siddhant Adlakha (@SidizenKane), Birth.Movies.Death.

While it may not fit the western paradigm of a traditional coming of age film (neither a high school setting nor teenage angst or confusion find themselves the focus), “Lion” holds the distinction of being a rare modern movie that gets to the root of key questions of dual identity, questions that will only become more prominent in the age of globalism. It’s the most extreme version of having your feet in two cultures; Saroo Brierley (Sunny Pawar, Dev Patel) finds himself

George W Bush Shades Trump, Decries ‘Bullying and Prejudice in Our Public Life’ (Video)
Former President George W. Bush had some tough words for Donald Trump on Thursday. During a speech at the George W. Bush Institute in Dallas, Bush took a none-too-veiled swipe at the current president. “Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone,’ said Bush. “And compromises the moral education of children.’ Though Bush didn’t mention Trump by name, the implication was evident. Simpson,” on Sunday night he took home the prize for best actor in a drama for “This Is Us,” as the anxiety-ridden but oh-so-lovable Randall Pearson on the NBC-20th Century Fox production.

It’s been nearly two decades since a black actor claimed the prize — a profound fact that was not lost on Brown. Andre Braugher, who starred in NBC’s “Homicide,” was one of the first people he thanked in his acceptance speech. “It is my supreme honor to follow in your footsteps,” he

Bun B and Scooter Braun on How a Justin Bieber Ask Morphed Into the All-Star Hurricane Harvey Telethon

Bun B and Scooter Braun on How a Justin Bieber Ask Morphed Into the All-Star Hurricane Harvey Telethon
Houston rapper Bun B didn’t suffer any personal damage to his property during Hurricane Harvey, but the images of disaster zones taking place mere miles away made sitting back an impossibility.

“I’m sitting around in my dry house and seeing everything happening on television and I’m overwhelmed by compassion,” Bun B (real name: Bernard Freeman) tells Variety. “There was no way I could sit in this comfortable space when I know what people are going through.”

Of course, when a natural catastrophe of Harvey’s magnitude hits a major metropolitan city, it’s hard to know where to start. So Bun thought of the one person with reach so wide on social media (he just crossed the 100 million followers mark on Twitter) and an appeal so broad that people would have to listen: Justin Bieber.

The pie-in-the-sky ask to Bieber’s longtime manager Scooter Braun quickly morphed into the Hand in Hand Hurricane Harvey

  • HollywoodChicago.com
Chicago – It’s the opening Sunday of the NFL, and what better time to celebrate the films that celebrate the sport that celebrate the ballers. The earliest known footage of a football game was a 1903 match-up between powerhouses Princeton and Yale, filmed by Thomas Edison. The earliest narrative films dealt with the college game, from Harold Lloyd’s “The Freshman” (1925) to the Marx Brothers in “Horse Feathers” (1932). An early example of a pro football movie is “The Cowboy Quarterback” (1939), which involves a scout for the “Chicago Packers” (gee, even in olden days screenwriters were lazy as shit).
