Apple Renews ‘Carpool Karaoke’ For Second Season

Apple has renewed James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke for a second season, CBS CEO Leslie Moonves said during the company’s earnings call. ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Renewed by Apple for Season 2

Apple Music has renewed James Corden’s CBS-produced “Carpool Karaoke” for a second season. CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves announced the pick-up Thursday on a conference call with investors.

Based on a popular segment from Corden’s CBS talk series “The Late Late Show,” “Carpool Karaoke: The Series” features celebrities riding around in cars together and singing songs. the series premiered in August, available to subscribers of Apple Music, the tech giant’s music subscription service regularly priced at $9.99 per month.

The series features a unique pairing of celebrities in each episode, such as John Legend with Alicia Keys and Billy Eichner with Metallica. Corden appears in at least two episodes, alongside Will Smith and LeBron James.

Other celebrity pairings will include Miley, Noah, Billy Ray and the entire Cyrus family; Shakira and Trevor Noah; Shaquille O’Neal and WWE star John Cena; “Game of Thrones” stars Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams; Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith

The 2018 Sundance Film Festival Awards can be streamed online Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. Pt/9 p.m. Et.

This year’s indie honors, honoring the top feature films, docs and shorts at the Utah-based fest, will be decided by a jury that includes Octavia Spencer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Michael Stuhlbarg, RuPaul, Joe Swanberg and Oscar-cinematographer Rachel Morrison, who recently became the first woman ever to be nominated for an Oscar in the D.P. category.

Jason Mantzoukas (“The Good Place”) will host the Sundance awards program, which is also expected to feature a performance by “Hearts Beat Loud” co-stars Nick Offerman and Kiersey Clemons.

Founded by Robert Redford, the 10-day film festival was attended by over 50,000 people this year and featured 200 feature films, making it the largest independent fest in the U.S.
