Following the news that The CW has picked up the live-action Archie Comics series Riverdale for a full series, the Archie Comics Twitter has now unveiled the first official image from the show featuring Archie (Kj Apa), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Jugead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty (Lili Reinhart)…

The live-action series offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade. Fresh from the news that Supergirl is joining The CW, it has now been announced that the network has added another comic book-based show, having placed a series order for the live-action Archie Comics pilot Riverdale.

“This is a historic moment for Archie Comics – and I couldn’t be more proud,” said Archie Comics Publisher and CEO Jon Goldwater. “It’s a culmination of my time here, and I’m eager to see Greg Berlanti, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, The CW, Warner Brothers Studios, and the cast bring Riverdale to viewers every week. CW Picks Up ‘Riverdale,’ ‘Frequency,’ ‘No Tomorrow’ to Series

The CW has ordered three new series for the 2016-17 season, in addition to picking up “Supergirl” from CBS for Season 2 and renewing almost the entirety of their 2015-16 lineup.

Riverdale” hails from Warner Bros. Television and “Supergirl” and “The Flash” executive producer Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions. Set in the present day and based on the iconic Archie Comics characters, “Riverdale” is described as a surprising and subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade. Berlanti serves as exec producer alongside Sarah Schechter, Jon Goldwater and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also penned the pilot, which was directed by Lee Toland Krieger.

Would the life of police officer Allison McLean get a little less hectic in season two of the Ties The Bind TV show? We'll never know. Up has cancelled the drama after one season of 10 episodes.

This dramatic series revolves around a tough and experienced female police officer from Seattle, played by Kelli Williams. Like most working women, Allison McLean's hands are already full, balancing a demanding and dangerous job and a family -- husband Matt (Jonathan Scarfe), and teenagers Jeff (Mitchell Kummen) and Rachel (Natasha Calis). She and her partner, Devin (Dion Johnstone), must arrest her brother, Tim (Luke Perry), for aggravated assault. As a result, her world drastically changes. March 2016 VOD Releases Include Ava’S Possessions, Baskin, Emelie, The Revenant

For those of you genre fans out there always on the lookout for interesting horror and sci-fi films to enjoy from the comfort of your own home, March’s VOD selections feature several great indie movies that should make for some entertaining viewings this month.

Ava’s Possessions, a film I really dug out of last year’s SXSW Film Festival, is finally making its way onto VOD this Friday and Emelie, the babysitter thriller from Dark Sky Films, is also getting a digital release that day. Other titles arriving on VOD in early March include The Wave, Road Games and Camino.

Over the past few months, The CW has been putting together the main cast for its new series Riverdale, based on the iconic Archie Comics. Casting breakdowns that leaked in November teased that many of the main characters will be drastically altered. Although it was also confirmed that the new Archie will still be a redhead. Over the weekend, the Archie Comics Twitter page released the first photo of K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews, showcasing his new redhead look.

Production is currently under way on the pilot episode in Vancouver, with K.J.
