The Remnants Of Humanity Fight For Survival In Danish SciFi Exodus

10 December 2012 6:00 AM, PST | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

Though it would have been inconceivable to suggest even five years ago the Nordic countries now appear to be embracing bold, high concept science fiction in a way they never have before. And a project very much worth keeping an eye on is director Tommy Ipsen's Exodus. Produced by Richard Georg Engström with support from the Danish Film Institute Exodus is a proposed sci-fi fantasy project for multi media platforms (film, tv series, games, novels) currently wrapping a feature film pilot to present at the Berlin Film Festival 2013 starring Thomas Chaanhing, Cyron Melville (A Royal Affair, The Killing), Brigitte Nielsen (yes, the former Mrs Stallone), Matias Varela (Snabba Cash / Easy Money) and Kristofer Hivju who starred in the remake of The Thing and »

Watch: While You Wait For The Movie, Here's Marvel's 1991 TV Pilot For 'Power Pack'

Remember Marvel’s Power Pack? Well, this writer doesn’t, but they were one of the second tier Marvel properties being mooted for a small-budget big-screen adaptation a couple years ago. They were among characters like Luke Cage, Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, et al. (none of which have yet come to pass), but when the rumor first circled, we highlighted Power Pack as the property that likely had the most crossover appeal thanks to its pre-teen X-Men style set-up. Well it turns out that wasn’t the first time someone had recognized the live-action potential of the characters, because back in 1991 a pilot for a "Power Pack" TV show was filmed. The company New World arrived at Cannes earlier that year and announced that they had plans for a “Punisher” sequel, a “She-Hulk” movie starring Brigitte Nielsen (someone should make this now!) and a "Power Pack" show. AMAs 2012 best dressed: Carrie Underwood, Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber's mom among the highlights

18 November 2012 6:30 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

The red carpet for "The 40th Anniversary American Music Awards" was sadly lacking in major wow moments, but a few looks stood out among the crowd.

Amy Heidemann joined fiance and Karmin bandmate, Nick Louis Noonan to introduce No Doubt's performance. But not before turning heads with one of the only daring looks of the night. Amy's Falguni and Shane Peacock cutout dress was perfectly complemented with a spark of Nars velvet matte lipstick pencil in Red Square.

Nicki Minaj surprised us by toning it down and classing it up with her lime green Monique Lhuillier gown. Surprisingly lacking in garishness from head-to-toe, this is the best Minaj has looked on a red carpet in a while.

Carrie Underwood looked lovely in lace, pulling off the glamazon look in a purple beaded floor-length. Too bad her hair doesn't live up to the glamour of the dress -- we're not big »

Action Stars & Beer Commercials

23 October 2012 5:00 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Action stars and cold beers go together like Tango and Cash or Turner and Hooch, and just to prove it Jean Claude Van Damme has been sending himself up in the latest Coors Light ad campaign. With this in mind, Thn thought it may be pertinent to delve into the archives for other beer-guzzling celebrity advertisements.

There are certainly plenty of them out there.

Bruce Willis

Ah, who wouldn’t want to be Bruce Willis? Just hanging out with your macho friends and supping a refreshing Seagrams. And oh yeah, using the bottle as a microphone to sing a cheesy blues song? Dum de de dum dum, woke up this morning. Dum de de dum dum, thought I would make a fool of myself. That’s being harsh, though. We can forgive Bruce for singing on the porch, for serenading a scruffy, rough looking dog. We could even forgive him for (*cough* *cough*) Hudson Hawk. »

Millennium Hires ‘Legally Blonde’ Scribes For ‘ExpendaBelles’ Spinoff

12 October 2012 11:58 AM, PDT | Deadline New York | See recent Deadline New York news »

Exclusive: After grossing $563 million worldwide on The Expendables and its recently released sequel, Millennium Films has set Legally Blonde scribes Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith to write ExpendaBelles, the title of the spinoff action film that will show the feminine side of the mercenary business. The intention is to hatch a franchise that will be driven by actresses who’ve logged time in action films over the years, much the same way that The Expendables team is comprised of action film staples. Millennium will finance with Avi Lerner and Mark Gill producing, along with Heidi Jo Markel of Eclectic Pictures and Julie Kroll of Summertime Entertainment and Boaz Davidson. Trevor Short will be executive producer. The action game hasn’t been as steady for actresses as it has been for their male counterparts, but certainly Angelina Jolie thrives and Underworld‘s Kate Beckinsale, Resident Evil‘s Milla Jovovich, Haywire‘s Gina Carano, »

Arnold Schwarzenegger's autobiography: the most unpleasant celebrity memoir ever

5 October 2012 6:46 AM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Total Recall – My Unbelievably True Life Story merely confirms our suspicions: that nothing brings Arnie more pleasure than himself

Oho! What gift is this from the celebrity gods, floating down on to the Lost in Showbiz desk? Why, it's Arnold Schwarzenegger's 650-page autobiography, Total Recall – My Unbelievably True Life Story. While LiS is dismayed to lose its long-running bet that the title would be I Told You I'd Be Back – And I Am!, the subtitle does provide consolations with its pleasing similarity to Gary Shteyngart's tale of a plucky immigrant in America, Super Sad True Love Story, but Arnified. Thank you, celebrity gods! Tools down, everyone – it's a Lost in Showbiz book group special.

The first thing to say is that this is not a celebrity autobiography. Trust me, I have a degree in celebrity autobiographies from TMZ.com University, and this is not a contribution to that noble genre. »

The shorter wit and wisdom of Arnold Schwarzenegger | Emma Brockes

2 October 2012 5:00 AM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

A digest of Arnie's 650-page, aptly-named autobiography, Total Recall – from muscles to movies and from Maria to Mildred

Like most profoundly unfunny people, Arnold Schwarzenegger is very proud of his sense of humour.

Hardly a page goes by in Total Recall, his whopping 650-page memoir, without a reference to some sticky situation he got out of through cunning use of deadpan or a passing zinger – for example, when he debated Arianna Huffington during the 2003 California gubernatorial race:

"If she got overly dramatic, I could say, 'I know you're Greek' or 'Switch to decaf.'"

The other thing you learn from Arnie's book is that everything in life has a bodybuilding analogy. Once in office, losing a dispute with the labor unions was like "losing to Frank Zane in Miami [Mr Universe, 1968] when I first came to America."

How Arnold Schwarzenegger Almost Ruined His Signature Catchphrase

1 October 2012 2:49 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Arnold Schwarzenegger has made a career out of telling people he's back. That started, famously, with the 1984 film "Terminator," when Schwarzengger ominously told a police station clerk that he would be back.

As it turns out, the iconic catchphrase "I'll be back" almost never happened.

In an interview with Good Morning America on Monday, Schwarzenegger revealed that because he couldn't pronounce "I'll" properly, he had asked director James Cameron to change the line to "I will be back." When Cameron refused, Schwarzenegger was forced to power through. His hard work paid off, as "I'll be back" was ranked the 37th greatest line in movie history by the American Film Institute.

Schwarzenegger is making the press rounds to support his new memoir, Total Recall. In the book, the ex-governor of California details his infidelity, which included an affair with actress Brigitte Nielsen. Schwarzenegger called the affair "hot" in the book.

Arnold & Maria's Marriage Was Full Of Secrets

1 October 2012 5:09 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Sacramento, Calif. -- Arnold Schwarzenegger says his lifelong penchant for secrecy and ability to put his emotions "on deep freeze" led him to keep many secrets from his wife Maria Shriver, eventually causing the dissolution of their marriage when he was forced to admit he fathered a child with the family's housekeeper years earlier.

Throughout their strained 25-year marriage, Schwarzenegger says he did not want to tell Shriver about crucial life decisions such as major heart surgery and running for California governor because he feared she would overreact and tell her well-connected family and friends.

In his new autobiography, "Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story," and in an interview airing Sunday on "60 Minutes," the former California governor acknowledges that his inability to be honest with people has hurt those closest to him.
