Today, The Fighter joins the hallowed company of Oscar-baiting bruisefests like Raging Bull, Somebody Up There Likes Me, and Million Dollar Baby. Reviews are glowing — check out Owen Gleiberman’s here. But even though we’re sure The Fighter is good, we’re equally sure it won’t be able to save America from the world’s greatest villains: Russians who look like Scandinavians. No, only one movie was brave enough to single-handedly defeat the Soviet Union in the ring: Rocky IV, the craziest entry in Sylvester Stallone’s boxing franchise. How did a series about a lovable everyman boxer »

Brigitte Nielsen admits she is a "jealous and possessive" wife because she worries her toyboy husband will be tempted to leave her for a younger woman.
The 47-year-old Danish actress married Mattia Dessi in 2006, but admits the union is plagued by her insecurities about their romance.

Brigitte Nielsen is heading to British TV with a female-only talk show.
The 47-year-old actress has been offered a deal to host her own programme in the U.K. which will see her interview famous guests to discuss a variety of topics including politics, current affairs and beauty.
Nielsen insists the show has a "no men" rule and will only feature appearances from "strong, powerful, successful women".
She tells Britain's Daily Express, "I’m hosting a women’s talk show so all us girls can get together and chat. It’s about time. No men will be invited. It’s girls’ talk. There will be a lot of strong, powerful, successful women. There will be actresses, politicians and models and public figures. Women are complicated but we’re the best."
And Nielsen will also be doling out advice and helping her interviewees with their problems. She adds, "Because of the down periods in my life I am in a position to give good advice to people going down the same path as me. I can hopefully stop them and help them turn their lives around and make them see they never need to give up.” »
This past Thursday, my DVR and I felt mighty lonely without our favorite show Parks & Recreation, which was benched until January. But that emptiness was filled last night when the former Saturday Night Live star returned to her old workplace to host the premiere of the 36th season.
Before Poehler took the stage, we got a cold open featuring Kristen Wiig as tea party member Christine O’Donnell, who’s been on everyone lips thanks to proclamations of witchcraft and a thing against monkeys:

Christine O'Donnell's Checkered Past
The opening skit lambasted the new Delaware Republican Senatorial candidate Christine O'Donnell, playing off of her dabbling-in-witchcraft confession by portraying her as a masturbating, dog-fight staging arsonist. Hee. Kristen Wiig can be so good sometimes.
Amy Poehler's affairs
A nice joke in Amy's opening monologue is that she's had "two beautiful boys" since being on "SNL." The two beautiful boys in question are Nick Jonas and Taylor Lautner and to them she says, "You're welcome." Poehler then went on a "nightmare" scenario of "SNL" where Justin Timberlake, Rachel Dratch, Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon all made cameo appearances. It was delightful.
Maya Rudolph also returned to the show for the "Coffee Talk"-esque "Bronx Beat" sketch with Poehler. »

The Danish actress - who has battled alcohol addictions in the past - has revealed she will adhere to a strict ''no men invited'' policy, and discuss everything from politics to beauty to her own personal problems on her new British programme. There will be a lot of strong, powerful, successful women and not only actresses. ''There will be politicians and models and public .. »
Julia Roberts made "friends for life" shooting "Eat, Pray, Love". The Oscar-winning actress traveled to Bali, India and Italy to film the movie and revealed it had been a "beautiful" experience, especially because she was able to take her husband Danny Moder and children, five-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and three-year-old son Henry with her on location.
"It was beautiful traveling to all those amazing places with my family," Julia told Bang Showbiz when speaking at the U.K. premiere of "Eat, Pray, Love" at the Empire cinema in London's Leicester Square Wednesday night, September 22. One of my fondest childhood memories involved a thrilling trip to a dank, grimy, old sewer tunnel, climbing in and placing my head between its enormous, seemingly razor sharp fan blades. Of course, I was in no real danger and everything had been constructed from wood. Still, it was an experience I wouldn’t forget – albeit a bizarre one. I was touring the set of a new Sylvester Stallone action opus. Yet, all was not well.
Our insightful tour guide explained the nightmarish production problems. Personnel changes (including the replacement of the film’s director and cinematographer at different points in production) and ever-changing script were leading to severe cost overruns. Executives were nervous because of tepid box office returns for the Stallone vehicle Lock Up. As such, the movie’s title, The Set Up, was being changed to Tango & Cash, to eradicate any association.

In A World where superheroes rule, Sylvester Stallone is hoping to resurrect the action man.
Bristling with such brawny brutes amid an assault of bullets and explosions, the film has already topped the Us box office and this weekend blasts into UK cinemas.
While any child of the 70s and 80s will be only too familiar with these names, the younger generation seems to have fallen out of love with action heroes.

This weekend, I will be front-row-center at The Expendables. I’ll be the guy with the drool bib on. Now, let me be clear: It’s not because I’m dying to see the side of aged beef that is Sylvester Stallone or soak up the chrome-domed Cockney bad-assery of Jason Statham (who I like a lot). It’s not because of Jet Li, who I could take or leave. And since I never really got all that geeked up about mixed martial arts or professional wrestling, the presence of Randy Couture or “Stone Cold” Steve Austin doesn’t mean that much to me. »

Sylvester Stallone admits he has made mistakes in his personal life. The Hollywood actor did a lot of things he regrets before he met his wife, former model Jennifer Flavin, but is now happier than ever.

According to Scotland’s Daily Record, Stallone, 64, also said that he never thought he would find happiness again, after his two failed marriages to actress Sasha Czack and former model Brigitte Nielsen.
“I was very depressed about my personal life and my career wasn’t. »
Sylvester Stallone plunged into a deep depression as his movie career waned - and was convinced he'd never be happy again.
The 64-year-old actor/director hit a low point as he approached the age of 50 after a string of box office flops and several "worst actor" awards left him facing life on the Hollywood scrapheap.
He tells Scotland's Daily Record, "I was very depressed about my personal life and my career wasn't in any great shape either. I was also about to hit 50 and naturally you start to worry about how you age, how you look and what life has in store for you. But I went through that mid-life crisis, if you want to call it that, and today things are looking pretty good.
"You never expect happiness after you've gone through a lot of suffering in your life. A lot of my romantic troubles in the past were my own fault because I was too naive and too trusting of certain women in my life. I was burned and burned badly. But I also learned a lot about women in the process, good and bad." »
