He was offered the role of Lieutenant General Brian Horrocks
in A Bridge Too Far
(1977) but he was forced to decline due to a scheduling conflict with The Spy Who Loved Me
(1977). He became available when the shooting of the Bond film was delayed. However, Horrocks had approval over the casting and turned Moore down. The role instead went to Edward Fox
