New Stranger Things Trailer Ramps Up The Nostalgia Factor

30 June 2016 9:28 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

If Super 8 and, more recently, Jeff Nichols’ wonderful Midnight Special basked audiences in a familiar, Amblin glow, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer’s upcoming Netflix series Stranger Things is poised to ramp up that nostalgia factor ten-fold.

A love letter to ’80s sci-fi and the cinematic résumé of one Steven Spielberg, the hour-long show is rooted in Hawkins, Indiana, where a paranormal mystery has citizens on a knife’s edge.

With a promising cast of big names and relative newcomers, Stranger Things is the story of “a young boy who vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.”

Of that ensemble, it is Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin’s trio of friends that anchor the spooky action, as they begin to peel »

Nostalgic 80’s Amblin-esque Stranger Things Trailer is a Must See!

9 June 2016 1:03 PM, PDT | Destroy the Brain | See recent Destroy the Brain news »

Personally, it’s odd that I hear about this show today. I just got my 3 12-packs of Hi-c’s Ecto Cooler in the mail from Amazon Pantry in my house today (couldn’t find it locally) and from my first sip, I remembered all the things I did in the 90’s. 6 VHS tape From Dusk ‘Til Dawn Marathons in my room of my parent’s house. Eating pizza from a plate while sitting on the floor so I could be closer to my tube television and Vcr so I could quickly rewind the tape of the film I just watched and put in the next one to keep the movie marathon going. Then, this trailer comes across my inbox and it hits all the right chords. I’ll admit, that maybe it hit me at a nostalgic time but I think this series looks amazing. Check out the trailer below. »

Netflix Unveils Winona Ryder in ‘Stranger Things’ Trailer

Winona Ryder is a criminally underrated actor. Who can forget her beautiful on-camera work in “Little Women,” “Girl, Interrupted,” and of course, “Beetlejuice”? It’s about time the actor had a TV series all to herself to show off her dramatic chops. Netflix has provided us such a showcase with “Stranger Things,” a new show about things that go bump in the night, dropping eight episodes all at once on July 15.  Created, written, and directed by Matt and Ross Duffer, the series follows a mother in Indiana (Ryder) trying to recover her son, who may have disappeared under suspicious (think supernatural and/or extraterrestrial) circumstances. Co-starring David Harbour, Matthew Modine, and Cara Buono, “Stranger Things” looks to be made for binge-watching—and spine-tingling. Check out the new trailer below.  Inspired by this post?
