Cosmopolis‘ Robert Pattinson, David Cronenberg, Sarah Gadon, Paul Giamatti, and Emily Hampshire posed for photographers at the Cannes Film Festival 2012, where Cosmopolis is in the running for the Palme d’Or. The above Robert Pattinson photo was posted at Just Jared, which has several other images from the Cosmopolis photo call. Cronenberg’s chaotic comedy-drama was screened today at Cannes. Reviews were mixed for Cosmopolis, which some found too talky, but they were highly positive for Robert Pattinson, 26, best known until now for his lovestruck vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies. [Check out: Cosmopolis Mixed Reviews; Robert Pattinson 'Flawless'.] According to Just Jared, when Pattinson was asked a Twilight-related question, Cronenberg interfered, telling the journalist that Robert Pattinson is a “real person with a history and a past. The history and the past is not Twilight. It is Cosmopolis.” In addition to Robert Pattinson as the young multibillionaire New Yorker Eric Packer, the Cosmopolis cast includes the aforementioned Sarah Gadon, »

Maps to the Stars for Robert Pattinson / David Cronenberg? Above, Pattinson in Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis (Paul Giamatti in background) Robert Pattinson hates Twilight, according to those who have taken seriously his (jokingly) dismissive take on the movie series that has made him world famous. Anyhow, whatever his feelings in regard to The Twilight Saga, Pattinson surely doesn’t hate David Cronenberg. Hence, the Cosmopolis star and director are to work together on another movie project. That appears to be Maps to the Stars. During an interview for Metro, Robert Pattinson said that last week his agent asked if he’d like to appear in Cronenberg’s next film project. "I said yes without thinking!" Pattinson laughingly remarked. Later on, Pattinson explained that he doesn’t know "when exactly we’re going to shoot. But it’ll be David’s first movie shot on American soil. In Los Angeles, to be exact. »

After winning an Oscar for his short The Shore this year, Hotel Rwanda director Terry George is also finally returning to feature film territory after 2007′s Reservation Road. Premiering at Tribeca last month, Whole Lotta Sole sees the helmer switching to a more fun tone, with the story revolving around Brendan Fraser and a robbery in a Irish town. We were mixed on the film (full review here), complaining about his over-abundant subplots, but enjoying the overall light nature. The first trailer has arrived today and you can check it out below for the film also starring Colm Meaney, David O’Hara, Yaya DaCosta and Martin McCann.
Synopsis:
In a rowdy little corner of Belfast, hapless young father Jimbo Reagan is having an unlucky week. Indebted to big-time gangster Mad Dog Flynn for $5,000, Jimbo decides to knock over the local fish market, only to find out post-robbery that it’s »

Chicago – AMC’s watchable western series “Hell on Wheels” is just good enough to sustain audience interest despite its meandering plot. As soon as Gustavo Santaolalla’s catchy theme music kicks in over the brooding title sequence, it’s effortless to become absorbed within Joe and Tony Gayton’s handsomely photographed dramatization of the first transcontinental railroad’s epic construction in 1865.
The most intriguing aspect about the series is how it parallels the expansion of the railroad with the colonization of America itself, and how necessary progress was forged by men with little more on their minds than self-serving greed. Financier Thomas Durant (Colm Meaney) has figured out an excellent way to make a fortune off the railroad with the help of government subsidies. Since he’s being paid $16,000 per mile, he intends to add as many arcs and curves to his railroad as possible, rather than have it chug straight to its destination. »

Whole Lotta Sole is a different kettle of fish* to director 's Terry George's most recent output. Considering he made Hotel Rwanda, there was plenty of scope for adding some levity to his range, and he's definitely done that will this heist movie set in Ireland. The film's new trailer has landed and shows Brendan Fraser caught in the middle of some Irish capers. The man with the Thompson machine-gun is young father Jimbo Reagan (Martin McCann), driven to desperate measures by his debt to local gangster 'Mad Dog' Flynn (David O’Hara). The only problem is that his choice of target - the market than lends Whole Lotta Sole its fishy pun title - is owned by Flynn, so Jimbo's ill-gotten gains include records of the mobster's ill-gotten gains. Hardly likely to ingratiate him with the crim.Stumbling unwittingly into this mayhem is Brendan Fraser's »

Cannes is, ultimately, both an exhibition of wonderful films and a celebration of the very medium, but there’s a very good amount of business taking place after the screenings finish — and, many times, for films that don’t even play in competition. So, as things kick off over in France, Variety reports that The Weinstein Company have procured international rights to The Sapphires, a music biopic — starring, most notably, Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) — that will play as part of the festival’s Midnight Screenings.
The film tells of four Aboriginal girls (Jessica Mauboy, Deborah Mailman, Shari Sebbens, and Miranda Tapsell) that are snatched up by a rowdy Irish producer (O’Dowd), who takes them to Vietnam to entertain American soldiers during the war. Wayne Blair directed the film, while Tony Briggs and Keith Thompson have written the screenplay.

Did anyone catch the medieval action picture “Ironclad?” We said it was “made of flimsy fabric,” but with a cast consisting of Paul Giamatti, James Purefoy, Brian Cox, Derek Jacobi, Kate Mara, Jason Flemyng, Jamie Foreman and Aneurin Barnard on board, how could it be all bad? Well apparently the production of helmer Jonathan English’s film was steeped in difficulties and lost talent like Bob Hoskins, Robert Carlyle, Pete Postlethwaite, Richard Attenborough, William Moseley, Colm Meaney and Angus McFayden along the way.
All that doesn’t matter much now that Variety is reporting that a sequel is in the works, entitled “Ironclad: Battle For Blood.” If that doesn’t already sound like the title of a late-career Jean Claude Van Damme film to you, than perhaps you’re a fan who may find solace in knowing that English and co-writer Steven McDool will pen the sequel, with Content »

He’s got Robert Pattinson’s eyes: Mission: Blacklist poster Robert Pattinson was officially cast in Mission: Blacklist, as American military interrogator Eric Maddox, about ten days or so ago. Producing company Embankment Films isn’t wasting any time. The sales poster for Mission: Blacklist, which will be peddled at the Cannes Film Festival, has been making the rounds online for several days. "In a World of Lies Only One Man Could See the Truth." That man was apparently Pattinson’s Maddox, who claimed to have eschewed torture while trying to figure out the whereabouts of fallen Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. The brief Mission: Blacklist plot synopsis reads as follows: Unlike other Interrogators fresh out of training, Eric Maddox (Robert Pattinson) has a brilliant and beautiful mind. He has a unique ability to decipher highly complex patterns from seemingly random events. His mission is to trap the world’s most wanted man, »

Robert Pattinson photo: Bel Ami Bel Ami Film Box Office Pt.1 In the United Kingdom, the home country of Robert Pattinson and much of the Bel Ami cast and behind-the-scenes talent, Pattinson’s movie scored $1.14m. It’s no. 50 on the UK box-office chart. Relatively speaking, Bel Ami was a more modest performer in the UK, especially compared to Hollywood movies, e.g., War Horse grossed $29.57m, the Fox-distributed The Iron Lady $15.71m, Mirror Mirror $10.78m, and The Phantom Menace $8.23m as per Box Office Mojo. A handful of independent releases fared much better as well, particularly the aforementioned Daniel Radcliffe movie The Woman in Black, which took in a whopping $34.55m. Having said that, one must take into account that Bel Ami, unlike the vast majority of the more successful movies at the UK box office, has an “adult” theme. In fact, the Robert Pattinson film earned a “15″ certificate »

Shame (20th Century Fox) Director Steve McQueen’s harrowing portrait of a Manhattan sex addict (Michael Fassbender, in the year’s most riveting performance) whose psyche goes into overload when his equally-troubled sister (Carey Mulligan) visits unexpectedly. Exquisitely-made on every level, save for the screenplay, which makes its point after about thirty minutes. While it tries hard to be a modern-day Last Tango in Paris, this fatal flaw makes it fall somewhat short. The much- ballyhooed sex scenes and frontal nudity are the least-interesting things about the film, incidentally, which is still a must-see for discriminating adults who seek out challenging material. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Featurettes. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS-hd 5.1 surround.

In this Cosmopolis clip, Robert Pattinson (photo) needs to get inflamed (and to get a haircut). Sarah Gadon doesn’t look all that willing to inflame him (or to cut his hair), but a couple of guys holding dead rats while proclaiming "A specter is haunting the world!" just might be willing to do both. (Please scroll down to watch the Cosmopolis clip.) I haven’t read Don DeLillo’s novel, so I’m not sure exactly what on Earth is happening in the clip, but it just might be something out of Videodrome. Or perhaps The Fly. It’s interesting how both the dialogue and particularly Sarah Gadon’s performance come across as quite stylized. Robert Pattinson’s lines are stylized as well, but his performance is more naturalistic. In fact, Pattinson’s low-key delivery is hilarious. Directed and co-written by David Cronenberg, Cosmopolis will premiere in the Official »
