Why There Shouldn't Be A Remake Of 'The Crow'

16 October 2011 8:39 PM, PDT | Filmology | See recent Filmology news »

Before all things started going to hell before anything even began, I knew The Crow remake was never supposed to happen.  Never mind that I really, really, really hate remakes, reboots, revamps, or whatever, because, if the original classic was good, then leave it alone!

'28 Days Later' director drops out of 'The Crow' remake

However, Hollywood is unoriginal and no one can think of any good scripts to write, so remake hell it is. But here's why Relativity Media should take a hint and just completely drop The Crow reboot altogether. Let's forget the fact that they just lost a director, have no leading man and most of the actors hyped to be in the script have dropped out. I'll turn a blind eye to that right now and give you the real reasons why this project is an utter and complete disgrace.

San Sebastián 2011. Awards and Notes

27 September 2011 5:51 AM, PDT | MUBI | See recent MUBI news »

Isaki Lacuesta's The Double Steps has won the Golden Shell for Best Film at this year's San Sebastián Film Festival. Ronald Bergan will be pleased. In his dispatch from the festival to the House Next Door, he calls it "the best film in the main competition. It was certainly the most original and a refreshing change from the well-worn linear narrative devices of the majority of films. After 2002's Cravan vs. Cravan, his profile of Arthur Cravan, the Swiss-born nephew of Oscar Wilde who achieved fame as both a Dadaist poet and boxer, Lacuesta has now turned to Francois Augièras, the eccentric French writer, painter and explorer, and sometime lover of André Gide. The film follows two parallel lines, one about a group of men trying to locate a mythical bunker buried in the North African desert containing paintings by Augièras, and the other about the artist himself, here played by a black African, »

The Repeater Mixes Mercenaries with the Mexican Mob: Luke Goss to Star

30 August 2011 11:30 AM, PDT | 28 Days Later Analysis | See recent 28 Days Later Analysis news »

Maya Entertainment has also started production on the crime thriller The Repeater. This title stars Luke Goss (Death Race 2), Bai Ling (Locked Down) and action star Gary Daniels (The Expendables). The film is currently in pre-production, so details are limited. However, a concept poster is available, which features Goss and the tagline: "Find, Kill...Repeat." As well, the film deals with a criminal underworld in Mexico and a mercenary for hire, who must face "the most feared man in the world" (Maya Entertainment).

Unbelievably, actor Luke Goss found his first big break in show business with the British Pop Music world, where he charted at least thirteen singles. This band was formed with his brother, Matt Goss before disbanding over contract disputes with their management. Then, Goss transitioned to stage acting in the play "Grease," in London, England. Cinema awaited. Blade II (2002) would be one of his first roles, »

The Crow: The Original Starring Brandon Lee Finally Hits Blu-ray!

23 August 2011 2:00 PM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

We have done our fair share of bitching around here about the forthcoming reboot of The Crow that Relativity Media is putting together. While that movie is likely to be a gigantic train wreck and what I consider a gigantic kick in the teeth to the legacy of Brandon Lee, the film making history of Alex Proyas and the writing of James O’Barr, I can be thankful that I still have the option of watching the original.

And now, thanks to the folks at Lionsgate and Miramax, I can finally watch it in all of its HD glory on Blu-ray. Check out the Blu-ray trailer and details on picking up a copy for yourself below!

Bai Ling Breaks Down Revealing Sex Abuse

26 July 2011 5:06 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Troubled actress Bai Ling openly sobbed on U.S. TV as she recalled terrible memories of sexual molestation when she was a teenager.

The Crow star wept during a group therapy session on Celebrity Rehab as she told how she was date raped by a boyfriend she "didn't like" but who took advantage of her after plying her with alcohol.

She sobbed, "I was just passed out on the pavement and he took me right to his loft and slept with me. I was drunk."

In a personal session with celebrity counsellor Dr. Drew Pinsky, she later revealed she was molested by generals when she served in the Chinese People's Liberation Army as a teen.

The actress admitted she was just 14 when she was ordered to visit high-ranking officials who would "put me on their lap" and abuse her.

She explained, "I have different experiences with different generals... At that time I didn't know what was right or wrong or appropriate. I was vulnerable."

The episode, which aired in the U.S. on Sunday, also saw Bai express regret for her wild antics in Hollywood.

She continued, "I'm this beautiful talented actress but I f***ed myself up being in these clubs, with my nipples out and the tabloids think I'm a bimbo. I'm not a bimbo... What's wrong with me?" »

Alcatraz and Lost Writer Liz Sarnoff Compares the Two and Talks Comic-Con

19 July 2011 4:00 PM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

Liz Sarnoff is a familiar name to died-in-the-wool, never-forget-The-Numbers Lost fans as the co-writer of one of the, err, “least valued” episodes, “Stranger in a Strange Land” (the Bai Ling episode) and one of the most beloved episodes, “The Substitute” (the Ben-in-his-sideways-life episode) and many many others – 19 episodes in all. She began in season 2 as a writer and producer and by season 6 had been promoted to executive producer.

Her first trip to Comic-Con was in 2009 for the final season of Lost. She will be returning this year for the first time since then, now as executive producer for Bad Robot’s Alcatraz. She spoke with THR about her earlier Comic-Con experience, and compared Lost to Alcatraz:

THR: What stands out from your Comic-Con experience?

Sarnoff: I’ve only gone once — for the final season of Lost and it was an amazing experience to see that many fans in one room. »

Bai Ling has had her share of troubles which, like any normal person, she has tried to drown out in a deadening sea of booze. The effectiveness of that strategy has landed her on Celebrity Rehab, where she is so unhappy she tries to fly the coop. Literally. Is dealing with folks like Ling the reason behind the show's just-announced indefinite haitus? Take a gander and judge for yourself... On the plus side, however, she is raking the roof. As for the show's up-in-the-air future? Turns out it's not strickly Ling's looney antics that causing Dr. Drew Pinsky to take an extended vacation.
