Noel Gallagher has blamed his brother Liam for their former band Oasis's lack of success in the Us. The singer-songwriter recalled how his brother once left the group before their Us tour in 1996 to buy a house with his then-girlfriend Patsy Kensit. "As I'm getting on the plane he's getting off because his wife called, saying, 'We need to buy a house'," he told The New York Times. "What they were doing for the previous three months is anybody's guess. Probably picking gnats out of each other's hair like monkeys." He added: "The first gig was a 16,000-seat arena, and the singer's not turned up. That killed us stone dead in (more) »

There's a glimpse of an apple and seven dwarfs in the trailer for this big screen re-imagining of the Snow White story, but most of it is Charlize Theron looking unquestionably evil
This year's Red Riding Hood set a bold new template for contemporary fairytale reworkings, by ignoring most of what people liked about the original and making the rest of it all insufferable and Twilighty. It's a formula that next summer's Snow White and the Huntsman would do well to stick to.
Luckily, a Snow White and the Huntsman trailer has already emerged online, meaning that we're incredibly well placed to judge it. So what parts of the original Snow White story does Snow White and the Huntsman retain? And how does it differ? Let's comb through the trailer for clues ...
1) It would appear that there's still an evil queen in Snow White and the Huntsman, played by Charlize Theron. »

Liam Gallagher thinks his sons can save British music. The Beady Eye frontman is already proud of the musical abilities of 12-year-old Lennon - his child with ex-spouse Patsy Kensit - and 10-year-old Gene, his son with wife Nicole Appleton, and thinks they will go on to enjoy chart success. Asked who he thinks should be responsible for the future of rock 'n' roll, he said: `My kids mate. They're gonna have it. My little boy Gene is a drummer. He did his first gig the other day at school. `He got up in front of 200 people at the school, first gig »

'This week's episode of Who Do You Think You Are? follows the former This Morning host Richard Madeley on a personal journey to Canada. Judy stays at home'
I often wonder why I am the way I am," ponders Richard Madeley on Who Do You Think You Are? (Wed, 9pm, BBC1). A nation nods sagely; it's bamboozled us for years, too. Madeley, like all ancestor stalkers, has girded his loins for an epic journey. Nobody signs up for Who Do You Think You Are? believing they're the fruit of 10-score generations of pinch-faced God-fearing dullards, indigenous to outer Bognor. Nobody wants to be Michael Parkinson or David Schwimmer, whom the BBC investigated before shoving in a file marked "Too boring for televisual broadcast. Play Life Of Riley re-runs instead."
Personally, I'd be hoping for the full Patsy Kensit experience, where every meeting with a tweed jacket-clad archivist would reveal another salt-of-the-earth matriarch, »

It’s the second part of our interview with Michael Biehn, in which he talks about his acting in The Abyss and Tombstone, and his first feature as director, The Victim…
As the first part of our interview demonstrated, the great, under-appreciated actor Michael Biehn has enjoyed a lengthy and varied acting career. His fruitful partnership with James Cameron continued after the success of The Terminator and Aliens, with the pair teaming up again for The Abyss.
Here, we talk to Biehn about the making of that 1989 epic of sci-fi, working with James Cameron, passing on Point Break, and defending strippers in his directorial debut, The Victim…
I’ve always admired your loyalty to James Cameron. And then you went on to work with him on The Abyss (1989), and I remember you’ve always defended his working style, especially after reports of a few egos getting bruised during the filming of that film. »

If the rumours are true, Jennifer Aniston is about to take a bit part in a Us soap. Which British stars should do the same? Helen Mirren in Emmerdale? Hugh Grant in Coronation Street?
Movie stars are notoriously faddy. If one of them gets a little dog to carry around in their handbag, they all have to have one. Megaprimatus Kong is going to tell his side of the story because Fox Animation has set Christian Magalhaes and Bob Snow to write a modern day twist on the King Kong script by Mike Weber.
Well, it will be animated feature and will tell the legend set in contemporary time from the position that affords a broad overall view of the ape. Extra!

An American film crew, led by guy named Carl Denham, captures Kong and takes him to NYC to be exhibited as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”.

Giles & Sue's Royal Wedding; William And Kate: Romance And The Royals
8pm, BBC2; 9pm, Channel 4
Out of all the hundreds of programmes this week featuring a combination of the words "met at St Andrews", "wedding", "royal" and "magical romance", these two at least promise to be a bit more interesting. Sue Perkins and Giles Coren are trying out some royal grub, including the Queen's Mother's favourite Eggs Drumkilbo (are they making this up?), before David Starkey goes all the way back to the middle ages to retrace the steps of other "commoners" who have walked up the royal aisle. But have any of them worked at Jigsaw?

The classic British television series The Professionals is set for a big-screen revival with the news that Lionsgate UK have acquired the rights to produce a feature version, with filming expected to commence here in the UK later this year.
Originally created by Brian Clemens (The Avengers), The Professionals ran for 57 episodes on ITV between 1977 and 1983 and centres on the covert British spy agency CI5 (Criminal Intelligence 5). The new movie version will serve as an origin story that sees ex-Spec Ops Mercenary Bodie and Counter Terrorism Detective Doyle burst back onto screens to embark on the first mission for the covert security agency.

Updated: Deadline have a follow-up on this earlier story claiming producer Richard Whelan is now in L.A. trying to lockdown a cast for the remake with the obvious & usual bunch of names said to be wanted;
Brit actors Tom Hardy, Gerard Butler and Jason Statham are cited (no word on whether they are up for Bodie or Doyle), with vets Liam Neeson and Gary Oldman apparently on the wishlist to play their boss, who was Scottish in the show. The movie will be an origin story depicting how the duo came to work for the CI5.
Statham is probably favourite to end up with one of the roles as he just made Lionsgate UK’s second film to date Blitz, that’s out May 6th, and he is Britain’s box office action star answer to Bruce Willis after all.
As we said below, no director is attached after Neil Marshall (The Descent, »

Lionsgate UK and Eighth Wonder Pictures are planning a feature film adaptation of the 1970s British TV crime series The Professionals. Having never seen the series, I checked the Wikipedia and learned that the main characters work for CI5 (Criminal Intelligence 5), "a law enforcement department, instructed by the Home Secretary to use any means, which deals with crimes of a serious nature that go beyond the capacity of the police, but are not tasks for the security service or military." Per the press release, "The Professionals will see ex-Spec Ops Mercenary Bodie and Counter Terrorism Detective Doyle burst back onto screens in this blistering origin story that sees the iconic characters unite in their first mission for covert British Security Unit CI5 (Criminal Intelligence 5)." This sounds like a job for Jason Statham. Hit the jump for the press release. Here's the press release: Lionsgate UK and Eighth Wonder Pictures to »

Here’s a TV programme I’m sure my dad watched religiously which I know next to nothing about other than the crazy haircuts!
The Professionals was a TV series which spanned for five seasons between the years 1977 and 1983. It starred Gordon Jackson, Martin Shaw and Lewis Collins and at its peak, pulled in millions of viewers with even the re-runs in the late 90s attracting over over million views on the now deceased TV channel, Granada. The show was created to mimic Us rivals like Starkey and Hutch and had a rather memorable opening soundtrack which I’ve placed below in a clip.
This press release announces the news that Lionsgate UK and Eight Wonder pictures will produce the cinematic version and we’ll obviously keep you up to date with casting and release dates etc.
Here’s a clip from the original series… you’ll see what I mean about the haircuts! »

Patsy Kensit "really appreciated" her job as an actress following her stint on 'Strictly Come Dancing'. The 43-year-old former 'Holby City' star - who finished in seventh place alongside professional dancer Robin Windsor in last year's series of the BBC One show - admitted while appearing the programme lifted her "emotionally", she found memorising complicated routines challenging. She said: "It sounds like such a cliché, but dancing really does lift you emotionally. Also, I'd been going to work for the past 38 years and taking it for granted that I can memorise a script immediately. "I've got a photographic memory; I've been using »
