The accusations have been many, and the reaction and fallout has been swift across the industry. Russell Simmons Steps Down From His Businesses Amid New Sexual Misconduct Allegation
Russell Simmons is stepping down.

In response to a new allegation of past sexual misconduct by writer Jenny Lumet (Rachel Getting Married, The Mummy), the 60-year-old music mogul penned a letter announcing he will remove himself from Def Jam Recordings, as well as a Los Angeles yoga studio he founded.

Lumet alleges in a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter, that in 1991, when she was 24 years old, Simmons offered her a ride home from a restaurant. She explains that she and Simmons had a generally friendly relationship since meeting in 1987, claiming he "lightly" pursued her, though she turned him down, adding it was "never a big deal."

However, upon accepting the ride in 1991, Lumet alleges that changed. Terry Crews has slammed Russell Simmons after the producer was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage model in 1991 while director Brett Ratner allegedly watched.

On Sunday, Crews, 49, shared a screenshot of an email he allegedly received from Simmons about the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor’s claims that he was sexually assaulted by agent Adam Venit.

In the message, Simmons allegedly urged Crews to “give the agent a pass ask that he be reinstated.”

“Message Russell Simmons sent to me regarding my sexual assault case against Adam Venit of @Wme,” Crews wrote alongside the image before adding: “Dear @UncleRUSH — No One Gets A Pass.

Russell Simmons Accused of Sexual Assault While Brett Ratner Allegedly Watched
Hip hop mogul Russell Simmons has been accused of committing sexual assault while director Brett Ratner allegedly watched, according to an article by The Los Angeles Times.

Model Keri Claussen Khalighi claims that in 1991, Simmons and Ratner took her out for dinner in New York, and then they returned to Simmons' apartment to watch a music video the pair were working on. There, she alleges that Simmons made unwanted advances on her, and claims that when she asked Ratner for help, he "just sat there and watched."

“I fought it wildly,” Khalighi tells the newspaper about Simmons' alleged attempt to have intercourse with her.

She claims to the L.A. Times that Simmons eventually coerced her to perform oral sex, and also alleges that he briefly penetrated her without her consent after she went to take a shower.

Simmons vehemently denied the allegations in a statement on his website.
