While we find it hard to believe, these words are being typed by our own fingers and of free will – thank God Peter Jackson’s Halo project crashed and burned. For if it hadn’t this towering, tumultuous science-fiction satire from South African effects-wizard-turned-director Neill Blomkamp, adapted from his own impressive short, might never have been realized. Cleverly using Jackson’s name over the title to get people’s attention, this one slowly crept into our consciousness via a fiendishly inventive, perfectly pitched viral marketing campaign the likes of Cloverfield and The Blair Witch. Buying up ad space on billboards and bus stops with provocative posters proclaiming “No Non-Humans” the movie screamed high-concept while keeping you guessing as to the film’s overall nature. This worked hand-in-hand with an expertly judged teaser trailer made to resemble the kind of geo-political issue-of-the-week fodder theaters typically run as part of their pre-movie magazine package. »

I like to go to the gym 3-4 times a week. Sometimes 5 if my schedule allows it or I manage to get out of bed and find the motivation to put my gym clothes on (the hardest part about going to the gym is going to the gym). Since I live in La-La Land sometimes I usually see celebrities there. Nothing new, I've talked about it before. I've seen Zac Efron, Neil Patrick Harris, Michael Jai White a million times, Jamie Pressly, etc. etc. It's no big deal, they just go about their business. One celeb I've seen a few times is Mr. T, who is one of the nicest guys you'll ever talk to. Very humble, but 100% T. I said hello to him today and asked him if he was going to appear in the A-Team remake. I was hoping he was going to say yes, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. »
Before the Ball dropped in Times Square to ring in 2009, the Great Gay Debate was underway in America. Prop. 8 was the catalyst, and in its wake everyone had an opinion on Glbt civil rights. We listened. We blogged. But someone else was watching too. Someone who sees you when you're sleeping, who knows when you're awake. Someone who knows when you've been bad or good — and keeps a list to prove it.
Yep, Santa Claus is coming to town in just a few days, and we've managed to get our hands on his 2009 Naughty and Nice list. The folks on the Naughty list will get a lump of clean burning coal in their stockings this year, and a rainbow-colored Asshat. The Nice list will receive an AfterElton.com Crown of Visibility, and "Glee: The Music, Volumes 1 and 2."

Back in New York after an eventful journey from the West Coast, Neil Patrick Harris is wasting no time getting in the holiday spirit. "Happy Harlem Holidays!!" the actor told the Twitter faithful on Monday. "Finally arrived (layover in Vegas - won $9.50 in slots!), got us a tree, about to trim." Then, after working his magic on the evergreen, the How I Met Your Mother star offered up this festive photo of his handiwork. "Tree trimmed. Balls hung. Good times," he wrote. Harris, 36, then hit a Broadway show on Tuesday night - the rock musical Next to Normal, which he deemed to be "fan-frigging-tastic! »

As Ted continues to date his way through New York City, How I Met Your Mother fans have been wondering for years who the title character of the CBS show will be.
Finally, Himym co-creator Carter Bays says Ted is getting close to the real thing. But does that in turn mean the end of the comedy? Or just a new cast member?
Here's what Bays tells TV Guide Magazine about that and more ...
On the show's recent Golden Globe nomination: "There is a tendency for the creator of the show to think that no one's actually watching. I feel less like the creator of the show and more like its biggest fan because I like to see what's going to happen each week. So you forget it's actually being broadcast and pumped through cable wires across the world."
On Neil Patrick Harris' directing efforts: "He just directed last week's episode, »

What?! It’s not enough that we spent the whole year providing you with insightful news and analysis on gay and bisexual entertainment – now we have to pick which 2009 projects we think best represented gay and bisexual men?!
Sorry, we’re getting a little Grinch-y around here come year-end.
But the fact is, gay and bisexual entertainment-related news is inexorably linked with the issue of visibility. If you know anything at all about the history of such entertainment, you know that it’s almost always been “controversial.” As passionate as the creators of these projects have always been, there’s been a similarly strong counter-pressure to keep these themes hidden or under wraps.
As a result, for a website like ours, covering the “news” of these projects inevitably becomes a question of championing the ones of quality (and giving the hook to those who don’t measure up, or that »

Every week we pick the gays who we think have made the biggest splash in television (or pop culture in general) and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week.
Last week's results had the juggernaut that is "Kish" mowing down the competition — including Adam Lambert. (That poor guy always seems to come in second.)
This week we got a little help in the nominating department from a few readers who wish to remain nameless. Fresh eyes brought us some interesting candidates for gay of the week, three of whom have never been nominated before!
This week's contenders:
Neil Patrick Harris Nph has had a great week overall. First his performance this week on How I Met Your Mother (wiith fellow out guest star Harvey Fierstein doing voice work), then via Twitter comes news he'll be directing an upcoming episode of his sitcom. »
Got a scoop request? An anonymous tip you’re dying to share? Just want to say hi? You can send any/all of the above to firstname.lastname@example.org Question: The latest we've heard about Tony and Ziva on NCIS is Shane Brennan stating that their relationship will remain status quo. Please tell me they're not ending Tiva? —Jamie Ausiello: Strange. That seems to contradict what I'm hearing. According to my hairy NCIS mole, the Jan. 26 episode finds Tony and Ziva hopping a plane to the City of Love. That's right, Tiva takes on Paris! And would you believe the »

The following are photos from How I Met Your Mother's 100th episode, the title of which is "Girls vs. Suits."
Here's how this landmark ep is being billed: "When Barney debates giving up wearing suits to land a hot bartender, his conflicted feelings lead to an amazingly awesome musical number on the 100th episode."
Not to detract from the rest of the cast, but they should consider renaming this series to The Barney Stinson Show starring Neil Patrick Harris and featuring... the Barney Stinson players.
I mean, does anyone even care how the other guy met your mother?
"Girls v. Suits" will air Monday January 11th, and judging from these advance photos a suave Nph is channeling Gene Kelly... and Allyson Hannigan should really avoid wearing suits.
Ask Taylor Swift for one word to describe her life these days and the answer is easy: "Happy," she says. "It feels like this ongoing dream." And why shouldn't it? Swift - who graces the cover of People's 25 Most Intriguing People of 2009 - has lots to celebrate: In the past 12 months, she has seen her CD, Fearless, become the year's best-selling album, sold out tour dates and racked up a slew of accolades including the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year award and eight Grammy nominations. "You can stay the same person, even if everything around you changes," says the golden girl, »
She's thrown parties as newlywed Joan Harris on AMC's Mad Men - and even in real life Christina Hendricks is quite the hostess! Last Saturday, the actress and her new husband Geoffrey Arend threw a holiday bash at their downtown Los Angeles home, drawing famous friends like costar Jon Hamm, Marisa Tomei, Sandra Oh and Neil Patrick Harris. Guests noshed on shrimp skewers and other appetizers, catered by the How I Met Your Mother star's boyfriend David Burtka, with drinks provided by Corzo tequila. (Harris was so proud of Burtka that he Tweeted pictures of his "delish" spread - as well as the party guests! »

The How I Met Your Mother cast doesn't shy away from celebrations.
For its 100th episode January 11, the CBS comedy will feature a grand musical number featuring its five stars, 65 dancers and a 50-person orchestra.
"It almost felt like an old-school MGM musical to me. It was a lot of cast and crew grouping together to make it special," says star Neil Patrick Harris.
The show has provided musical number before - Robin's 'tween videos and Marshall's piano prelude to a slap come to mind - but nothing this elaborate.
It Suits Them: How I Met Your Mother turns 100 and pays tribute to Barney's attire.
