Oscars Announce Shortlist for Makeup and Hairstyling

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced the short list in the Makeup and Hairstyling category for this year’s Oscars.

The seven films in competition include a mix of fantasy/sci-fi (“The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Maleficent”), reality work (“Foxcatcher,” “The Theory of Everything”) and stylized pieces (“The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Noah”).

Nominations for the 87th Academy Awards will be unveiled Thursday, Jan. 15. Polls officially close the week prior on Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. Pt.

Among the films with notable hair/makeup work that were missing from Oscar’s shortlist: “Get on Up,” “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” “Into the Woods” and “Unbroken.”

Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, the 2015 Oscars will unfold Feb. 22 at the Dolby Theatre.

Barbara Walters Grills Taylor Swift About Her Good Girl Reputation

2014 was no doubt the year of the booty. While singers like Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea flaunted their assets, Taylor Swift maintained her reputation of being the girl next door. Barbara Walters recently sat down with the "Shake It Off" singer for her annual Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014, and grilled Taylor on her good girl image.

"Well I do drink, I'm 25," she tells Barbara. "But I did wait until I was 21 because I was worried about getting into trouble."

Oscars: 323 Films Vying For Best Picture Nomination

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said today that 323 pics are vying for a Best Picture Oscar nomination. That 34 more than last year. To be eligible for consideration for the 87th Academy Awards, featrun at least 40 minutes and open in a commercial motion picture theater in Los Angeles County by midnight, December 31, and begin a minimum run of seven consecutive days. The theatrical screenings must be on 35mm or 70mm film, or in a qualifying digital format. The 87th Academy Awards nominations will be announced January 15, and the hardware will be doled out February 22 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland. ABC will air the ceremony live, with Neil Patrick Harris hosting.
