Why John Goodman’s ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ Performance Deserves Oscar Attention — Consider This

19 hours ago | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

John Goodman is one of the great American actors and never gets enough credit. Somehow stately and understated, Goodman’s an unmistakable one-man show, whose baritone voice and generous build allow him to oscillate between gentle giant and hulkish beast — often settling for something in between.

That makes his particular talents hard to categorize. In some respect that’s a byproduct of his filmography, which encompasses both flashy blockbusters and elegant dramas. Even when he’s the best part of a movie, he rarely dominates it; he’s a familiar face in search of a vessel.

With “10 Cloverfield Lane,” however, Goodman found an ideal outlet for his talents. He’s the longest of Oscar long shots, but that’s plenty to justify examining exactly what he pulled off here, and why it speaks to a career that’s never quite wholly appreciated.

Mark Wahlberg faces off against an unlikely enemy in new trailer for Transformers: The Last KnightMark Wahlberg faces off against an unlikely enemy in new trailer for Transformers: The Last KnightGarrett McCormick12/6/2016 1:54:00 Pm

It is man versus machine in the fifth installment of the Transformers live-action movie series - and only one group will survive. Based on the new trailer, not much of the plot has been revealed, but we know for sure there will be war against old enemies…and new unlikely enemies. Optimus Prime is a staple in the Transformers franchise; he is the leader and all-around good guy. But in the new trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight, he seems to have turned his back on his allies.

Mark Wahlberg returns after his role in 2014’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, with Josh Duhamel, Stanley Tucci, Isabela Moner and John Goodman (voice) joining him in this explosive sequel. »

Teaser Trailer for Michael Bay's Latest 'Transformers: The Last Knight'

6 December 2016 6:01 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Paramount has unleashed the first trailer for Michael Bay's latest Transformers sequel, Transformers: The Last Knight, yet again starring Mark Wahlberg (who was introduced in Age of Extinction). This sequel puts an interesting spin on things, with the Transformers going back to medieval times and meeting up with King Arthur for an adventure. The full cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, John Goodman, Stanley Tucci, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Isabela Moner, Santiago Cabrera, and Liam Garrigan as King Arthur; plus the same voices as before: Peter Cullen, Frank Welker and Ken Watanabe. I lost interest in this series after the last movie, but they're really trying to make us care again with this fun back-in-time storyline. It honestly doesn't look as bad as I was expecting. What do you think? Here's the first teaser trailer for Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight, direct from YouTube: For more updates on this series, »

First Transformers: The Last Knight Trailer Coming Tomorrow

4 December 2016 1:20 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Michael Bay has announced that with filming having now wrapped, the very first trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight will be arriving at some point tomorrow. This lines up with previous reports that stated it’d be with us in December. While many thought it could be debuting with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as that’s what rumors pointed to, it seems that we’ll now be getting it a little earlier than that.

Obviously, this is very good news. The fifth film in the Transformers series is set to arrive on June 23rd, but we still haven’t seen anything official from it. No photos, clips, promos – nothing. A featurette and some Bts videos have snuck online in recent months, but what we really need is some concrete footage. Now, we’ll be getting just that, and we’ve no doubt that this first trailer will absolutely deliver. »

Original Sci-Fi Movie Captive State Casts John Goodman

1 December 2016 9:37 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Often held up as one of the most dependable supporting actors in the business, John Goodman is poised to cap off another stellar year in cinema with the release of Peter Berg’s Boston marathon drama, Patriots Day, in a few weeks’ time. Of course, for many, it is the actor’s colossal, downright terrifying performance in 10 Cloverfield Lane that will be fondly remembered for years to come.

Looking further afield, Goodman’s upcoming 2017 slate is no slouch either, what with roles across Kong: Skull Island, Transformers: The Last Knight, The Coldest City and Valerian, Luc Besson’s lavish sci-fi in which the actor will play the part of an extra-terrestrial via motion capture. If nothing else, it certainly won’t be the actor’s last foray into the genre, now that Variety brings word that John Goodman has signed on for Captive State.

’10 Cloverfield Lane’ Director Daniel Trachtenberg Eyed for Houdini Movie

Lionsgate is eyeing “10 Cloverfield Lane” director Daniel Trachtenberg for its Harry Houdini biopic, which had been in development for several years.

Johnny Depp had been in early talks in 2014 to star as Houdini in the movie, based on the biography “The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero.” But Depp’s deal did not go through and no other actors are currently attached.

Frank Marshall and Bruce Cohen have been attached as producers for several years. The project is based on the 2007 biography by William Kalush and Larry Sloman that traces the life of the renowned magician from poverty to wordwide fame, providing details into his increasingly dangerous feats, his secret life as a spy and a plot to subvert his legacy. Houdini died on Halloween in 1926.

Dean Parisot, director of Lionsgate’s “Red 2,” was on board to helm in 2014. The script has been written  by Noah Oppenheim, »
