Ranking San Diego Comic-Con 2016 Trailers, From Worst to Best

25 July 2016 11:18 AM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

This year's San Diego Comic-Con brought a treasure trove of trailers for some of the upcoming year's most buzzworthy movies, from superhero movies and franchise tentpole blockbusters to, curiously enough, Oliver Stone's upcoming Edward Snowden biopic. (Watching the filmmaker warn the attendees of his Hall H panel that Pokémon Go watches them as they slumber was a rare, unexpected treat.)

We've got a nice long wait for most of these — enjoy that Justice League clip, people, because we've still got another 16 months before it swoops into theaters — but for now, »

Tom Hiddleston And Jordan Vogt-Roberts Discuss Kong: Skull Island

25 July 2016 10:19 AM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

For my money, the most intriguing trailer to emerge from Sdcc was for Kong: Skull Island.  Whatever expectations you might have had for the film, chances are you didn't think it was going to be Apocalypse Now meets Cloverfield. "We needed to make this film different and different for a reason," says director Jordan Vogt-Roberts to Yahoo Movies. He continued, "We've had so many Kong stories in the past, we didn't want to tell the Beauty & the Beast story over again.  We wanted to present audiences something new - a new story but within the mythology.  we wanted to take this character that people love Kong, and take this place, Skull Island and do something new with it but ground it in characters."   For more from the cast and crew, including Tom Hiddleston, John GoodmanCorey Hawkins, and Jason Mitchell, watch the video below.  Kong: Skull Island arrives in theates »

'Kong: Skull Island' makes an impressive Comic-Con debut with a new trailer

25 July 2016 9:30 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Brie Larson had a pretty good Saturday at Comic-Con, I think it’s safe to say. She's had to do a fair amount of juggling around this film so far. When she won her Oscar this spring, she had to fly in from where she was shooting Kong: Skull Island to do so, and Saturday, they had to pull her away from her press duties for Kong: Skull Island to take the stage in Hall H to announce that she is officially signed to play Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, in what will easily be one of the most eagerly awaited films Marvel has ever made. But before we get all crazy about a movie that doesn’t even have an announced director yet, let’s look at the other film she came to San Diego to discuss today, because that is a seriously awesome trailer. Comic Con: Kong, Arthur trailers unleashed

24 July 2016 11:30 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

It has been a busy weekend for new movie trailers and we’re going to attempt to bring all of them to you over the next couple of hours. Let’s kick things off with a couple of trailers from the Warner Brothers panel from over the weekend, and in particular the trailers for Kong: Skull Island and Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword. Both films are set to hit cinemas next March.

First up, Kong: Skull Island.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ “Kong: Skull Island” reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts.  In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

Reviewing the Seven Biggest Comic-Con Trailers

24 July 2016 4:18 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

We all love movie trailers. Some of us get to the theater early so we can catch all the trailers. We review trailers. Studios even make trailers for trailers. (And we review those, too.) Trailers get people excited. That’s their job, if they’re done correctly. Comic-Con has unveiled a bunch of trailers over the past few days. Cinelinx is taking a second look at seven trailers for some of the most anticipated upcoming movies.

Justice League: What’s immediately obvious from the trailer is that the tone of this film will be very different from the earlier Snyderverse films. When the WB opened the set to critics several weeks back, everyone present said that they were encouraged by the humorous scenes being filmed featuring the Flash. This trailer seems to back up those claims, focusing on the interactions of the team members. The thread of the trailer »

Kong: Skull Island First Trailer: Stomp On This

23 July 2016 6:15 PM, PDT | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

The first trailer for Kong: Skull Island has stomped online and it does a good job of establishing a foreboding mood that is strikingly different from its predecessors. This is a teaser -- more than likely, future trailers will come along that show us much more than needed -- but it sets up faces that are familiar, people like Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson and others, and plops them onto an island where we know King Kong rules. Will this movie itself dispense with dispatch the seemingly obligatory 'this is why we're chasing a giant beast' first act that marked King Kong (1993, 1976 and 2005)? We shall see. The new version is set in the 1970s. Larson is a war...

Eddie Redmayne charms Comic-Con

23 July 2016 5:12 PM, PDT | ScreenDaily | See recent ScreenDaily news »

Another British actor earned his place in convention lore on Saturday as the Oscar-winner and star of the upcoming Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them handed out wands to everybody in Hall H.

The decision by the Warner Bros hierarchy to have Redmayne walk among the people – many of whom were screaming in glee – was a masterstroke finale that lifted what had otherwise been a typically loud presentation, albeit one inflected with more nuance and humour than this studio’s Comic-Con appearances are known for.

An otherwise satisfying session for executives had dipped into awkwardness earlier in the session when Suicide Squad director David Ayer acknowledged that someone would probably live-stream the trailer he was about to introduce – hitting on one of reasons why Hollywood has broadly stayed away this year.

First Badass Trailer for Jordan Vogt-Roberts' 'Kong: Skull Island' Movie

23 July 2016 4:19 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"Monsters exist." It's time! Warner Bros has unleashed the first Comic-Con trailer for the new King Kong movie, Kong: Skull Island, and it's looks totally awesome. Jordan Vogt-Roberts directs this adventure to Kong Island, telling the origin story of King Kong, where they encounter the giant ape and try to take him out with machine guns. Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson star along with a huge cast including Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Shea Wigham, Toby Kebbell and Eugene Cordero. This trailer doesn't fully reveal King Kong yet, but there are some stunning shots. And it kind of feels like Vogt-Roberts made the Apocalypse Now of Kong movies. Which is a good thing as far as I can tell. I really can't wait to see it! Enjoy. Here's the first full trailer (+ poster) for Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Kong: Skull Island, »
