As we predicted a few weeks ago when we fantasy cast Crispin Glover in the inevitable film.s lead role, Michael Jackson: The Movie is happening. Variety says Sony Pictures is close to a deal with Aeg Entertainment, the owners of concert footage which would be used in making the movie. And that.s actually where this whole thing becomes a little unclear. Apparently the movie will feature a lot of actual Michael Jackson footage, including over 80 hours of rehearsal video filmed by Jackson while preparing for the concert he was to perform in London and at least three classic Mj music videos (possibly even an alternate, 3D version of Thriller). That makes this sound like it.s some sort of documentary, but it.s being referred to as a .feature. and it.s High School Musical director Kenny Ortega who.s expected to helm it. So what kind

Who says there’s nothing good to watch tonight? Well don’t worry, we’ve got you covered — at least for a few minutes — with this brand new clip from the highly anticipated film 9, directed by Shane Acker and Exec. Produced by Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton.
In this new clip, we’re treated to a pretty cool scene where the Stitchpunk Beings are being attacked by “The Winged Beast” which, by the looks of it, is something you really don’t want to be attacked by. Before you take a look at the clip and just in case you’re not familiar with the film, it concerns the character 9, who finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where all humans are gone. It is only by chance he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth trying to destroy his kind.

Check out this Mushroom infused concept art from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland that should play into a scene in the final cut. It's like Alice has stumbled into the Redwood version of Mushroom forests and should look fantastic when fully rendered in CGI. Some exciting stuff coming from the mouse at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Among the very cool things we’re particularly excited about are the panels concerning Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and the reboot of Tron called Tron (at least for the moment). Also, Disney plans on having several guests to discuss these films, and the fact that they're all in 3D, including Robert Zemeckis, animation legends John Lasseter and Hayao Miyazaki, Tron reboot producers Sean Bailey and Steve Lisberger, veteran animation directors John Musker and Ron Clements and special guest director/auteur Tim Burton.
With all this, it looks to be a very interesting couple of days around the Disney booth and panels. Check out all the info from Disney’s official release:

When you think of Comic-Con in San Diego, you don’t immediately think of Walt Disney Studios making their presence known. But that’s exactly what they are doing this year. And when you think about it, two titles in particular will fit right in to the comic crazy crowds … Tron and Alice in Wonderland. Here’s the news release from Disney.
Animation greats Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter and directors Robert Zemeckis and Tim Burton will take part in their first ever Comic-Con at the San Diego Convention Center July 23-24. The filmmakers will be on hand to help Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures showcase a wide-ranging roster of upcoming films, including 3D juggernauts Alice In Wonderland, Tron and Disney’S A Christmas Carol, and animated gems The Princess And The Frog, Beauty And The Beast, Ponyo and the Toy Story trilogy.
Zemeckis, Burton, Miyazaki and Lasseter will take part in industry panels.

Beloved Fsr reader Tommy C. sent over (though we've since determined that it came from Allocine) the latest international trailer for the upcoming post-apocalyptic stitch punk actioner (that's what they're calling it now) 9 this morning. And while I know that you all can't read the French subtitles, rest easy. This trailer is (a) actually in English and (b) yet another awe-inspiring look at the brilliance of this film. Directed by Shane Acker and based on one of his own short films, 9 follows the story of nine stitched up heroes who were created by a brilliant scientist during the final days of humanity. Now they are tasked with stopping a robot-led apocalypse and maybe, just maybe find out how to hold on to the essence of humanity. It's a wicked cool premise with more than one wicked cool trailers. For service in English, please check out the most recent theatrical trailer. For

I don't know about you, but I'm already eagerly waiting for a teaser trailer for Tim Burton's vision of "Alice in Wonderland," which won't open in theaters until March 5, 2010.
In the meantime, I've stumbled across several set pics and concept art, and just the other day, I found some more pics from the upcoming mix of live action and performance capture.
The pics (from Vanity Fair) were posted on Planeta Disney (via Cs), and they offer you a glimpse at Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Mia Wasikowska as Alice. Oh, and the third one is that famous Johnny Depp shot as the Mad Hatter. I'm sure you've seen it already.
Anne Hathaway, Matt Lucas and Crispin Glover co-star, among others. The film will also be released in 3D.

Three new character images for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland have been scanned from the August issue of Vanity Fair and posted online via Planeta Disney. The new full body shots of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter has the Red Queen, and Mia Wasikowska as teenage Alice are similar to the previously released promo shots except for one addition: an animal is being held by the actor in each one. The logical assumption is these photos will be used for future PETA ads. The film also stars Michael Sheen of The Twilight Saga: New Moon as The White Rabbit, Stephen Fry as The Cheshire Cat, Alan Rickman as The Caterpillar, Crispin Glover as The Knave of Hearts, Christopher Lee as The Jabberwock, Noah Taylor as The March Hare, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, and Matt Lucas as Tweedledee & Tweedledum.
